A friend of mine likes to say that the expats of Pattaya always remind him of a prison population. I thought that was a bit rough -- plenty of decent Westerners live there -- but there are days on the beach road or at the gym or in some bar when I look around and think, yeah, he's got a point.

This is for sure, no matter our styles I really don't care much whatever works for you and makes others get it up.
But if anyone is in town the Pattaya Music Festival is March 19 - 21 and you can usually pick up some out of town girls and some freebies or such. I know quite a few office workers (under 26) who come down every year and that is their weekend to go crazy.
Interesting time to be in town. And yes of course I'll be around :D

Is it fuck. It's a downmarket tourist resort with thousands of prostitutes, where you go to cherry pick it's delights according to your personal desires and circumstances.
If you have mental health issues or you want to make money in this town, there are other forums that are far better equipped to deal with you. And good luck.

I even know a few Farangs who live off their "girlfriend"'s Farang money in Pattaya. Thanks to 2-weeks-millionaires and sponsors they're living a lazy life in a tropical beach resort. Not my cup of tea but I'd rather be one of them than one of those who western-union their cash looking forward to their next 2-weeks-trip...

You make some brilliant points however I am sure there are "educated Thais" but we are not going to meet them in beerbars, as sex tourists we will mainly meet the "bottom feeders" of Thai society.
I do agree that some guys need to "get a grip", we should never forget that these girls are prostitutes, nothing more, nothing less.

Diceman, you are making inaccurate generalizations from your own perhaps not so broad experience. What you say does apply to the world most visitors see, but not to Thais as a whole.
I also only go short time with prostitutes (though I find them to be mostly very nice people, I have no interest in further interactions), but in my professional life, dating, and friendships I know many very intelligent, informed, and well-educated middle and upper-middle class Thais. You are quite right that most Thais are very shallow minded - but no more so than the majority of Americans or Englishmen. I've lived here for years, have quite close friendships, never pay for anything with normal people (always 'American shares' or 'Dutch Treat' unless the Thai boss or institution pays). I even find that the majority of working class people undercharge me or at least never overcharge me for services - for example seamstresses, repairmen and the like always charge me the same or less than my Thai friends pay.
If a man chooses to splurge his limited funds on a WG and elevate her to almost royal status, why would that concern anyone else? It's his life; let him live it the way he chooses. Most of the males I see with these girls appear to be on their second, third or perhaps even final conjugal-type relationships and couldn’t care less about what the world thinks about them. If they can achieve happiness and contentment from their relationships with WGs, something they most likely did not achieve in their previous relationship(s) with those respectable middle or high class educated women from their homeland, I say more power to them. In the end we are all deficient in certain areas of our lives. Live and let live gentlemen!

Yes, you are correct however some guys need to be reminded that in the vast majority of cases they are simply seen as ATM's -------- if they had no money they would soon find their "girlfriend" disappear, sad but true.

Reminded by whom and how, people ranting on a sex board, how would they get the message? They probably already know this; you and I don't know their motivation for being in such relationships. To many on this board it’s all about money, to those men it may be as I said for their happiness or contentment. Also in your homeland, if you had no money would your average girlfriends stick around or would they disappear too?
