Its a little farther than 2 miles but the best thing that I have had so far in Tijuana is hands down Wash Mobile Tortas. If you tell the taxi to take you to the corner of Agua Caliente and Calle Jalisco its about 500 feet down Jalisco. Its a stand that has been there since the 60s. 2 carne asada tortas and a cup of horchata will run you 8 bucks but its well worth it. Its become one of my favorite sandwiches I have ever had.

Chiki Jai, NE side of Revu and 7th (?). Across from the Jai Alai fronton. Small joint. Good tapas-style food. Been there since the 1940s. Check out the mushrooms. Wine is OK. IIRC, dinner for two set me back around $40 a while back.
Fish taco stand, corner of Madero and 3rd. Best fish tacos you're gonna find anywhere. Shrimp, too. And, usually some grilled dorado. Lots of locals, no gringos. Closes at dusk.

There is a new place across from Adelita Bar that is getting good reports. Also a place on Revolucion West side just South of 2nd. It is below the Azetca Massage and a bit South. Same owner has a bar upstairs (formerly Buckets).
Great fish tacos and full menu with beer and all the waitresses are YUMMY!

Hotel Ticuan does have a Web site and will offer Internet specials; they reply quickly. Big recommendation: Bring a copy of your online reservation with you. They tried to charge me a higher rate at the desk until I showed them a copy of the online reservation.

Crossing back into the US at the San Ysidro station last night, I saw they've put up new signs and a new lane for pedestrians so there are now three. The left lane remains the SENTRI cardholder lane. The middle lane has signs marking it for WHTI compliant people only (passport/passport card/Mexicans with permiso/Laser visa/etc) and a new lane for people are aren't complaint. That line was closed (it was 3am so there was only 2 agents and about 4 people going through the line)
I asked the CBP agent at the desk what difference the new lines will mean and he said that on October 1 people w/o proper documents will have to wait in the special line and only ONE agent will be working on people so there will be delays. The other lanes will be open for people with proper passport/passport card. I would also think that the agent working that non-compliant line won't just let people who "look American" to pass, but to make sure they're who they say they are.
The last I read from an article int the U-T, 90+% of crossers have the right docs so this is an effort to get those 10% to get around to getting a passport or passport card. So it won't make getting through the line faster, unless you're like me and unlucky and end up picking the line that has a bunch of people who are crossing w/o any ID or notes from their mom.
For an American citizen, the WHTI has no law saying you won't be allowed back into the country without proper paperwork but it will get increasingly inconvenient and time consuming (I would suggest for people going to Tijuana without proper ID to cross in the middle of the night when there's no line).
I'm planning to drop off a friend at the airport tonight about 9ish. Is there any action around that area that i could partake in? I dont wanna drive too far out of my way.

i stopped over to tropical to see if big john's lucy was there (she wasn't). sat at the bar and ordered a screwdriver and the bartender asked me for $4.50, and my reply was wtf??? the guy next to me turned out to be retired military as well and intervened. he said the bartender used absolute vodka and that's why it cost so much. i told the dude next to me to translate the following to the bartender, "i did not ask for absolute vodka, i can see some of the finest ass in the world in hk for $3 screwdrivers, i will pay for the drink, making up my loss with his tip." as far as women, there were some pretty women sitting at the doorway just past the curtain, and a few others rep001tered throughout the club. the gal on the barstool on the other side of me had a real pretty face and smile, but i have this rule, i don't want to have sex with a woman that has a larger gut than mine; and she did.
i recently noticed a new sign in one of the alley bars; named cachanilla. stopped in there and headed for the bar. small place with about 5 women, mostly older and big. did a shot and moved across the street to la valentina. huge place and not a damn thing happening! didn't even have a drink; just walked a bit and left. the next place was la malquerida (newer place), same owner as hk. this place has potential. i sat at the bar between two pretty women and ordered up a drink. again, the $4.50 thing came up, but this time i said fuck that, pushed the little glass of vodka back to the bartender and told him $3.00; he looked confused. the bartender called over one of the english speaking servers and the server explained to me that the bartender was new, and the $3 vodka was available. the server also explained that there is a full blown lesbian show that started later, but i did not ask what time. this bar had a lot of women throughout the place; some hotties included. i spent more time than i should have talking to the beauty next to me and almost forgot about the mission.
last stop before going back to hk was the place next door to hk, i think is called bontana? either way, it is the only club between hk and the taco stand. there was a dancer on stage, so i took a spot there, and i was the only one sitting at the stage. i felt a pair of great hands massaging my shoulders and she was doing one hell of a job. i expected to turn around and see a large troll, but it turns out she was nice looking and her gut was smaller than mine; so let's have a drink. bad move because after her drink came, she stopped massaging and sat down. but it was not such a bad move after all, because she shifted her massaging hands to my crotch; bingo. i liked her for a good 15 minutes until she asked me for $20 and i asked for what? she started talking about her children, her parents, and other various problems. yep, back home to hk!

yes there is action in San Diego in the area called Midway, which is very close to the airport. But you DO NOT want to get busted in San Diego. The judges feel absolutely NO sympathy for you because they know you can just go to TJ. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!
Undercover cops are always out in San Diego and they will try to ruin you! Leave it alone and stick to TJ.

yes,thanks for loooking for lucy,as i said she very part time and trying to get out of business she is pretty attractive for 46 but most guys even older guys prefer young girls i respect their opinions personally i prefer bit older.big johnps.think she wants a relationship but this hardly ever works with women who have been in business no matter how genuine their intentions.

From my experience TJ is not the place to get spa service. Prices are not much different than what you can get in the states. I enjoy getting some work done when I travel but there is no benefit in doing so in TJ. Of course this is all IMHO.
If prices don't matter vivamex on revolucion and another one two blocks down from the arc towards the pedestrian bridge(left hand side) are decent choices.
Plaza rio would be another option.
I am a hairy guy too. I am finally at peace with it. All I do is trim using clippers. Look into something called an "oster" clipper machine and buy a few blades. It is the smoothest machine out there.
Be aware that laser hair removal is costly and your hair will probably grow back.
