I have been going to Nana Plaza at least twice a week for several years, eat at some of the outside bars inside the Plaza and near the entrance on Soi 4 and I honestly can't say I have smelled this supposed stench. I am usually with friends, both male and female, very often newbies to the scene and not one of them has ever mentioned any stench either.

Now, I do think the smell coming from that hamburger stand mini-van that parks at the entrance to the Plaza is weird. I just don't get the attraction for those burgers and the smell of them cooking is not appetizing at all to me. And there might be a mild "garbage" smell in that little pocket of the Plaza on the ground floor at the bottom of the steps behind Mandarin Bar where the old lady with the bad foot sits there snoozing away night after night. But I have not noticed any more of a "garbage" smell in Nana Plaza than in Soi Cowboy, Patpong, down Sukhumvit Soi 7/1, Sois 22, 24, 24/1 and any other tourist bar areas where large amounts of empty beer and liquor bottles are carted out every now and then.

Impressive facilities and about 40 girls in the lineup downstairs. A few doable just due to the larger selection but nothing really special. Also went up to level 3 (think it was level 3 but definitely up a few floors in the lift) and another 20 to 30 up there, not a noticeable difference in quality but price double or triple. I personally found the "look" angled towards Asian tourists which is not really appealing to me. The look is white skin, a bit of plastic surgery and overall plastic type appearance as opposed to the natural darker look that I like. I would have done 1 girls but she was in the process of being grabbed when I walked in so I just passed.

In regards to all the comments about Japanese clubs excluding white foreigners. There is plenty of ass in Thailand so who cares if a few areas are angled towards a particular demographic. I personally don't care one bit.

But as you said it is just due to there being more rubbish due to more activity in what is a densely packed little night area. I don't think it is that bad either, just normal for a busy street in Asia with lots going on. I personally like it, a smell of street vendors and generally night life in general. Makes one feel that they are actually alive.

Just as Amsterdam residents do not hit the streets of the well known RLD to get their share of paid sex. They surely know where to go to get the proper business.

Thanks for the reinforcement. Yes, I learned quickly in Amsterdam too that the RLD was so much tourist fare and little else. I recall taking a tram to the nearest Privhouse and finding all their good talent booked well in advance (presumably by locals). The mongering game really never sleeps. You have to start planning and strategizing months before a trip to get real value out of a location, especially if it's a first time visit. Oh well. Happy mongering!

It is quite pervasive in Pattaya but never heard of it happening at Baccara in Soi Cowboy.

OS.[/QUOTE]What you describe as useless--getting the girl tested--actually isn't. What it is is less than definitive. If you test a girl and it comes back positive, that is not useless information. If it comes back negative, it either means she does not have HIV or has acquired it rather recently, which as a matter of probabilities is less than a girl having acquired it over a longer period of time. Keeping in mind the female to male odds of HIV transmission are rather low to start with (and male to female not very high), a negative HIV test for the girl does lower the odds even further. But not down to zero owing to the small possibility she could have contracted HIV but is in the time window where it does not yet show up on a test.

Also, getting back to the original question posed, I doubt a bar girl will have a lot of knowledge about any of this, so if the purpose is to have a piece of paper to show her with a negative HIV test, it might work. Then again, there are things like drug-resistant STDs that might also be of concern.

While the test is not definite for those catching HIV in the last 2 weeks (even to 1 month), if the girl tests negative, then the probability she has HIV has just decreased massively by many factors of 10. So you would indeed feel good about her negative result.

Most girls with HIV have been doing BB for many years and eventually their luck ran out. They are likely to have had HIV for quite some time and it is highly likely to be detected. Rates of new HIV cases in Thailand have dropped significantly over recent years. So the big risks are with girls that had HIV for quite some time.

Even if the girl tested Positive, you go back for another HIV test at Red Cross in a month to confirm you still missed catching it. It is not the easiest thing to catch from a girl. You have to be unlucky.

