An 8 months lag time twixt injection and protection would be a bummer for sure. I can't speak definitively, but here are two credible sources confirming just a brief, one to two weeks wait for immunity to kick in after being vaccinated, which is consistent with my recollection of mainstream news reports over the last month (BBC, NY Times). The CDC website doesn't seem to include any guidance on this in their FAQs.

Because that's where they were, and the people that targeted them know where they are. I suspect that you are much more likely to have something put in your drink in Parque Lleras than anywhere downtown. You are more likely to have a couple or three guys follow you and try to roll you for what you have on you in Centro.

So for walking around having a stroll. Probably Poblado is safer, again depending on where you are, time of day. As for partying in a bar with a couple of chicas who seem to think you are great and want to party hard. Poblado, parque Lleras. Police there have said it is very dangerous. Guys are getting scoped lots, some end up od'd and dead. So never let your drink out of your sight, don't accept open drinks from strangers, don't go home with a couple of chicas after having a few drinks.

You get the second injection three weeks later and the data showed that your risk of Covid went down by 95% two weeks after getting that shot.

With the Moderna vaccine, you get a 80 to 85% reduction in expectation of catching Covid for four weeks. When you get your second injection four weeks after the first, the reduction in getting Covid goes to 95% after two more weeks.

I got the Moderna vaccine yesterday. Based on the data, I think my leaving 5 to 6 weeks after getting this first injection is the most rational course, but I am leaving a day after the second shot because I am an inpatient and horny motherfucker who thinks an 80% or so reduction is good enough.

As far as eight months out or later, shit, the amount of data available is so tiny that I would not trust anything anybody said on that.

Bulevar Botero a couple of doors away is the same routine. I recently discovered there are long term residents on its upper floor. I think that explains how it remained open during the entire four month lockdown. I found it very helpful.
