The term "third-world" is outdated. By those standards, countries like Panama and Ecuador (I use those two because I've been to them ...
... When I retire, I will go to a more simplistic country and live like a king there.
Hey I'm with you amigo. I guess we've all got a little 'thirld world' in us these days.
I've been all over Central and South America myself and I've witnessed a lot more misery down south than we've got in the US.
At least we've got some sort of a safety net in the US and a bit of hope and opportunity.
Just not like that for lots of people down south.
And I'm with ya brother, I'm keeping myself down south where at least if ya got a little bit of money you can live simple, happy and well.
Take care
If Colombia isn't 3rd World, why are good-looking 18-21 year-old-girls selling their bodies for $15 an hour to ugly middle-aged sex tourists? Just group the countries by hourly P4P prices and tier and sort them out that way.
PS: In East St Louis there exists the social services industry safety net option, so young mothers need not sell their bodies to the aforementioned middle-aged sex tourist unless it is an experience they truly crave and enjoy.
As pointed out... we shouldn't use the term "third world." It doesn't accurately describe things.
In Colombia it's described as "strata."
Again from the wiki (I love this thing).
* Stratum 1 : Lowest income.
* Stratum 2 : Low-Middle class.
* Stratum 3 : Middle class.
* Stratum 4 : Upper middle class.
* Stratum 5 : Upper class.
* Stratum 6 : Wealthy. Only the 6% of Colombians fit this category.
Poblado is considered Statum 6. It's among the most modern cities in the world.
In every country, there are good areas and bad areas.
It's just the disparity between the "haves" and "have nots" is so great. In the US. Not just East St Louis. If there was no welfare system, there would be a lot more $20 hookers! Just think about that next time you ***** about giving your taxes for welfare.
Great report! Thanks!
Nice to see people are actually enjoying Medellin.
Good post, definitely.
Best ever, well maybe if you've been a member for only 2 weeks
Just jivin' amigo.
Enjoy.
Though there are definitely modern and non third-world areas, overall I'd say Colombia is pretty third world in general.
Just ask the desperate guys you see eating garbage.
Ricker,
Thanks. I am a little bit envious of you. I had a 5 yr. Visa for Brazil. For 5 years I spent considerable time in both Sao Paulo and Rio. For my taste, both Cariocas and Paulistas are the greatest lover. Visa expiration along with Dollar's free fall prevented me from making further trips. You are in heaven, IMHO. May be someday, our path will cross.
Now for rest of the posters. The "Third World" reference in my report was never intended to insult anybody. In fact, my report is full of compliments about MDE and its people. I see garbage in New York City everyday of my life. It was a stark contrast when I visited MDE. I was really impressed. This particular board is under full moderation, meaning reports are not posted right away. By the time I wanted to remove the reference from my report, Black Page and others already quoted it. Guys, please don't make it anymore political than it is right now. Please let us all go back discussing Chicas-the main intention of this website.
I am including a picture of a lovely latina I met during this trip. I will run away with her in a heartbeat, only if I were 20 years younger.

Does anyone know her?
Does anyone know Angie. She has a page in romancelatina (lorenamde). Has anyone experienced her. I am making plans to hook up with her so, I just wanted to know if she is a good GFE. And how much does se usually charge. Any info would be appreciated.

I have to agree with you about the Brasileiras too.
I just dig their way!
Anyway, it's my birthday today, my Paulista girlfriend's on her way over, the dollar jumped up just a bit against the Real recently and I'm smiling.
Can it get any better? Hahahaha.
Great trip report de Medellin amigo, nice foto ya posted too!
We'll catch ya around someday. Maybe in the newly refurbished strip club in el Central, Sonorama, I think scheduled to re-open in a month or so, about when I return to Medellin.
Happy travels.

Bandy
I doubt she wishes u were 20 years younger, she probably prefers the age u are right now. So I say run away with the girl if u want and dont worry about ages.

She has been known to charge what I consider outrages prices. Her cousin is prettier and she is more of a gfe to me.

Hotel Botero Plaza
My wingman mentioned Hotel Botero Plaza as an alternative to the Castillo / CasaBlanca.
Do you all know if it is girl friendly? Do you recommend it?
Thanks

No disrepect but this sounds like one of the questions you hear from a newbie monger in the Del Rey in San Jose.
I have experience with both Angie Lorena and her prima/amiga Paola who is also on RL
.
You have to negotiate with them just like you do with any other chica.
They do not have a price tag stuck on their forehead with a list of services that they will provide. Personally I negotiated 200K w/ Angie but she hung around the apt for several hours and I got multiple pops and she was very gfe but you have to understand I was wearing Brut by Faberge!
I actually preferred Paola who I hooked up with this last Xmas. Ask either over for a drink and spend some time with them and see if there is any chemistry and than you can talk $.

You´re a classy cat!

A couple questions
Questions:
Is it true that nitespots will be closed next weekend for the election?
Also: Anyone have recommendations, mongering or otherwise, for zona cafetera (Periera, Armenia, Manizales). Particualary, how is the ride down there? I'll probably fly at least one way, but it the ride worthwhile to do one directions on a bus?
Thanks much.

DW
There have been posts here -- lots -- on the 3 Cafetera cities. As for recommendation on doing the trip overland (one leg at least): Do IT. Great scenery. A good part of the road on the southern end is a Toll road. can't imagine FARC infiltrating it, but don't know
