A Q from a guru? ok I'll jump in...
I say yes if she is in to you. The few I'm working now I have arrangements based on how many pops per day, how much photography I'm allowed, etc. This seems to keep them anxious to please in order for more thb. Sorry I haven't been posting much as the girls on TLL have been keeping me busy. Happy hour, Sheraton Grand, PM me. Have an extra phone number or 2. See for your self. Chok dee
A question for guys currently in BKK, in relation to the prices coming down a bit.
If you go with one of your regular girls that you have seen several or many times before, do you find that the girl is currently happy to accept a lower payment tahn previously, given that everyone is suffering under the economic crises, or does it [CodeWord140] girls off if suddenly start wanting to pay less than before?
Bangkok: Tumbling tumbleweeds...
I just spent a fun week in Bangkok (and have posted part of this on Giotto's thread), Chronologically it reads backward (huh?)
Yesterday, I thought I saw a tumbleweed on the motorway on the way to the airport...
Once at Suvarnabhumi I was informed that my 1:50 pm Air Asia flight to Krabi was canceled, (no e-mail or SMS). No information as to why, of course, but I suspect it was for lack of passengers. I then had to wait five hours for the next flight (which was about 3/4ths full). While killing time, I noticed on the schedule board that a number of domestic flights had been canceled. Somehow, by the grace of the travel gods I was back on Koh Lanta by 9 pm. Amazing Thailand!
Suvarnabhumi, the world's 18th busiest airport, was eerily quiet for December 10. In fact, I saw many more workers than travelers. No lines (ques for you non-yanks) even at the AA check-in counters. I saw no indication of the PAD takeover except for the dozen or so policemen sitting (sleeping?) under a tent at a checkpoint about 2km from the terminal. I wonder why they even bother to carry guns? I did hear, though, (from reliable unnamed sources close to the queen), that the PAD looted all the whiskey and smokes from the King Power shops.
Thailand is looking a lot more like drug-war addled Mexico as each day passes...
At the big motorway turn leading to the terminal I noticed that one of the biggest highway billboards is now blank, and the big flat screen TV ads are fading quickly. Lots of "For Rent" signs on buildings everywhere along the motorway. Many shops are closing in the busy Silom District, too.
Silom Road highs and lows...
Two nights ago at about 9 pm, I joined some friends for a drink at the trendy spendy Vbar at the big Sofitel Hotel on Silom Rd. . In the hotel lobby, there was no one other than employees when we walked in, and upstairs, just a few folks in the bar. Saw some great views of Bangkok from 37-floors above the quiet madness.
Later on, we went to the Cleo Beer Bar on Patpong Soi 2 (right outside the Star of Light). The ancient beer bar turned out to be way more fun than the Sofitel, (and the drinks were a lot cheaper). They've got a few cute & friendly, young girls there, (check out Khun Mai), beers at only 70-80 baht, and the bar fine (Cheap Charlie alert!) for Isaan's finest is only 400 baht. Conveniently, if you are impatient, bored and horny, SOL is right next door.
Saturday afternoon, I stopped by my favorite Silom Road massage shop, "Happy Massage," next to the deserted Narai Hotel. There were 10 girls working and so far that day there had been no customers. Before ascending to the 4th floor for my regular FS massage, (btw, I love Thailand), I gave Khun Net, (my favorite Happy lady), 500 baht to buy the shop girls dinner. That way, to my relief, all the lovely ladies with the sad, dark eyes were now theoretically happy and im lao (full), at least until the next meal (and they love me)! There are some cute young lassies waiting for customers there...check it out!
Fine dining...
One evening after I got a buzz-cut on Soi 5, we enjoyed a meal at the old lounge lizard's paradise, The Check-Inn. If you haven't been there, it's tucked back from the sidewalk on Sukhumvit btwn. Sois 5 & 7. Good steak, pretty Filipinas singing, and some MILF-type hostesses waiting for interested parties to take them away. My gig liked the tum yum kung and the Baileys on the rocks for dessert.
Another good meal was had at the non-descript Lek Seafood right next to the Chong Nonsi BTS Station. Squid, clams, fried fish -- it was all good & cheap (about 750 baht for 3 people with beers and tip)!
Wanna buy a watch?
Only bad part of the trip was learning that my favorite old Omega Seamaster (Sean Connery 007 model) is toast after blowing out the stem while diving at 25 meters below the Andaman Sea off of Palau Weh last month. The Omega shop wanted 11,000 baht to fix it (yikes -- three months and parts from Switzerland!). Maybe I can sell it for parts on eBay? Anyone know where to buy a watch in Bangkok?
I'll be back through the City of Angels in a week or so and I'm already looking forward to more fun and games. In the meantime, I need to walk a lot on the beach to work off the kilo I gained last week.
But, what will January bring? Lottery tickets? More Elections? Foreigner Kidnappings? Food Riots? Lower prices???
