Thailand is an anomaly. When a monger goes to monger in Thailand or even a tourist goes to Thailand, they are not seeing the real Thailand in places like Pattaya and Phuket. Those places were created for foreign tourists. I really did not realize this until 5 years ago when I took my girlfriend on a trip to Koh Tao. While there it struck me that absolutely no Thai people were vacationing there. It was ALL foreigners. Even 95% of the service people were from like Myanmar and other countries close by. There I was on a poppin island in Thailand and there weren't any Thai people. I was like where are the Thai people. My girlfriend said: 1. They can't afford vacation like that. 2. The people that can afford it go to colder climates such as Korea for vacation. So here we were in Thailand on a whole island that was made just to cater to foreigners.
If you go to Walking Street in Pattaya or Bangla Road in Phuket or Soi Cowboy in Bangkok, you are not going to find normal Thai men that are out to party or whatever. You are not going to hear Thai music besides the occasional one new wave song they will play every so often to hype the girls up. These are places for foreigners.
When Thai chicks go to these places to pick up foreigners they know they will need English. So they study it in the music and the TV. They adapt to languages and shit better and faster than any other culture (food not so much). I used to mess with a chick that I met in the club all because I had on a Brazil Jersey and she started speaking Portuguese to me. I was shocked. Long story short she met a Brazilian guy in Pattaya and he had her come to Sao Paulo. He put her in an apartment but turns out he was married. He would not buy her a ticket back. She said she got a dictionary and started watching TV and that is how she learned Portuguese. She got a job at a bakery but it got raided and she got deported back to Thailand. If you go to Thailand you will find Thai chicks speaking all kinds of languages because they cater to the men they deal with: Arabic, Japanese, Hindi, German, Swedish, Russian, and the list goes on. It amazes me.

It's like Kenya in that regard but it's actually worse in the DR it's the culture. The reason opinions vary so much on this issue is because different guys are looking for different things from the girls. I know guys who come to MDE and speak no spanish but still want to hang out first with the chica in a bar or cook her dinner and only able to communicate thru their phones. I am trying to figure out how to obtain a cedula extranjero, it was the only thing that slowed my progress down as far as staying in Medellin and actually earning money from Colombians. Otherwise everything else was great. I am home doing a little exercising as I gained a lot of weight being in Medellin during the quarantine. I will return real soon for a short stay sometime in January, and then I will take a 6 month break to gather up resources for my next adventure.
Here in America you can move around a little more than you could during the quarantine, just the walking and exercising has shredded some pounds off of me, none of which I could do while in Medellin. The areas in which I stayed, I didn't know them well enough to walk around without getting lost, so I stayed mostly inside unless I returned to Centro. I am trying to figure out the process of obtaining a cedula extranjero and then I can carry out some of my plans like buying a car, motorcycle, renting an apartment at the Colombian rate for services without going through a third party. There are many business opportunities in Medellin if you study the people.
I have many great memories and fotos from my 8 month stay. I will post some of the photos when I get a chance to as I have been super busy since I returned to America. I came home took a Covid test, it was negative after 8 months, but I did limit myself to the people that I was around for long periods of time. I have some super great stories to tell, I just have been reading the stories of others and allowing them to have fun while they are in Medellin. I am enjoying reading many of the adventures.
