Balboa: Its too much work
Honestly I don't think I will ever understand them verbally. They speak too fast. Next journey english speaking country. I am not stuck to Colombia. I am under the weather and so I appreciate your peaceful post to agree to disagree.
That's your experience, not mine.
When I was a newbie, didn't speak the lingo, that happened.
Rare now.
Again, I know they want / need money.
I assure them they'll get paid.
I don't go with the aggressive money grubbers, the sharks, they get discarded immediately.
The rest is gravy.
Believe what you want, I know you have a good time, I enjoy your posts, combo of fun and humor, however, learn the lingo and check it out!
.
The argument that knowing Spanish does not help is so counterintuitive that it
Boggles my mind, but a lot of discussions are like that here and I try to keep an open mind. Mongers argue opinions, knowing Spanish is one of many, with no practical experience in the point they are arguing against. When all I have is my own, one-sided, personal biased experience with nothing to compare, how can I say tipping doesn't help if I never tried to tip? How can I say making myself presentable doesn't help if I never shaved my ear hair? I am not talking about the Lemming Argument; I don't have to jump off a cliff to know that I am not going to like the end result. But for more subtle matters of taste and style, maybe someone else has built a better mousetrap. Or not. At one point, I am sure most of what I do that is valid started with some good old fashioned Research and Development, otherwise known as Ripoff & Duplicate, jajaja.
