Based on recommendations from the Board I tried to book Mike's Taxi to get me from BKK to Pattaya. I filled out their online booking and added all the details and contact info and heard nothing back. The morning I was leaving MNL I wrote again and begged for a response (I was arriving BKK in the evening). Crickets. Perhaps I booked too late and they were full, but in that business they really need to get back to the customer and let them know that.
There was no time to prebook anyone else so I figured I'd take Grab or Bolt. I've used Grab extensively in. The PI (never a problem) but was new to Bolt. I read that it's more popular in Thailand so when I saw a good price I booked it. (1046 baht). On his way to me the "driver" texted me that the tolls are additional, I said "okay, but I only have big bills". (I now believe it was a Manager texting me). Guy arrives and he knows my name and hotel sio my bags go in. The back and I am in. The car when he tells me I need to Cancel the ride in the App and pay cash. I didn't like that, but asked "hoe much?" he said 1400 baht. I showed him. The Bolt page that clearly said 1046 baht. So he called his manager who texted me that it is cash only and I need to cancel the ride. I texted back that that was unacceptable. After some back and forth in Thai the driver says "1200 baht, okay? I say that includes tolls?" he says yes, and realizing I don't want to get my bags out and start this all over I agree. (It's not a terrible price, but it's not the deal I made.). We take off at high speed, hen I get a message from Bolt that "The Driver has cancelled your ride because he couldn't locate you. " That's when I realize that I'm off the grid as far as Bolt is concerned. They have wiped my ride off their App like it never happened, yet I'm in the car. - he could take me anywhere. I start tracking on Google Maps and we are going the right way, but the driver is driving like a maniac and vaping which adds a film noir quality to my first view of nighttime Thailand. Not a pleasant start. Funny thing is when I was paying the guy at my hotel (I waited until I was out of the car in the light with the bellman there) I double checked with the driver that he had change for my second 1000 baht note. He took great offense. "Thai honest people. Thai no lie. " Hunh? You just scammed me.
Welcome to Thailand;.
Something similar happened to me when I arrived at Phuket Airport last year. The Bolt driver didn't want to pick me up in front of the terminal, but asked me to walk to a road that was about 300 meters from the airport. As soon as I was in the car, he wanted me to cancel the ride in the app. When I asked him why, he said that the Bolt drivers are not allowed to pick up people at the airport because there is already an 'official' taxi service there. (I saw this service. There was a long line of people in front of it, and it was about 200 - 300 Baht more expensive than Bolt IIRC, for a ride to Patong Beach.).
He also told me right away that the price would remain the same. He just wanted me to cancel the ride, so there would be no evidence of it in the app. That was his explanation anyway. It's possible that he didn't want to pay Bolt's share, and wanted to have more profit.
Remarkably enough, when I went back to the airport, about five days later, it was no problem at all to book a Bolt, and the driver dropped me off right in front of the terminal.
Then you should've read the actual law that led to the arrests (1996 Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act). If prostitution was legal in Thailand, prostitutes would have legal status like in Germany and the Netherlands.
Your arguments were already weak from the start, but are getting weaker as you're grasping for straws.
No, they would not have legal status like in the Netherlands. The point of the prevention and suppression act is to discourage it and to criminalize people profiting from it other than the prostitute herself.
How countries approach legality, criminalization, punishment and taxation is completely separate and has no bearing on other countries (see: Norway vs France vs Germany).
The plan to decriminalize prostitution in Thailand has not been passed. Which is why Africans in Phuket still get arrested for it in 2024.
That doesn't support your argument, it weakens it. If prostitution was illegal they would easily be able to apply that to more than Africans. The reason they get arrested can be anything from the 'public decency' part to working in the country illegally. Or did you forget you're not allowed to work in Thailand (or anywhere in the world) without a work permit?
If you don't like facts and real world examples of arrests, simply call the local Thai police and ask them if prostitution is legal.
Your mileage will vary. Plenty of local police will say it is legal.
The main point is the law. You haven't been able to point to a single law saying prostitution itself is legal. Replace the word 'prostitution' with 'murder' in any of the texts of the act and see how silly it sounds. You'd think murder itself is quite legal and accepted by itself! Guess why? Because prostitution is. I don't have to search hard at all to find a law stating an illegal act is illegal. It's only you guys who seem to have a problem with coming up with it.
So not only is there not a single law that says it is illegal, but in practice nobody gets persecuted for it either. Strange.

Next time; try Nams Drivers, very quick in answering and very reliable: 1200 one way.

