If you are a guest staying at the hotel you can bring back a girl to your room as long as she has a valid cedula.

I've always loved the idea of a place like Blackbeards in Puerto Plata and the Sportsman's Lodge in Costa Rica. La Mayorista is the only place in the whole of Medellin where you can consider anything like that. We already have all the girls, not to mention the many more we would attract with a setting like that. There are lots of places like that in La Mayorista, but they don't kater specially to gringos. Only My Place, but we are not an open Bar, just an "Hostal" type deal.
If there are any investors out there, I can do this at My Place by purchasing all of the adjoinning apartments in the building and a small space at street level for the Securiy guard. I would not allow any security guards into the apartment area, he would just have a post in the bottom with a couple of doors between him and the guests. He would be there just to check ID's and not allow anybody that does not have a foreign passport to come in.
Administration would let guys in once they are at the second gate. They would have keys only to the first entrance, to their apartment and to their room. Security guards would only be on the outside of the building and they would have no keys to anything. I'm just extra careful with security guards because they can be bought of.
There is a Terrace right next to My Place with a couple of rooms which could be fixed really nice for hosting BBQ'S and Parties. I'm thinking of an area where the girls would hang out and a fee of about $10US could be charged to non-guests for hanging out with the girls and they can bring their own boose, there is a liquor store right down the stairs from My Place and a Pharmacy for cheap generic Viagara right around the corner. You can then take the girls back to your hotel, to your room if you are a guest at My Place or just down the street to one of the $6-$10 Motels.
It's perfect, we have everything there. Not to mention the cheap and good restaurants right down the stairs, in case the girls get hungry. All this would cost an investor about $110kUS including repairs, approximately. Not to mention automatic Colombian Residency for investing $100KUS or more. And it would include anywhere from 11-13 rooms plus the Terrace for hosting. At our very, very, low prices of $25US a day, My Place could bring in $100kUS a year, not including revenues from Terrace entertainment ($10 entrance fee for non-guests) which could bring in an additional big $100KUS a year, for a total of $200USK a year. Think about it guys, not to mention with Mango's, The Dollhouse, Palmahia and the subway all within walking distance.

$100k doesn't get you an investors visa anymore if the money is invested in real estate. They recently bumped it to $200k.
You must be a dum barstard, Hotel Casa Blanca Medellin has a policy of "if you are not a guests, no entry" simple as that.
As for bar-fine, theirs not one and has never been one as we do not make any commission on any girl, some people find that hard to accept.
Again, just to get it right, if your not staying at Casa Blanca, no entry.

