Other tidbits after 5 weeks in the PI
Had a great time here for just over a month. I got to spend time with regular GFE type girls in Manila, Cagayan, Cebu and Davao. Of course in between there were numerous other less regular encounters. I also had the pleasure of meeting forum members DBoy, Spam Hog and Good Enough. There were a couple of others I might have met but they were sadly unavailable.
ATMs
My Cirrus card from the States worked just fine anywhere. The Plus card I had from HSBC in the UAE was another matter. I went all over Cagayan de Oro trying it in machines that said they accepted Plus but they all spit it back saying the PIN number was wrong. When I got to the HSBC branch in Cebu it worked just fine. It could have been a problem with having a 6-digit PIN number. Banks that say they accept Plus include Equitable PCI, China Bank and Metrobank. But if you have a choice between using a Cirrus card or a Plus card I would use Cirrus.
Connections into the country besides Manila.
The number of international flights into Cebu are scheduled to increase by quite a lot in the near future, mainly to other Asian destinations. Existing routes like Seoul and Hong Kong will add flights. New routes will open to mainland China. Silk Air to Singapore is every day and Qatar Airways also will increase to every day, going to Singapore on the way to Doha. I think there's also Malaysian to Kuala Lumpur. This way you can avoid Manila, one of the worst airports in Asia if not the world. I haven't heard about increased connections to Davao. Silk Air flies to Singapore every day. Each day the route alternates between going to Cebu first or Davao first. There are also some connections to Indonesia which I hear aren't very dependable. There's also a lot of news about flights to Clark from various points in Asia.
Costs
Hotels rates have gone up noticeably in the last year. For example Marriott in Cebu was 1000 more than this time last year. Understandably with the price of oil these days, domestic flight fares have gone up somewhat. Both hotels and flights are more and more likely to be full so it's harder than it used to be to just pick up and go somewhere on a whim. Taxi fares have only gone up a little, but you have to wonder how long before they go up even more.
Happily, costs for mongering seem to have held steady. Barfines and ST prices are the same as before.
Politics and Stability
Like Domino and others have said, the place is a hopeless mess and not looking to get better anytime soon. In a jackal and vulture like way this is good for the monger, creating more and more women in 'need.' But if things get much worse then the security situation could start to go bad. Only the monumental patience of the common people holds things together now and hopefully they won't reach their limit anytime soon. I won't want to be around when they do. There's not much point in looking to the politicians for hope. I never hear of a single one that has the common good in mind. It goes without saying that any investment here is very high risk.
So how are things for the monger now?
Well, fantastic really. I felt like it was easier than ever to meet stunning women for any purpose: one night stand, wham bam, GFE, longer term commitment. It's all there. This trip was as good or better than any of the 23 other times I was here. As long as the place stays stable then it should stay one of the best places in the world for the hobby.
Finally, a girl from Club Exotica in Cebu.