BBFS comes with much higher risks of catching other STDs. I have decided to make a Red Cross visit every few months, for checking some basics. Just to be sure. Interestingly, I wanted to know if I ever might have caught a Herpes Simplex virus (including HSV-1 cold sores), since I never had any obvious symptoms, and could easily have caught such thing at some point from kissing or BBBJ, or DATY. There is an IgG test for it, which came back negative recently. This surprised me a little since most people get one of the HSVs at some time, and I would expect mongers to be at much higher risk. Not sure if it possible to have had long ago and not have the antibodies detected any more.

There are no cast iron guarantees in this world. However if I was taking on a hooker for regular BB, I would prefer she was tested too for HIV.

Normally I don't comment on Nana stinks either. This is Thailand. We accept it.

Try the staircases, especially the one to the right behind the escalator next to Mandarin. LOL I have a big nose. It works too well. I don't use ST rooms in Nana. They are pretty stinky. With many ST Hotels, it is pot luck whether you get a room with stinky plumbing or not. You can imagine, since my nose is sensitive that I have some degree of racial discrimination. On BTS I will choose a seat next to Thais in preference, due to the low chances of body odour, avoiding to risk sitting next to African, Middle Eastern, Sub-continent, or even Farangs dressed in singlet. Sometimes encounter really bad BO and have to move to the other end of the carriage, or even get off.

The Nana Plaza hamburger stand was once okay Until it got taken over by the low brain son of someone controlling these things, maybe 2 to 3 years ago. The ingredients are now very low quality. The burgers are very pale and have low meat content. Any beef at all? I don't know. Maybe eating beef is against his religion? LOL. Not surprising it smells strange. As soon as this guy took over, the business dropped away completely, yet he never got the message, that burgers need to be of a certain minimum quality (not garbage burgers). The Cowboy Hamburger stand at at Corner bar next to Baccara is vastly superior. I find they make me a very acceptable burger to my personal specs at a good price. They have other things which I don't take. They even have black pepper I can use on my burger. I don't tale Mayo, and don't like a soggy burger. Can sit and apply condiments of your personal choice.

However if I was taking on a hooker for regular BB, I would prefer she was tested too for HIV.[/QUOTE]I get tested for HIV and Syphilis every two months at the Thai Red Cross simply because it is nearby, easy and fast to do, cheap (200 baht for each, 400 baht total) and I like to have the document on hand in case anyone wants to see it to feel more comfortable. BTW, if you want a printed document result, they will need your passport and phone number. And they will retest your blood in a week or two, I forget which, and call you if there is any change in the results. I have never been called later. That is just what the counselor tells you when she gives you your document.

But I've got to ask the general membership here something; I have been reading about testing yourself, testing the girl, testing too soon, testing too cheaply, testing for this, testing for that, testing the right way, testing often enough, retesting, testing and retesting again for many years on these kinds of message boards and have to say I have not once in all those years read a Field Report saying anything like, "Oh my god, that was a close one! I got my girl tested before fucking her and I'll be damned if she didn't have HIV!" Or, "I'll be damned if she didn't come up with one of those drug resistant STDs we've all been hearing about!" Or, "I'll be damned if I didn't test positive for BOTH!!"

The question: Has that ever happened to anyone reading this? I don't want to hear that it happened to a friend of a friend's cousin or some such tale. Has it ever happened to YOU? It has certainly never happened to me.

I have never read such a thing on any of these message boards, ever. Maybe I just missed it. But can we quietly assume nobody is taking anyone's advice about testing oneself and testing one's girl? Or is it that with all the testing and retesting of ourselves and our girls over the years, not one of us or those girls has come up with anything worth mentioning? Or is the horrible truth that it turns out all of us and our girls are riddled with HIV, drug resistant STDs and worse, but we're all too embarrassed to admit it online with our anonymous usernames? LOL. Seriously, folks.