this report is long overdue, as i have been lurking for awhile and not really doing much in the way of contributing. just returned from spending a
week in medellin with a few friends, all of us late 20's to mid 30's. i have previously traveled to rio and cartagena. i speak so-so spanish and my friends. ummmm, not so much. from reading many of the trip reports on isg, my impression is that a majority of people here travel solely for p4p action. not knocking anyone who does, but let's just say that p4p for me is more of a side dish than a main course. the plan was basically to check out what medellin has to offer: regular bars/clubs, casas, strip clubs, street walkers, and tourist stuff like metrocable, pablo escobar house, downtown, buy souveneirs, etc. all prices are in us dollars. so here is how it went:
wednesday-
hit up parque lleras for dinner. great place to grab dinner and a few drinks before heading out. this place is full of people thur-sat and lots
of small bars on the adjacent streets. if you are looking to hang out with regular colombians or pick-up chicks, this is not the place. it's more of a place where the upper-middle class goes to hang out with friends. next we go to blue nightclub in parque lleras. this appears to be where the "in" crowd goes. the place is packed like sardines, but like parque lleras, not a pick-up spot. we tire easily of blue nightclub, so it's time to go to san diego grill strip club. this place has a decent variety of girls and is worth checking out. prices are $10 cover which includes 2 beers. girls charge $60 for 1/2 hour. can't remember exactly much for take-out, but i do remember it was too much!
thursday-
off to la mayorista. this place basically contains 70% skanks, 25% very questionable, and 5% doable. it's kind of neat that you can hang-out outside, drink a few beers, and watch the scenery. this area is definitely grimy and seedy. chicas cost approx $20 for short time. this is not really my type of scene. kind of reminded me of driving down the wrong street in atlantic city. next we go to the strip clubs in el centro. we go to las americas first, but there are two others that are on the same block. i would say there are a few gems at these clubs, but in general, the girls are very much average. i found a nice little morena who agreed to $50 for all night(more on this chica later). my friends tire easily of the el centro strip clubs, so we then head to face dos. arrive at face dos and wooooooow! this place is a big step up from the other places. there is a good variety of women and they also appear to have bathed recently! yes, i know they are still skanks, but at least they are clean skanks! drinks were kind of pricey, about $7. short time is approx $75 for an hour, which to me is a good deal for this quality of puta. i then talk with a couple of the average looking girls there to find out their rates for an all nighter, as this is what my friends were interested in. the interest didn't last very long because the girls wanted $175! are you kidding me? yes, that includes the exit fee you pay to the bar, but those prices are insane for colombia. i end up finding a tiny little paisa in face dos and she agrees to come over during the day for $100 (more on her later).
friday-
wanted to do something a little different, so we decide to take the metrocable up to santo domingo. we take the metro to the acevedo station and then transfer to the metrocable (k-line). the metro is super clean and cheap. santo domingo is a very poor area, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the people taking the metrocable. the ride up to santo domingo gives you a great view. we get off at the 2nd to last stop and this area is almost surreal as this area has quite a reputation for violence and it is clearly very poor, but you see all these little kids playing by themselves all over the street. we basically stayed very close to the metrocable station and didn't venture out. maybe this area is fairly safe for residents, but doubt it's safe for me. not really sure what to think of this area, but everyone is staring at me like they've never seen a gringo, and it's starting to get dark, so we head back down the metrocable.
saturday-
we go to energy, which is a casa near barrio estadio. i have to say this was a great experience. the place is nice and there is a selection of maybe 20-30 girls! no nasty putas here. and the price was right at $40. hit up parque lleras again at night and the place is packed with people. very nice eye candy! great tex-mex restaurant is ay caramba! after dinner, my friends want to hang out at the bars in parque lleras. i convince them that this is not the place we want to be and that we should head out to an area where there are fewer americans. i decide to take them to la 33, which is a street lined with bars/clubs. colombians love to party and my friends soon learned that a great time was to be had by hanging out with real colombians. they were a bit aprehensive at first due to their lack of spanish skills, but after a few drinks, found the colombianas to be very inviting. we leave the club at 3am and head to palmahias which is said to be one of the biggest clubs in medellin. when we arrive, the main club appears to be closed, so we hang out at a few of the small bars that are attached to palmahias. previous reports said that prepagos hang out here, so we gave it a shot, but to no avail. but it was amazing that even at 3:30 there were lots of people still arriving. i seriously wonder whattime this place closes!
sunday-
off to la manzana, which is where strippers/prepagos are rumored to hang out after work. i get there around 11pm and there are maybe 3-4 not so great looking girls. the place is a bit dingy. pretty sure the place is in el centro. maybe this spot is worth checking out later at night.
monday-
during the day i go to parque botero, which is worth checking out if you are into taking pictures, etc. there were a few girls that were about a block from the main park. if you face the museum with the naked lady in front, walk to your left and then make another left. you should see a few girls there. i take a pass on these girls as they look kind of young. while in parque botero i meet an 19 year old college student who gives me her number. she is cute, but she only wanted to go out on thursday, which didn't work out for me. i then call the negra from the centro strip club and she comes over to my apartment. after i hung up, i realize that i forgot to ask her how much her services would cost. it couldn't cost any more than what she quoted me for tln, right? lol. this was a big mistake! she comes over and we go swimming and she is pretty cool. we then start drinking some rum, and she drinks a lot, and i drink a lot more! this was mistake number 2! she performs well, and isn't mechanical at all, so everything was going good. then i realize that i drank too much and it basically sucks when you get sick. i think she prob saw this as an opportunity to make some more money, because she knew that i just wanted her to get the hell out of the apartment. i end up giving her a total of $100, which is $50 more than she wanted for tln a few days ago. this is extortion! also, i think she may have scammed about $20 that was sitting on the table. fortunately i had everything else hidden well, and i wasn't so messed up that i was passed out. not sure if she would have stolen my stuff if she had the opportunity, but this was clearly a lesson learned.
tuesday-
i go by myself to check out the casas in el centro. to make a long story short, i went to 5-6 casas and several were closed. the open casas had only 3-4 girls and they were pretty nasty, some even had nasty lesions of some sort on their skin! i was there around noon, so maybe some of these were closed because it was lunch time? anyway, this was a big waste of time. while in el centro, i decide to hit up parque bolivar. this area is ok. if you want to see something. ummmm, diferent, stand by the bolivar statue and face the church and off to your 9 o'clock you will see a street. walk down this street a block and you will see a seriously fucked up situation: chicks with sticks, homeless kids all fucked up, definitely **** girls, and also people with fucked up arms and body parts. this is what shotguns are made for, and i wish i would have had one with me! but seriously, i don't know if this area is dangerous, but really wouldn't recommend that anyone go there. as far as the girls in parque bolivar, there are a few hanging out, but they reminded me of the type of girl in la mayorista. btw- if you are into buying souvenirs there is walking area that is lined with shops (junin) that is connected to plaza bolivar. at night i head to es la bon in el centro to do some salsa dancing. this place has a live band and great variety of people. i meet a colombiana there by herself and i get the feeling she is a prepago. she is all kissing on me and i ask her to come back to my place. she seems really stupid and flakey, so i was pretty sure she would say yes, even if she wasn't a prepago. well, she says no, and then tries to get me to pay for her drinks. i tell her she is a puta with a smile on my face and walk away. there were a few backpackers who watch me as i tell this puta off, and they try to hold back their laughter. the people at this place are really cool, though def not a pick-up place.
wednesday-
at about 2pm i call up the tiny chica from face dos and she agrees to come over for $100. it sounded like i woke her up. oh, the rough life ofa prepago! she comes over and looks great! she asks if she can eat some food, which is kind of a bad sign to me, but i really didn't care. well, she eatsa lot for a little girl! pizza, fruit, cereal, chips, etc. we then go to the swimming pool, but she tells me that she forgot her swimsuit. she then takes off her shorts and swims in her thong and tiny bra. the guy cleaning the pool tries not to stare, though he seemed to take his time cleaning the pool! this chick loves to swim. she then hops in the sauna and you can tell she is having a good time. there is a gym next to the pool and she hops on the stairclimber which is quite the funny sight! you can tell she has never worked out in her life. i was just glad that there wasn't anyone around besides the pool guy! we then take care of business in the sauna. this chick has a slamming little body! we head back to the apartment and i pay her. she takes off and on the way out she asks if she can take like 1, 500 in pesos/coins that is on the counter which to me was hard to believe, so i slap her hand and she leaves without the money and smiles. i then go to the bathroom and quickly realize that she stole my chapstick! this is unbelievable!

