SIM cards can be bought pretty much anywhere. I use Claró when I am in Panamá. Similarly they can be recharged at any grocery or kiosko, and at many drugstores. It isn't anything you need to worry about.

Anybody with experience dealing with friendliness of the Sortis? Looks to be a Marriott hotel but I've had two chicas tell me its usually not a problem?
Sigh. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. You can dress them up, but you can't take them out. And so forth. Have I not posted ad nauseum about this stuff in PTY? Because I do, in fact, have a cara de gringo, I would say one of the following:
1) Deja de joderme.
2) Nac en la noche pero no fue anoche.
3) Me cago en vos y en la puta que te pari.
That last one might be a little extreme.
Respect your way of doing things and your opinion but, maybe the guy just doesn't want to sit there and argue over $3. 00. Or get out of one cab and go to another, or worry about cab fares and stress about it at all. Its a vacation. I completely respect the guy who wants to walk, take the bus or pull out the official taxi fare sheet but, some some vacationers are not that concerned over the cabbie getting an extra $2 or $3. Personally to me the $3 gringo tax is not a bother.
This is the remainder of my trip (at least from what I can remember) .
Day 2 - Friday.
Today started out awful. When I packed for this trip, I packed a cheap razor. I needed a shave and ended up slicing my neck many ways. I also sliced a nice gash around my nose. Oh well. So I was pretty hung over from the previous nights activities but ended up in a vertical position. I went to Manolo for breakfast around 11 am. Started to plan my day. I went over to the El Panama hotel. All I can say is WOW! You finally realize what a shit hole Venetto really is when you go into another hotel. This place is pretty nice and convenient to Venetto so I will probably stay there the next visit. I was in search of the blackjack game that someone mentioned. I eventually found it adjacent to El Panama in the Crown Casino. I ended up on the plus side so that evened out my losses from the previous night. Now it was around 4 pm. I went to the second level bar at Venetto and there were the same two "early girls" from the previous day so I just had a couple beers and went back to my room for a little while. Around 7 a chick that I met the previous night named Elizabeth texted me to join her downstairs for sushi. Elisabeth is a light blond girl I think from Panama. She was nice but not my type so I told her straight up that I wasnt going to fuck her but I did pay for dinner and drinks.
By now its around 8:30 and I ended up meeting a hot cuban that I took upstairs. Again $100/ hour. Great service. I went back downstairs to see what else was available and Ruby came over. Ruby is a Columbiana but she looks Filipina to me. Anyhow I had just spent an HR with the Cuban so I needed to re-charge and told Ruby Manana.
Day 3 - Saturday.
I went to the Panama canal and was bored to tears within one hour so I was back to base-camp by noon. I went to El Panama and had some really awesome sushi. Great staff and great food. I coordinated to meet Mr. Gauntman at Bar Peru 37. I have to say that this place is not what I expected. For some reason I expected all these slutty waitresses to come over and flirt and the best we had was one mediocre waitress who took our drink order. Needless to say, we didn't stay long. Mr. Gaunt and I went to Crown Casino. I had made plans to meet some guys that I met the previous night so I had to go at around 5 for dinner. Got back to Venetto around 8 and there was my little Ruby. Waiting just for me I took her up to the room and banged her. Went back down and nothing appealed to me so I called it an early night.
Final day. Day 4 - Sunday.
Today I wanted to venture over to the fish market area where Boca Toreno and El Mayor are. I first went into the fish market looking for breakfast but there werent any restaurants serving breakfast. They were all serving fish. DUH! Anyhow, I walked around the area and saw El Mayor but I just wasnt up for the potential excitement so I diod an about face and headed back to base-camp. Lunch at Manolo. Hooked up with my buddies again and we went to Habanos at around 8 pm. I have to say that IMHO the women at Venetto were just as hot as the women at Habanos. Again. Just my opinion and I am sure this stuff changes all the time. My buddies had hired a driver and a huge-ass black van so they hauled a few ladies from Habanos and we went to the Hard Rock. Meh. Then we went to club Asche. OK - Just OK. I had enough so I headed back to Venetto as I had a early flight to catch in the AM. Nothing really appealing there so I just had a couple more Grey Goose and Red Bulls.
That all I got! I will return to PTY soon. Just not sure when as I am headed over to Frankfurt in exactly 4 weeks for some fun there in the FKK clubs!
H1.
Good work, sounds like you made the trip a success and had a good time!

Overpay for cabs, overpay for pussy, tip 2 and 3 times the local rate. It's also why I don't share information on specific chicas any more. I guess we have to separate out the mongers from the tourists but it doesn't just mess things up for mongers. It messes things up for tourists and subsequent vacationers as well. Only people from the US do this shit, by the way. Even Canadians have more sense.
Is there a hotel showing the fight this weekend?
As As part of my afternoon constitutional, I stopped in Hotel Veneto today to see if it was really a run down dump with no AC. Well, kinda. The AC was certainly on but the lobby was pretty warm, probably 25-27 degrees. What they would call the first floor, but what is actually the second floor, where the casino is, was somewhat cooler, maybe 24 C. Then, in the interest of research for my fellow mongers, I walked to Hábanos and counted the steps. Crossing at the crfosswalk and not using the bridge, and walking very slowly to conserve energy, it took me 648 steps from the front door of the one to the front door of the other. And yes, there are sidewalks thee whole way.
Is there a hotel showing the fight this weekend?
Almost any place you could think about that sells alcohol will show the fight.
I'm new to the PTY board. But a longtime SXM poster. Love the post! Priceless! Damn Dickhead. I want you as my wingman! But if you jump the last step. Does that make it only 647? LOL!

