The term "the customer is always right" was coined about 100 years ago, you can google the origin and why it came about but it has not been a business model for 50 years or more.

A gogo bar doesn't want customers to sit on their own and just drink. The girls and bar earn nothing this way. Most importantly if the best girls are not earning money they will move somewhere else to where they do.

Ultimately if you want the best out of any gogo bar you to be at least aware of what they expect. I know dealing with this industry worldwide is not exactly the easiest but the odd THB 100 here (US $3) and there is all that is needed to keep everyone happy and ensure a good time by all.[/QUOTE]Many good points there. But, to further the discussion with regard to the supposed go-go bar business of enticing (or is the better word here "expecting"?) the customer to buy Lady Drinks and pay a barfine to take a girl for sex, as I look around the bars from opening to closing, I would be surprised if as high a percentage as 20% of customers who routinely enter a go-go bar do this instead of sitting with their own drink. I'm guessing if as many as 10% of the customers who enter "XYZ" go-go bar bought Lady Drinks and/or barfined out the girls it would be a very successful bar indeed. In fact, such a bar would probably be tapped out of all girls by 10-11PM or so except for the ones who were by then returning from their first or second barfine. And we know there is virtually no go-go bar in Bangkok or Pattaya where that happens.

And on the other side, I would be rather shocked to discover that as much as 15% of the customers who pass through their doorway make a fuss, complain about everything, depress the staff and so on. Maybe, what, 2% at most? I would submit the "65%" in the middle that you stated you still make money on in your business is probably more like 85-90% in the typical go-go bar.

I know you were not saying the percentages that your business experienced would or ought to be about the same for a go-go bar. But if your winning 20% of good customers by your definition was reduced so that only 10% or less of the customers who you deal with were inspired enough by the product or service you offered to actually lay out money for it rather than standing there immobile and uninspired to make the decision to buy and ultimately deciding an hour or more later to move on to the next shop, wouldn't you suspect maybe you ought to take a look at the quality and value of the product or service you offered as the likely culprit for your failure to close the deal more often than that rather than blame the customers?

Even if I order just one beer and sit there for hours you're making some profit. What do I cost you exactly? Your business is mainly a fixed-cost business; all the staff, lights, music, etc. Will be there and cost you with or without me sitting there. It's not that you're running at 100% capacity and I am stealing a seat that otherwise a high-value customer could take. Quite the opposite, me sitting there plus some of my buddies who also order one beer only, your place looks much more interesting from outside than if it is half empty. It's also not like you're going to hire ten waitresses or dancers more because of me; they are there anyways running at 70-80% capacity. I am good for your business because I increase your fixed cost degreassion. Maybe I use the toilet once or twice, so feel free to deduct that bit of water, toilet paper, and soap from the beer's profit margin. The boring-one-beer-visitor is still a profitable segment.

She first asked me money telling she knows someone in police and would call. When I said go ahead she was numb, all the time I was trying to be polite. But when she wouldn't leave and start attacking what choice do we have left! Even while leaving the room she tried taking a photo of me. I was lucky to have all my valuables locked up in the locker otherwise you can't be sure she leaving with one of your items. However, it's always better to ask them upfront and ask the hotel reception to check their ID if you are in Thailand.

They started asking most non Jap clients to buy drinks before entering somewhere in 2016. However in early 2018 I was shocked when they pulled members only BS on me. I have read few more reports of this happening now a days. Looks like they are becoming the next CH or Rainbow 1.

Not sure if that applies to everyone or only to 'certain identifiable groups'. But I would have bought a drink anyway. I didn't get any kind of "members only" story.

It is low season but Baccara was packed inside. See my review a few pages back for my thoughts on Baccara.

BTW, I'm the same guy who was told to pay 500 THB to enter Crazy House, and I'm 100% sure it was due to having the wrong skin colour. This matches many other identical reports on Google Maps Reviews.

It's funny because here in Pattaya it's the Japanese gogo bar guys who walk in and walk out the most.

For Baccara it's quite simple. I'm not sure why guys still make confused assumptions about this place. I've been there over 1000 times in 4 years and barfined over 60 girls there and this is best advice you will get. By the way, there are other Asians besides Japanese that frequent this bar. So calling it Japanese only or Japanese preferred is incorrect. Baccara makes most of its money off barfined girls, sex, and the owner's short time hotel across the way. So they want customers who drink and pay for sex. Those are the clients they prefer. Those who come to only drink and try to grope on girls will get spotlighted quick. Girls want to get paid their 3000-10000 baht, not 50 baht per drink.

1. Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Taiwanese, Hong Kong or anyone who looks East Asian (non Indian) generally have no problem getting entry.

2. White westerners generally have no problem getting entry.

3. Any race where they bring a girlfriend or a girl along will have to buy a drink before entry. Baccara is a barfine club. Not a show.

4. Any race when it's full and you are not a regular will have to buy a drink before entry. When it's full, they don't want people walk in and look around and walk out. Usually around 10-10:30 is peak time.

5. If you have a history of coming and not barfining, at peak times you will be asked to buy your drink before entry.

6. Indians need to come early and with above groups #1 or #2 or may be denied entry. 7:30 they open and are empty. Better chance to get in. Indians or Middle Eastern looking guys coming alone or in a group will probably be denied.

7. Black westerners generally have no problem getting entry.

Here is a hint: If you are allowed entry even if it's requires buying a drink outside first. Do so. Then buy a drink and make friends with the bald headed fat white guy who walks with a cane and sits at the door. His name is Sam I think. He will remember you and you will never have any issues getting in again. I've been able to get in at anytime, accompanied by any race, and even with other girls. And this is without having to buy drinks before entry.

If enough fellow Indians do that, the problem will likely go away.

Any girl leaving the club with a non Asian will lose face (and business). She might take your number or give out hers if you live in Bangkok and might become a regular client in the slow season. You'll always meet these girls from these clubs outside the bar.

Only very few make eye contact from the stage. Most wait for the guy to choose them. Someone mentioned it's the submissiveness trait that Japanese men prefer.

It's fairly difficult for anyone to sit in a gogo bar for long without having to order a first drink. After that they can milk the drink as long as they want. Never seen a gogo bar forcing someone to order a second drink, at least in Pattaya.