i had lined up a few women to meet via the net, but didn't have much success. the ones i went out with all wanted to go out again, but it just seemed like this was way too time consuming and i didn't have that much interest in the ones i did meet with. there were several that i did correspond with, but they turned out to be flakes. as far as the regular bars go, the party scene in medellin thur-sat is great! the one big disadvantage with colombia is that most women are accompanied by men when they go to bars/clubs. seems like they go out to party and most aren't looking to get picked-up, like in the us. and for some reason i feel like i'm wasting my friday or saturday night by going out partying with 1 girl while in colombia. i've had some success in the past in cartagena/rio picking-up non pros from bars. not sure if i have just been lucky, or maybe it is because the girls are on vacation. not really sure. it definitely isn't that hard to get phone numbers if you make the effort, but didn't really have the time nor patience for any dating rituals.
impressions of medellin:
- nice and clean city
- difficult to get around if you stay in poblado (lots of hills and long walk to everything)
- very friendly people
- cab drivers have no idea where they are going in poblado
- daytime activities somewhat lacking if you aren't into banging skanks in el centro
- more americans and backpackers in medellin than you could imagine
comparison to cartagena:
- everything in cartagena is much more convenient- in cartagena i can stay in laguito and walk across the street to: la dolce vida, atm, restaurants, the beach.
- el centro in cartagena is amazing at night- have dinner in one of the plazas and take a stroll to any of the bars. if the bars don't pan out, walk to one of
the bars with p4p chicas.
- p4p action is cheaper- i am referring to picking up attractive women at night. don't have to pay a bar fine at la dolce vida. can't remember exact prices, but i know for a fact it was cheaper than face dos!
- atmosphere in mayorista, casas, strip clubs- well, i have a lot more fun hanging out at ldv or help in rio de janeiro because it's a much more laid back atmosphere where you can hang out and talk to the girls. it just seems like it's a much easier process to find the girls that are going to be fun and worth spending money on.
- daytime activities- cartagena has the beach, which is a good place to meet non-pros or also a great place to meet up with non-pros that you previously met. do you really think a lot of non-pros are going to accept an invitation to your apartment in medellin during the day? well, they might, but it's def a harder sell!
it seems like medellin has very specific places you have to go to meet prepagos. and if you don't want to drop serious cash, you either have to bang skanks, or you have to have a specific plan, like meeting freelancers in the strip clubs and setting up a daytime date with them. i guess the energy casa would be an exception to this. maybe there are more options if you are better connected. but if you are fairly well connected in colombia it doesn't seem like getting non-pros is a problem either. i can't say enough how the convenience factor is much better in cartagena. and it is even more convenient in rio. i mean the p4p girls in rio are everywhere- the beach, walking in the street, the cafes/bars on copacabana, the termas, help. and the selection in brazil is amazing. if you can dream of a specific type of girl you want, you will find her at or near help! it's been a long time since i've been to rio, so not sure if it has changed much. anyway, i have to say that after hearing so many good things about medellin, it was quite a disappointment. it wasn't really bad. in fact, it's a nice city. if i was going to live in a large city in colombia, this would probably be it. but for a vacation, i would just say that it is an ok place.
and btw- go to bodytek gym at 6pm during the week. you can thank me later!

I would like to purchase a studio apartment, or one bedroom apartment in Medellin. Poblado, Laureles, or any good sector in the city. Can I find a reasonably priced place? I don't like to spend a lot of money, since I only want to use it for mongering while I am there. Any suggestions from fellow mongers or members who already live there?
As for residency, I am working on it and can obtain it easily, I already have a bank account in Colombia and can do bank to bank transfer easily for the amount I wish.

[/QUOTE]Thanks for the report. I'm making my first trip July 4th weekend. Based upon my research and your report, I'm thinking I won't like Medellin as much as Costa Rica, Brazil, and the DR. I've been reading reports raving about Medellin for years and still plan on going to experience it one way or another. I'm one who prefers places like the former Help Disco in Rio, Del Rey Casino and Key Largo Disco in Costa Rica, and Blackbeards Resort in the DR. Seems like other cities like Cartegena(Dolce Vita) have more options in the way of what I like than Medellin. Let's see out it plays out.
