Now it's 14500 to 1 (almost 6 times better exchange rate). If you multiply that 100 k by 5 or 6, you will get the actual comparison. So it equates to about 500 or 600 k now. The going rate is about 1000 k now, so prices have about doubled since then. They have gone up more than that in Thailand.

Indonesia is cheaper than Thailand because of that exchange rate. 14,500 to 1 is a fantastic rate. When I first came to Thailand in 1999, the rate was 47 to 1 for the THB. It is now a worse rate than that, so not only have prices increased, but the rate have gotten worse. I find Thailand to be pretty expensive these days, but I still like it.

FWIW, I know we have debated this in PMs but for others, my prices were as at the start of the Asian crisis when the exchange rate had collapsed to ~10 k: 1. Unfortunately, 2500 forex rates were before my time😭.

My favourite bar was Sheba till it closed about 5+ years ago. A lot of fun staff, whether dancing or not. Before that I had liked Suzie Wong and Long Gun. After Sheba closed I was forced back to Suzie Wong until Crazy House took over my interest.

Strangely I sometimes went to Shark now in last 2 years, yet I had hated it, its music, and the way the dancers just shuffled a few years earlier. Girls had had horrible hair styles like Bacarrat. Shark at some point did a complete change and moderated to become a little bit closer to older style bars (unfortunately without nude girls), with better music for the old timers, and surgeries levels actually declined (somewhat).
