I was walking out the door of a mall with my friend and somebody was asking for a donation, he said Tom why didn't you give anything and I said I'm a sex tourist. I don't have the right to pretend I care.

If Karma's like you say we're all doomed for going to Colombia and trying to take advantage of poor defenseless colombianas.

Tar-heel will have a great time either way because he's doing the same thing everyone here has done and thats read ISG very carefully and weigh fact from fiction.

BlackHawk is coming across as a bit harsh, but he's essentially right. As far as the newbies go, why would you argue about the experience of somewhere you've never been to guys who know the place inside and out? I just got to shake my head sometimes. The experience will be yours once you get there. Make of it what you will, and maybe even take advise with a grain of salt, but anyone who's been there knows more than you do, even if they're idiots. Once you've been there then you can open your mouth.

As for how much a guy spends, well, who cares? No matter where I go there's always some ******* bragging about how much he spent, and those who brag about what cheap-asses they are and how they spent almost nothing. They wear either extreme like a badge of honor. It doesn't matter. Spend what you're comfortable with, and plan your excursions accordingly. As long as you have a realistic idea of what things cost then what you do or don't do is up to you. The value on the information is knowing that cost. The experienced guys once again prevail. Just don't let anyone tell you that you have to follow the same lifestyle as they do.

Now, as for me, I've been around quite a bit, and am going on a last minute trip to Cartagena, which I've never been to before. I know Medellin and Bogota, but not Cartagena, so while I don't need spanish lessons, etiquette lessons or help finding a place to stay I would love it if Black Hawk or one of you other guys could help out with that list mentioned earlier. I would be happy to reciprocate with any knowledge I have (sometimes considerable) relating to Peru, Costa Rica, Cuba, Thailand, Mexico etc.

And as for the guy who said non-spanish speaking guys can get by easily in Medellin, he's on crack. Unless you're in the Mansion or the Castillo your hopeless ass is going to have a hard time getting by there, unless you hang with others who do. Same goes for Bogota.

Be yourself, have your own experience, ask questions and learn, but be leery of the extreme / obnoxious guys who want to forcefully or aggressively tell you how to spend your time, money, etc.

I will tell you that a $1, 000 budget for two weeks in Cartagena and then Santa Marta is not how I would choose to spend a vacation now that I'm twice your age, but I do think it can be done by a 24-year old guy as long as you don't mind doing without some modern conveniences, eating on the cheap, etc. As to accomodations given your stated budget, IMO you'd be wise to share expenses with a wingman or stick with the hostels (backpacker type accomodations).

IMO you'll want to befriend other 20-somethings, be they from the States, Europe, Colombia or otherwise. You should be able to be part of a different scene than most of the 35 to 60 year old guys who frequent the Northern Coast of Colombia.

Since you've already shown that you are spending time reading about and researching Cartagena, learning some of the culture and speaking more Spanish, etc, the best advice I can give you is this: Yes, you are a 24 year old young man from the States who has many advantages in life, but you'd be best served in your travels and your exploits with Colombianas to eat a large dose of humble pie before your plane lands in CTG. You'll score with some chicas and have some fun the way you are now, but IMO your level of success and enjoyment will increase tenfold if you go down there with some humility. IMO arrogance will be your downfall if you take it to CTG with you.

I wish you safe fun in your travel to and within Colombia. Be genuine and have a good time being yourself doing what you like to do.

Seems like many times there will be guys asking questions here as they plan their trip, but then many of them never give anything back by posting about their trip.

As to cripa containing chemicals; I have been told that exact same thing by more than one Colombian, but each time it came from a Colombian who had never smoked cripa (they only smoked the brown or none at all). I've also been told by some more experienced Colombian tokers that the genesis for the belief that cripa has been laced with chemicals stems from those who aren't used to smoking weed that was grown with a purpose. I have been told that people in the USA heard the same accusation (laced with chemicals) in the 70's and early 80's as the popularity of domestically grown sinsimella began to reach the masses. Now you may be right and I obviously can't say for certain, but I just wanted to pass pass on what I've heard from some experienced tokers, LOL.

Granted I never tried or asked a girl to go home with me for free, them chicks just never came straight up to me and offered to go home for free like they did in Brazil.

I'm going to Colombia because I love latin culture, the people (women) , the music. As long as I come back in one piece thats all that matters. I'm going to have fun, regardless. Obviously I'm hoping to hook up with about 3-7 girls pro or non pro. But I can settle for getting one authentic colombian flag.

I'm thinking my best bet would be to def stay in a cheap backpackers accomidations during the week and get a decent room for the weekend. If I meet a grl that is DTF during the week we can just get a motel room. Def conserve my bread during the week and use the extra saved money to do it comfortably on the weekend.

I'd much rather be old, fat and ugly and not have to watch every nickel I spend, plus I'm guaranteed to get laid a hell of a lot more than you.

If you did your research you would know that if you use your credit card in the bars, restaurants and tiendas for a week you will get fucked big time and not in a good way.

All I did was come on the forum in a friendly manner simply asking for advice, not bragging about how I was going to kill the town with my charm and goodlooks. It wasnt till after some Ahole bitter posters attacked me that I had to point out the obvious differences between me and conventional sex mongers.

But its all good, I don't hold it against yall. And I'm still going to report back with a data sheet for people that could benefit from it.
