Do any of you mongers have anything good to say about the sports massage places in Songtan City? The last time I was here there were some barber shops outside the main gate that offered relief. But they seem to be gone, or I forgot where they were.

After reading through the reports here, I decided to try out some of the hotels during a few recent trips to Songtan. Being that I like to keep most of my money for other uses, I decided to stay away from the Young Chon and went to the Sun Motel. For 35K, it's not a bad place. It does lack a computer or Internet connection, so print out your reports, if you can't remember what you read. ;)
My next stay was at the NamSan motel, just up the hill from the Young Chon, near the train tracks. As I recall, this place cost me 30K. It seemed a little older and in worse shape than the Sun Motel. Still, it was not a bad room for the price.
Finally, I tried out the D Motel (the Korean script spells the name out as Drama). It's located past the train tracks. If you head away from the Namsan motel toward the tracks, there is an underpass. After taking this to cross to the other side of the tracks, the D Motel is on your left. An immediate left turn onto a drive that parallels the tracks takes you to the back entrance of the motel parking lot. This was by far the best place that I stayed in. 36K for a pretty nice room with a PC connected to the Internet, and a large TV. The only drawbacks were the noise from the trains going by, and it's a bit of a walk to the clubs.
I thought about trying the Asia Hotel on the main route going to the base main gate. However, I saw the web site for the hotel, and the lowest price listed is 80K. Plus they have a set of rules that reads similar to a military enlistment contract!
Onto the action.
After carousing around to several places listed here, I was starting to get bored with the routines that most of the places run. I decided to go to a couple of places that I knew from a long while back. The first was empty, and the girls were all ready to go home. (I was out well past the military curfew.) So I was headed back to the motel when I noticed another place that I remember being a not so pushy for the LD's. When I went in, all but one of the girls were sitting at a table eating. The other girl was sitting with some Korean men, looking bored to death. So I decided to sit close by and try to talk with her a little. After working out the price, I gave ajuma the money, and waited to get my change. Ajuma started trying to push me out the door, and I told them I wanted my change. They finally gave it to me, and I left with the girl telling me to wait at my motel for her. After waiting at the motel for over an hour, I was beginning to think I had been ripped off. But the doorbell finally rang, and I was surprised to find 2 of the girls there. I thought I had just got the 2 for 1 special, but her friend just wanted to warm up before going on. After her friend left, my girl came to me and sat on my lap for a while watching TV and talking a little. I was beginning to think that nothing was going to happen, so I asked her about it. Just an add on note to my last message.
If anyone prefers to stay on base, the Turumi Lodge charges $28 a night. The rooms are very nice. They have wireless internet available (only in the lobby currently), refridgerator, microwave, cable tv, and free laundry machines. If hassling with the gate guards doesn't bother you, this is a nice, inexpensive way to stay in the Songtan area (for those with access to the base, that is).
If anyone else has experience with the other hotels / motels around town, please post up the information about them (cleanliness, price, ammenities...etc.).

I just left Korea and I was in Gunsan. Appox 30 minutes north west from Jeonju. If I was going there, I would go to Gunsan, if you have time. If you do, go to A-town and there is around 12 to 14 bars full of Filipinas and a hotel is 30,000 won appox 5 minutes away. If you go around 11 pm and set it up with the girl, she can leave at 12 am with you. PM me for any other details.
