Ever since then, after I turn the key in the lock I give the door a tug to make sure it is locked.

I am relating this story just to illustrate the level of honesty in the locker room. If somebody had stolen something, as another customer easily could have, it would have been my own fault, so this nice lady saved my ass. I have never forgotten that. This is why L'uomo has a special place in my esteem and remains my favorite termas. As for the garotas having the key for a few minutes, so you think for a minute that these attendants would let these girls anywhere near a locker? Absurd. Can you imagine what would happen to a termas' reputation, and business, if this practice became common. You and your belongings are perfectly safe at L'uomo and probably any other high end termas.

So many mongers like to build this mom and pop fantasy in their heads about how the termas is managed. Makes the sessions more realistic, feels a little less like whatring. This is not the first time stuff has gone missing from a termas locker. I've never had stuff go missing from a locker, but have had my bill padded a few time at L'oumo. This still comes under the label of stealing in my book. Always better to remember that you are just another john and the object of the game is to get as much money from you as possible.

If you are a 100% sure that your money was stolen at L'uomo. I would be more inclined to suspect one of the johns. The locks on the lockers are not very secure. I've been in that locker room many times and there's been no attendant.

Having a bill padded is a different matter entirely. That has been discussed here ad nauseum from restaurants, hotels, bars, termas, etc. It is up to you to review the bill before you settle it. Can be intentional or not. I've had it happen everywhere in the world - but actually never personally in Rio. On a side note: I have noticed Brazilian men love to dispute any bill they get. Makes hotel check-out time in Centro a real drag. That and the fact that Brazilians don't know the meaning of waiting in line. I had a guy almost attack me yesterday at the mini-market when I made him go to the back of the line. I politely told him that I would be glad to teach him some social skills outside and he apologized and left. Everyone has the idea that Brazilians are happy all the time - when in fact many are mostly miserable.
