In Thailand, there is a saying that goes as if you see a snake and an Indian, first kill the Indian and then the snake. It is a completely different agenda, set of standards, and set of expectations. Natty comes here from the sex starved US and goes wild for a couple of weeks. I would imagine that I would have an attitude more like his if I was a visitor. But I'm not; I live here. And when I moved here there were many aspects of the scene that were directed at farang expats because there were a lot of us here. At least half of the dudes I would meet in Cowboy especially were expats working of retired here. Yes, there are some foreign expats here now, but far fewer than there were 20 years ago and the new younger expat farang is far less likely to monger. So in turn the market does not cater to them. It caters to tourists pretty much exclusively. Back in the "day" if a bar did not take care of residents it would struggle during low season, which was really low in BKK. That is not the case anymore. FFS, there are farang couples who walk down Cowboy to have a drink and gawk.That would have been unthinkable. Seeing a Western woman in Cowboy in the late 90s was about as likely as seeing an iceberg in the Gulf of Thailand.
And for that matter, not all change is good. Personally as a long term resident I agree with Syz, there have been no positive changes in the Thailand P4 P scene in the last 10 years. So some questions: are there more gals about? are they giving better service? do they have better attitudes? what's their price? is it the same or less work to get them? I'll answer, the gals are bigger, less attractive, there are fewer of them, it's far more expensive, it is more work to find a good one, and overall the service level is a bit less.
Add in an extremely friendly cost of living in Thailand and you had one amazing place to live. All of this combined is why many of us moved here. Did we expect it not to change? Of course not. We were not daft. All of us knew it would change. However, we come from Western nations where the pace of change is far slower than that of a developing nation, and so did not expect such radical shifts in the things we so loved about the place in such a short period of time. Bangkok has changed more in the last 10 years than my home state in the US has in 30.
In addition, the longer one lives here, the more one's eyes change. My friend's wife once said, "when farangs first come to Thailand, their eyes don't work. " Then one day you are out and about and that Isaan look just doesn't do it for you any more. And the surgery to change that look is just as bad. You find yourself attracted to white skinned BKK gals you see in malls and in offices, and Chinese tourist gals with short shorts and slutty attitudes, then when you go have a look at the oilies, the GoGos, or the FLs you see these gals who are way too dark and many way to fat. Bet you could never get the girl to understand the irony of it. When in Tijuana, I split time between between HK and Adelitas with an occasional street girl thrown in. Goatscrot, Spanish is not necessary in Tijuana if you are doing short times. With the decline of Thailand in terms of girl quality and cost, Tijuana is a decent option for a short visit. You make perfect sense for a resident and anyone who lives in Pattaya and goes to gogos for sex is mad. As a twice a year visitor I try to mix it up with a combination of online pros, semi pros, bar girls and gogo girls. Where I live there is nothing like the gogo bars and the idea of having a beer watching girls half my age dancing naked in front of me while one or two of their friends are massaging my member and being absolutely dirty little sluts appeals immensely to me.

But I still would not let him pay for anything, and will not the next time we meet up either, despite knowing how he will object.
