Medellin Reports

I got to Medellin for the first time a couple of days ago. Everything seems nice, but I can honestly say I haven't gone out much yet. Tomorrow I'll do my first exploration and such.

I have read much of the forum, but don't recall anyone mentioning any good real massage places. I mean, I love a great massage with extras, but would happily settle for a good deep tissue massage at a reasonable price.

It's always interesting coming to a new city and seeing how they do stuff. I had quite an exciting ride in from the airport. I've always wanted to know what it felt like to be in a rally race, and now I know. I didn't quite fear for my life, and at least the guy wasn't drinking while he was driving, like one very memorable 4am ride from Pattaya a few years back.

At least the weather seems quite pleasant. Reminds me a bit of San Jose, Costa Rica, but seems in quite a bit better condition.

There are two massage places available. I forgot which one was the better one though. No extras.

When I had a massage there the girl gave me her number for hotel visits. On another trip I happened to run into her in the supermarket but I never followed up.

I believe tung had one massage/release place listed on his list. It might be old by now though.

I'm troubled at a certain kind of monger that is trying to outbid "paisas" in cheapness. I've always had a disliking of paisas for trying to offer crums to the girls and asking them to do all sorts of stuff, like ass fucking, etc. But when "gringos" or any foreigner comes to Medellin and tries to "outbid" the paisas on the cheap side, that really, really irritates me. I consider that "exploitation" of the worst kind, at least paisas are doing it to their own women.

But these new breed of "cheap" mongers that are comming here to outbid the "paisas" on the cheap side, make my teeth grind. I don't consider them "mongers", I consider them exploiters. These girls are not american girls, don't take your frustration against american women out on them. They work for very cheap prices already, you don't need to offer them even less, that embarrasses me. I get the girls a lot of work here in La Mayorista and I still pay full price, because I'd be embarrassed to pay any less.

Guys, they are only $25US an hour, sometimes they will tell you less, like $20US an hour, or $13-$15US for half an hour, heyyyy, comprende? And please don't get rough or demanding with the girls and force them to do things they don't want or didn't agreed to. It's better to loose $20US than to put yourself or me in danger. I will ask, in the future, that if you want to pay $5US for a "cutie", that you stay in "Nutibarra" in El Centro. There you will find $5US hookers that will gladly accept your money, but please stay away from My Place. Sorry, if I offended anybody, but it had to be said.

Unfortunately, some exploit the poverty of the chicas to abuse and take advantage of them. Forget TCs and money exchanges! Use your debit card instead, in any ATM.

I use a Maestro (the debit card of Mastercard), which is accepted in ALL THE WORLD (except few lost holes). There are also other brands. Just bring to Colombia the same debit card you use in USA. There should be the Maestro logo on it, or an equivalent one.

You'll find an ATM at the MDE airport right in the arrival hall.

PS: I have a nice story about this ATM. Time ago, an European guy was taking money before me from this ATM. He was complaining that the ATM was not suitable for his needs, because apparently it was offering only USD and not COP.
He was leaving, but I stopped him and I explained him that:
- $ denote COP in Colombia, not USD as in USA
- 400. 000$ is way too much for an ATM, if you think that "$" stays for USD.
He thanked me very much.