There is a huge difference in paying a cab $1 or $2 extra to avoid a hassle and overpaying a Clock watching, Mechanical chica $100 or more. And yes, sometimes the Taxi's down there try and overcharge a ridiculous amount like $25 for a $5 ride. Then I do complain, but over a buck or two. Come on. Who has the time to take a moral stand over that. Shoot my time is worth more than that then to sit there and argue when I am on vacation.
Also, People from all over the world do it. Not just Amercians as you say. I sat a Habanos one night and partied with two Mexican tourists who way over payed the girls that night. I did not however get on my high horse and preach to them. Then the next night I hung out with a guy from Venezuela. Same thing he payed $300 for an hour session. Also, if you go to Habanos enough there is a Swiss guy, blonde hair. He is there all the time. He knows all the girls there and still over pays. So no its not just Americans.
Lastly taking a moral stand or protesting, or making a fuss over a few dollars is not going to make one bit of difference. There are millions of tourists arriving to Panama each year and probably only 200 or so actually read this forum. I guess if you really want to make a difference pass out a pamphlet to every tourist that arrives into Tocumen Airport.
I read your posting history and how you got ripped off for like $20 by a cabbie in the DR, and he called the cops, and the cops told you he had no leg to stand on, but you "threw $X dollars at him anyway" because you "didn't want to deal with it" or some shit. I also read how you laid your credit card on the bar at the Del Rey in Costa Rica and got ripped off for like $350 or thereabouts. So it is not just a couple of dollars we are talking about with you, now is it? But peace my brother and live like you want to live.

We agree. I am not into making a big deal on vacation over a few dollars.
I did make a big deal over the $350 in Costa Rica. And in the DR just threw the $10 because it meant nothing and I proved a point. He was originally trying to squeeze me for like $25 more than what the fare should have been.
So, yes when its a few bucks its not worth the hassle when, its a lot of bucks I will stand up for myself.
I realize that when I am drinking, Banging girls for money, partying like crazy and I am on vacation in another country there is going to be stuff that happens and an ocasional loss of $. The trick is not to ruin the trip by wasting time fighting over a few dollars and just factor in a little shrinkage from time to time.

Colombia, taxis are metered. El Salvador there is a set fare from zone to zone. Honduras, the cabs are supposed to post what each fare costs. The DR is by far the worst and the taxis are notorious for gringo tax by huge margins. So much so that it is insulting. Panama, most taxis the most they are going to Gringo Tax you for is a couple / few dollars. Again, each place is different which in turn causes each reaction to a problem to be different.
I guess I'm missing something too; what "point did you prove" by giving the taxista in the DR $10 when the cops agreed you were right? I am not on vacation so maybe that's the difference; a "few bucks" every fucking day would begin to add up. It would seem to me that if you have a second home in El Salvador, then you aren't on vacation when you go there. So do you behave differently there? And you say (I have not been there) that there is a "set fare from zone to zone" in El Salvador. That is exactly what they have in Panamá. I will say I have a strong preference for metered taxis, but mandatory zone fares such as exist in Panamá can accomplish the same thing. But only if you make the taxista adhere to them. I guess I don't see why anyone would pay more than twice as much the regulated zone fare any more than they would pay more than twice as much as the meter in Costa Rica or Colombia. Of course, in Colombia the taxistas give you back counterfeit money as change, switch the bill you give them for a counterfeit one, and all kinds of other bullshit they don't do in Costa Rica. Then the other thing I guess I'm missing is why making a taxista adhere to the lawful fares would "ruin the trip. " Seems to me that getting ripped off every time you turn around would be more likely to ruin a trip.
The other thing about panamanian taxistas I don't like? They drive like SHIT. They text while they drive too, except I don't allow them to do that: 'este no se hace mientras manejando.' They don't like hearing that, but if they ignore my request, I make them pull over and I give them a dollar and get out. It doesn't ruin my trip! Now, a car wreck caused by a texting driver (while tailgating, honking constantly, cutting off other drivers, etc.) could ruin a trip.
Now, to return to the subject of pussy, I knew Hábanos would empty out when the fight started so as it began to empty out, I selected a nice panameña and took her back to my hotel. My hotel is four blocks away. We walked. She had no problem with it. I have never had any exceptional panamanian pussy and this was no exception, but they are a lot less trouble than the colombianas, and they don't get as drunk either. Looks 7, performance 6, blow and go. I paid her $70 and made sure to give her two fives so she would not have a problem getting change from the taxista. I offered to go downstairs and make sure she got one with no problem, since the fight was still on, but she called one she knew and I did not have to bother.

I pay the $5 exit the car and smile.
When A Cabbie, actually asks me for the correct fare of $3, I am so shocked and grateful that I give him a twenty and tell him to keep the change.
