Went to Charoen Pharmacy today. It has not closed completely yet, but certain medicines are now out of stock, selves are quite depleted. They are trying to sell remaining stock. Probably will be closed in 2 weeks. Today could get Allopurinol, not so popular. They say the reason is the new licensing laws are too strict for them. They would not be allowed to sell cigarettes and alcohol any more. Maybe the rent is too high on a large shop like that, if sales are more restricted. Smaller shops can survive with less varied business. Anyway the main staff are quite old, perhaps retiring age. The guy did not say they would open else where, and had no alternate pharmacies to recommend.
After that was walking on Soi 4. Saw a stunning tall model, looked to be 170+ but I did not check the heals carefully. First reaction was a pretty ladyboy, but face was too delicate, so decided is was a real girl and very good looking. Dress was not really LB style, too sloppy. Some guys say these places are best bars in Nana, but for me they are well behind Billboard overall which has a larger percentage of natural looks, or at least not so freaky looking girls.

We really need to pay close attention now. I am talking about the face up side at least. Sure, if you hold them side by side you can tell the 100 baht notes are slightly smaller. And they are a different color, of course. But they are not a dramatically contrasting color. If the lighting is dark or more yellow than white it is very easy to mistake one for the other. I have actually pulled a new king 1000 baht note out my wallet, paired it with a loose new king 100 baht note from my pocket and handed them to a Starbuck's clerk in Nana Square to cover a 150 baht charge.
If the clerk had not been honest and held the notes up to point out what I had done, I would have accepted the small change, moved on and never would have known whatever became of it.
Add to the issue how perfectly lined up and stuck together so many of those new king notes are coming fresh from the printer and just now going into circulation and there are more ways to inadvertantly hand out an extra note or the wrong one here and there than there has been in a great while.

I do have to ask taxis to turn on a light before I pay. When young, that would not have been necessary. Maybe I should carry a very small strong white light LED torch. I have one slim flat one in my luggage, that can be attached to a key ring, just haven't got used to using it.

It's often imprudent (in a taxi) or impolite (for a street vendor) to use a 1000, so I don't use them often for the most common transactions where pulling out my wallet with 1000's would be inconvenient. When I do use them, then I'm sure I broke out the big one, and nobody can pull the "you only gave me a 100" trick.
