In their mind, if business is down and not many gringo mongers customers around, instead of dropping their prices, they raise the price to try and make up for the lost revenue. Avianca does not give Colombians an extra hour to show up to the airport before the flight leaves because they know Colombians are flaky and it is their culture not to get somewhere on time. If they know it matters that they are at a place on time then they will be there. If they figure it does not matter to be at a place on time then they will say fuck it and get there when they get there.

They see those sorts of numbers and try it on. SA would be seen as a higher price venue than FB and as their friends talk they probably know some that have got the bigger paychecks on SA. So they try. I don't think it is being stupid. What they get, and what they do, are another thing. Lots of them have done the Gusto's type market, the FB market, the street market in Lleras area, and they have done or know about prices in the casas, in Centro, etc. Etc. I think generally most of them know there these numbers as well as any of us on the other side of the market. They get what they can, when they can, where they can.
And you are right, eventually if there are enough of them on there and it does drive the asking and getting prices down they will know soon enough.

It should be considered if you want this money then you will be here on time, just like a regular job. But since guys accept them viewing it as a social appointment, then they will continue to get there when they want.
