You mention General Pershing, a real ****, even by American standards. On Armistice Day, 11-11-1918, he got his men to charge the German lines a few minutes early so they could have hot showers. The incredulous Germans waved them to wait but no. They needed their showers. German machine gunners showered them with lead. They were among the last fatalities of the Great War. Great General Pershing.
