Day 6 Cont'd.

Lots of construction going on around the odd numbered sois at Thong Lo. Even the side door to enter Momo is blocked off. I walk in and pay for 90 minutes. The food is good and for 3 dishes cost less than 250 baht.

I get on the BTS and get off Asok station and decide to head into Thermae and just look. I walked down to Soi 15 to take the back entrance (just for a change of pace) but it's been closed off. I go back to the front of Thermae and as I'm about to walk in a medium sized rat emerges from near the steps entering the shop.

I walk in and order a Singha and stroll through the bar. Thermae is packed and the talent is much better than the previous night. I finish a 2nd beer and go upstairs to take a leak. I pay the lady 20 baht who collects the toilet fee. She's wearing a clownish, red wig and she always pretends to not remember tha you've paid if you go back to take another leak, I go back downstairs and take a final stroll through and I see a girl that I wanted in January that I missed out on. I walk up to her and her name is Dao and her fee is 2500 baht. Dao is pretty with not much tits, but looks like a nice ass even in her fairly conservative attire. We walk out and grab a taxi home. However, imo, a much better option as long as you are right there is to cross to the other side of Soi 16, almost directly across from Foodland, to Pan's Bakery/All Day Eatery. That is a lovely little Western style food restaurant that is inexpensive and good. You get way more charm, pleasant surroundings, quality food/preparation, efficient and attentive service than you pay for here. Delicious split pea, tomato and other soup with some toasted French bread for less than 100 baht. Good salads and special chicken, pork ribs or sausage combos with mashed potatoes, greens and so on for less than 200 baht. Every meal includes a tiny basket of French bread with butter. And, hehe, there is self-serve free water for those who just want water. No charge for cold or room temperature water, for your Thai dates who think drinking cold water is bad for women. lol. Fine small cake/cookie and ice cream desserts that hit the spot for those into desserts without feeling like you really larded it on since they are small size.

I have not yet tried their pizza and I do not recommend their pork burgers because, as I quoted from your mention of it above, pork makes for a crappy burger. And as good as Pan's is, they are no exception here. The pork burgers are crappy. I could not finish one and they're not very big. Also, I tried their 350 baht beef steak dinner (the most expensive thing on their menu, as I recall) and it was just passible if you really must have a cheap steak. It is still quite a bit better than the cheap steak you'd get at Foodland, however. The pork steak is the much better choice at Pan's.

Actually, there are several interesting and worthwhile Western style eateries within a 10 minute walk down Soi 16 right behind the Exchange Tower.

I was just at that Foodland the other day and stopped in at Zeno Coffee (looks Thai owned). The breakfast I had at Zeno was average and the coffee is not worth going out of your way for.

I think they stop serving breakfast at 11:30 am, but still have an egg brunch item or two available for the rest of the day.

Made a quick run last night. Nana was hopping, a live band was wandering the streets playing for baht to support a Big Buddha in Buriram. Looks like its tourist season as there were distinctly more Farang around. I hit a few GoGos but only had more than one drink in one, I even bought two ladydrinks but since I was on a time schedule, I had my usual waitress just give them to my target who keeps wondering who I am (I go there for a quick drink once a week for a while).

The street talent was poor. The area is totally disgusting still.

Went into Magic Table and it was a pig farm. I wouldn't do any in there with someone elses putz. Don't let anyone tell you there is talent there, unless you go 24/7 and scope up a stray one. Sad, I used to love it.

Thermae was screaming crowded and loaded with Chinese. The girls were therefore hungry for business because as I am told Chinese mongers, look, take their time, and are cheap. They have no manners and are pushy. One of these days I'm going to clip one that bumps into me, all it will cost me is LeRoubechon for my Krysha. After circling a few times, talking to some Japanese dudes, and standing near the toilet entrance to cool off and make dates on Line (I have a nice one lined up for tonight), I grabbed a 20 year old skinny little thing right after she quoted a Shanghai Sam 4 K. I worked her to 1500ST and wham bam worked for me, she was happy for the cash for 5 minutes of work.

I am a bigot for "skinny". Big ass or big thighs is a huge turnoff for me, and I can't work out exactly why I am programmed this way. Little Italy on corner of Soi 23 is open all night (always liked their lamb chops) as is Love Scene Thai restaurant in Soi 23, also a fish and chips shop open late. At Corner bar (Corner Soi 23 and cowboy) sells superior burgers and other fast food till 2 am. Getting something very tasty is not a problem at all. Bradman Sports Pub has good western food up to 11 PM or so. That is just Soi 23 must be other Sois with good options. Further down soi 23 is a high class steak place (At Whisgars), many more sports pubs, Barcelona, Indocine, etc. A lot of choice, even Chokchai farm restaurant. In Soi Asoke below ground is large Japanese suchi and other stuff restaurant open very late. Forget the name now. Very busy. Just look around a bit. Puu Porchana is a good Thai seafood place in Soi 31 I think.

You say many Thai girls outside Thermae. I am a little sceptical of that but understand some could be too young (they would need to watch out for police). Almost 90% outside very close by were ladyboys when I last visited, unless I assume everything tall must be a ladyboy, no matter how pretty. LOL. I suppose it is possible I just failed to notice real girls but really not that many very close by.

Years ago Thermae was a charmed venue and rocked on after 2am when other bars closed, due to being owned by the police they said. This meant gogo girls that failed to make money could move there. Quite likely, as Foodland is more a place to eat very late when desperate and no other easy alternative near. Good veg food is important to me, and not swimming in a lake of mayo or any others sauces. LOL.

Good steaks definitely available in Soi 23 and good beef burgers at several places. I guess Soi 23 is very oriented towards Farangs. Full of Oily MPs that I never tried as well, and even late night cart bars are back. Must be my favourite Soi. LOL absolutely perfect location to stay so close to BTS and MRT. Only short motorcycle ride to the MPs on Soi 24 to 26. Maybe is slightly to hectic. Tending to stay on quiet Sois these days since I decided not to live in BKK any longer, just visit.

Every post I make, I can highlight the full text. And hit "Copy" to clipboard. After posting and see my post has been fucked by the auto corrector, including Thai script destroyed, I edit post and paste the entire post text back in over the top of the auto corrected stuff, and correct anything that really needed correcting myself manually.

Then save. The 2nd save does not get auto corrected except for messing with forbidden words. Unfortunately, edit your post multiple times, and Thai script and any other foreign characters like in the word " Naïve " will be fucked sooner rather than later.

LOL.[/QUOTE]Speaking of vegitarian food, you must know about and have tried the popular vegan restaurant on Ratchedaphisek Rd around the corner from Sukhumvit Rd, more or less across the street from the Exchange Tower and just past Duangporn Massage, Som's new BJ bar location. I have not tried it yet but it is a go to destination for my (mostly) vegitarian friends and seems to be packed whenever I pass by in the evening. The name is Vegan something, can't recall exactly.

Also, correction on my earlier post; Pan's stops serving their full breakfast items at 11am, not 11:30am. And I can now say their French omelet with bacon, sausage, avacado, greens, mushrooms, tomatoes (all on the side, not in the omelet) with buttered toast was delicious, perfectly prepared and, imo, a rare good deal at 179 baht all in. I left the 21 baht change as a tip since Service Charge is not included in the bill and the young Thai lady server seemed genuinely appreciative of it.