Murder in Jomtien
I see a 77 year old Irish guy is being held for murdering a 40+ Thai (bar?) in his Jomtien hotel. He was arrested out taking a stroll as there was a smell of dead flesh in his room. Two points.
1. 77 is probably too old to rock.
2. 77 is definitely too old to bring strange women home. I remember reading years ago of a 70 year old who took a ladyboy home and the ladyboy kicked and battered him every which way.
There comes a time to hang up the spurs.
Maybe you need to read my initial post that quoted the OP's that started this conversation. It was not me. Kindly read and you will see.
Sorry, my comment was not directed at you one bit, I didn't read all the exchanges because to be honest it isn't relevant to me at least and it is silly that it was brought up but that is his right. My comments above his response I thought was funny and childest since I assume he started it now that he didn't like the responses throw in his last comment along with " he don't want to talk about it any longer " I just kind of shake my head we got grown men here write well etc. Big dicks, come here for one main reason then start talking whether it is legal or not! Funny!

Our minds and bodies deteriorate at different rates. One person at 70 will not be the same as another person at 70, or any other age. I have an aunt who is 104 and lives alone. I saw an article the other day of a guy who is 90 and still drives a car.

Esp since the blue pill.

Here it is Christmas Eve Day in the PI and I am happy to report a body count of 78 different girls in 2024. So, my age has not slowed me down. Well, maybe a little HA! Living in the PH with frequent inter-islands trips and also to TH, Jakarta and my annual DR trip helps keep me young at heart. Of course my travel pales in comparison to the legendary Mr. E.
My point is there is still a great future for all you young bucks like the highly sensitive "commander". Keep your vices in check, young fellas, and always remember sex is great for the prostrate so get it as often as you can! Furthermore, fucking a slim and stacked childless 19 year old for two days and nights does wonders for every single cell in your body!

I'm guessing you are still a young lad, so 70 sounds really old to you, but as long as you take care of your health, and especially with the help of the blue pill, there is no reason your bodily functions can't continue working just fine well into your 70's and 80's. There are countless examples of men fathering children in their 70's and 80's, check out some famous examples like Charlie Chaplin, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Mick Jagger. There's no time limit on when we should stop having fun.

I don't drink, don't smoke, don't take drugs, hike a lot, practice yoga at least 3 times per week, go to the gym at least twice a week. I stay at a family run guest house where it is not appropriate to bring guests to my room. But the massage parlors are a LOT of fun. Here is a report of the ram's arrest.
Of course, hookers like old guys, less work, more money.
I am in my 70's and have used viagra but don't like it for heart and other reasons. Fact is, performance lags with age. That is discounting centenarians who run marathons etc, I am pretty healthy for my age but my days of bonking half of South East Asia are over. Good luck to those who still can but maybe some of that is schoolboy boasting.

Active lifestyle
Speaking of keeping young and healthy by a variety of exercises, I'm looking for outrigger canoe club or team in the Pattaya area. In NZ it's called Waka Ama or Va'a.
Your arguments were already weak from the start
Thai law is not an argument. It's the law. You continue to think sex workers and bar girls in thailand have full legal rights and they don't.
In Germany and the Netherlands sex workers have legal rights and can go straight to the police if a bar doesn't pay up, those legal protections dont exist in Thailand.
She pointed out that owners of venues where sex is traded must themselves pay officials under the table, as prostitution remains illegal in Thailand.

Owners of so-called girly bars also fine the sex workers heavily if they fail to show up at work for a day or two. Sometimes, operators deduct money from the commission the women make on drinks bought for them by customers, hoping they will be too drunk to notice.

And since prostitution is illegal, venues providing sexual services are not registered and therefore not subject to regulations on hygiene and safety.
Barfine any girl in thailand and ask her what her legal protections are if the bar refuses to pay her. Nothing. She cant sue the bar or go to the cops because its illegal.
The fact of the matter is that many girls tell the older guys after doing the deed with these older guys that they are better in bed than many young guys.
From a generalized standpoint, based on many talks with WGs whether they're bar girls or freelancers, many WGs prefer a man (customer) with a small penis (so he doesn't "ruin" her vagina and its easier to suck), big wallet, and fast ejaculation. They're not having sex for pleasure and want their job to be as easy as possible.
Doesn't matter how old, young, fat, bald, short, tall, race, color, or ugly you are. Doesn't matter how "good" you are in bed or how much "game" you have.
I think some mongers get caught up in superficial things trying to impress or seduce sex workers. The point is as long as you have money, there will be pussy you can find regardless of your age.
1. Don't be a visibly evident foreigner interloping on legal Thai prostitutes' territory.
Thats the point, its not legal. It happened to Lao WGs as well and many Lao women look Thai.

I dont understand why mongers continue to think its legal. Its technically still illegal, but its simply rarely enforced so everyone can get their “tea money,” its really not rocket science.
