Now as for the Thai barbers, there is no excuse for not knowing how to shave a man's face if your running a Barber shop. There are simple steps you must follow. First you have to use the clippers to trim a beard down, then preferably use the foil trimmers to shave it down even further. Then a hot towel is usually used on the face to soften the skin before the straight razor. And before you use the fucking straight razor, you actually have to make sure its fucking sharp by sharpening that *****. As you shave the face, you should even be sharpening it on the leather strop. And the strokes should be small and precise so you don't cut the man your shaving. It should be a pleasant relaxing experience. Not frightening, painful, and full of worry some kid is going to slice your face open. Once the shave is done, again a hot towel should be applied before some after shave to disinfect your face.
These barbers are just lathering you up with shaving cream and shaving you down with a dull straight razor and taking way to big strokes to get it done as soon as possible and cutting the shit out of your face. It took 30 minutes to stop bleeding and my face was stinging when I touched it for 2 days and had a visible razor burn rash.
Its not rocket science. Go to any barber shop in Latin America or a major American city and they will be on point and you will get an excellent shave. As for his complaints against barbers of Thailand, I cannot invalidate his personal experiences. I can say that have not had a problem receiving quality services from a barber from the first week I was wheels down in the country until now. Even provided a referral that I have given to several of my friends and have received good reports back from them even when my particular Barber was not available.
Some people simply cannot be happy. But that is their problem not ours.
