I stopped in Thermae a couple of nights ago and it was so crowded and hot in there I had to step outside. I saw girls sweating down there, gamely trying to smile and ignore the heat but I am sure several of them chose to go outside for cooler air too. There were many potential customers outside that night, same as me.
Sounds like Saturday night. It was brutal. Girls were going in and out.
Many times I have to go stand in the corner near the stairs to the Hong Nam, there is an AC vent that blows there. Once I am too hot and sweaty, I lose interest in the pooyang.
You will save a lot of money if you follow Crypton's advice about paying no more than 1000 baht, since no one will go with you. If you read this thread, the going rate is 2500 baht (maybe 2000 if she is not that attractive and / or desperate).
Oh wow! I stand corrected. I was citing my experiences from the 2000's. Did not realize the prices have gone up so much!! Basically doubled.

Exchange Rates
You made a very informative post but did not include where the best place to change foreign currency is. Which money changer is the best? From my own experience it may vary from time to time.
The best I have seen is either Vasu near Soi 7/1 or the top of the escalator to Asok BTS. Vasu insists on a copy of your PP. All others I have been to will accept your drivers license. The ones at the airport like everything at the airport is not fair and expensive.

I miss the old days when they had the street carts right outside Thermae. All the girls would eat Thai food there. That's where I picked up my first Thermae girl. Saw her inside and she smiled at me as she walked out with her friend. I thought I missed out. Kicked myself for 30 seconds before I decided to chase her. Glad I did. Found her ordering Thai food and she asked me to join her even offering to pay for my food. Remains my buddy to this day.
Yes! And it's so easy to fall for a woman who dotes on your every word, who fetches your drinks and rubs your back and really puts her heart and soul into making you happy. Next week she may be doing the same thing with someone else. Many people might say that means she's a bad person. Perhaps the truth is the opposite. Sisters of mercy, as Leonard Cohen called them. Whether such a person is a good choice for a long-term relationship may turn as much on your outlook as on hers.
This doting can pander to a guy's ego, if he is not experienced enough to know its likely somewhat bullshit. E. g. He had one wife all his life. We all know a girl can switch on the charm temporarily, and some guys fall in love via their dick of course. Never been raped so great in all their lives. After several years, you start to know the real girl just a little, but still character aspects well hidden.
My GF was not a the doting type although probably put on her good face when we first met. Later tried hard to get rid of me with various bad behaviour as she never intended it to be permanent. Did not really look after me good enough sexually for a few years too. Yet somehow I still liked her. Maybe because saw some aspects of the real girl. For first year, never had an argument with GF. That was bliss. Of course could not last forever.
I am classified as "jai dee" (good hearted) or "jai gwang" (broad hearted), but this is a negative trait. Means I cannot be trusted with other women. Too nice to too many! It is pretty much same as "jao chuu" a guy who philanders with multiple women.
Strangely Thai girls hook a young Thai boy, then get pregnant, have a baby, and he just moves on to the next girl still with no baby, often during the pregnancy. So young Thai girls seem to be equally stupid. Wreck their bodies and get left with baby to support, for what?
Any successful requires both parties to be making an effort the other half's life to be fun and improved. Sadly not many Thai girls subscribe to this. Accept me as I am! Selfish, unwilling to consider they might be at fault. Stubborn.
I have a AIS traveller SIM card from last year last used Feb. 5th 2018 is it still going to be good when I land if top up with min? Or will it be expired. ?any and all info would be appreciated, thanks.
It will most likely be expired. Unless maybe when you had something like 500 baht remaining balance when you left Thailand in February.
Get around: Use Google Maps and download maps before leaving home to save data charges.
Or buy a local sim card with a data plan at the airport on arrival. Usually much cheaper.
Other than that: good basics for the newbs!
You made a very informative post but did not include where the best place to change foreign currency is. Which money changer is the best? From my own experience it may vary from time to time.
I've had the best luck using the super rich on ratchamadri. If you set up a ride with nam taxi and mention stopping by this super rich she will allow payment to wait until you stop at super rich. 90% of the time this is the best rate. If your exchanging a large sum and using 100 dollar Bill's you can even request a slightly better rate. It don't seem like much difference but when exchanging 5 k usd it's a big multiplier.
P.S. Nam is a female taxi that is very courteous and safe. I've heard from some of nam not allowing them to do this. She always allows me to skip paying at airport. May be me repeated patronage. This allows a little more saving. Also a exchange rate site on internet that gives up to date exchange rates. I watch it pretty close and most of the time that super rich is the best.
Was the AC broken? Usually quite comfortable in Thermae. Neither hot nor cold.
My experience too. But that time it was relatively cool outside but stifling inside. Maybe they did not have it set low enough on the assumption that since it was not hot outside there was no need to make it very cold inside.

Patpong and Soi Thanya.
Patpong was buzzing last night. Kings Castle was full with Asians and had a very nice lineup. Most of the men were smoking. Lady drink was 200 baht and bar fine was 700. Very pretty girl asked for 3500 for short time. All the girls wearing flesh coloured tights on their legs. Super Star had a fair line up and I grabbed the most attractive one. She was an agency girl would not bar fine. Good live music at the outdoor bar on the corner but all seats were taken. The Strip was dismal with grade "see" girls.
I walked down Soi Thanya and was surprised. Literally, scores of girls sitting outside the Japanese bars. Over a hundred girls at least with a mama san or papa asking if you are interested. I sat down and chatted with one group. They wanted 1,000 bar fine and 2500 to 3500 for short time. It appeared to be very negotiable as there were no customers. Younger, maybe 23 to 26 dressed in street clothes. Nice to chat with but very little or no English spoken so you you need your Thai or google translator.

Taksin BTS Bars.
I can not find anything online about the small bar area near Taksin BTS. Are they still there and where are they?
The weather has started to turn cooler in the evenings (a little bit). Maybe some idiot thought the aircon was not needed since not enough drinks were being sold.

So at first I found this statement rather confusing "She always allows me to skip paying at airport". Had to guess what that was meaning. What do you pay for Nam's service?
