IMO Mede and Bogota Lack the golf, fishing, hiking, etc that the cost cities have to offer. If you're looking for a batchelor party type trip. Drinks, clubs, restaurants, party, party favors; p.

Mede is the way to go with Bogota a distant 4th IMO (I used to go for work, a blessing and a curse).

I was hoping that they would get rid off this policy with their last changes to rid off some of their policies, they still stuck with this. I am planning a Colombia and Dominican vacation with time split between the two countries. I am trying to build an itinerary of (NYC area) USA to Medellin to Santiago, DR back to the USA (NYC area).

So far I am at about $2,000 in airfare for the three legs. I have to believe that there is a cheaper regional carrier that goes between Colombia and the Dominican Republic. Any of you Latin America travel vets have any tips? Thanks!

I may just skip the Dominican Republic and head straight to Bogota or Cartagena.

Spirit flies from La Guardia to PTY for $193 plus whatever robbery they charge for your luggage. PTY to SDQ is $500 RT non-stop on Copa and PTY to MDE is $233. MDE to NYC is $253. So you could fly into PTY, do a round trip to SDQ and back to PTY, and then two more one ways. That would cost you around $1,250 with luggage fees on Spirit.

Remember Economics 101: the higher the supply, the lower the price. Just like when De Beers took over the diamond market. They limited the supply of diamonds going out so that the price would rise. Diamonds (which are intrinsically worthless - it's a damn rock for goodness sake) could be bought at next to nothing if they put the ones they are hoarding into the market. Same as the oil producing countries do. They slow down the production and the price goes up. Same reason I refuse to pay a lot for pussy. There are billions of them walking around just like acorns falling off of trees. There is nothing that makes one worth $100 in my eyes. Now if you happened to go to some remote location where there were only 2 or 3 pussies available then $100 may be justifiable.

Lou23, I just booked a business class from Ohio to MIA, then from MIA to MDE combined total $450 one way. I timed a few hours layover in MIA so just in case of delays, I will not miss my flight to MDE. I used delta and Avianca, man was it cheap. Also, I fly on Tuesdays as these are the less traffic days so more open seats and less demand. I checked other sites to compare, yes it does take time but I saved about $500 bucks. I know booking a round trip is sometimes cheaper but I am a open end traveler, I leave when I feel like leaving and don't put the pressure to try and do a lot of things in a little time frame.
