Did you mean to say that more westerners have more money, but less westerners have a lot of money?
It doesn't make any sense.
A lot of these China man, Korean, Japanese sex tourists are in the prime of their working lives. If they can find the money for a $130 short time I don't think I'd classify them as rich.
Many of the East Asian sex tourists don't exactly dress and carry themselves like covert multi-millionaires. Often sandals, cheap t-shirt, cheap man purse around their shoulder. Even the Japanese expats with the standard issue white business shirt, black slacks, just look like regular salary men to me.

My Two Cents.
I love the line, Lies damn lies and statistics.
Japanese and Koreans are prepared to spend more. What does it matter whether relatively they can afford it or not. Because of this and some other well accepted reasons in certain situations they are more popular with the ladies. That's the reality.
That said we westerners are not shut out. In some ways we have advantages and can be more liked. We have by and large a better sense of humor and are generally more considerate of the girl also having a good time.
To me it's about accepting what you cannot change going with the flow and making the best of the still numerous and diverse opportunities this country has to offer.
Why keep complaining and harping back to the good ole days. They are gone, they are confined to the dustbin of history.
Funny you say that. A "Chinaman" introduced me to a 500 Baht brothel. A Japanese guy showed me a club where university students do me for 1500. All the Farang I know do is hang out with old stretched out baby mommas at overpriced go go and beer bars where the prices are much higher.
I think a big part of it is that the Chinamen and Japanese are exposed to that Asian style of prostitution from the time they are young adults. For quite a number of Chinamen their first sexual experience will be in a brothel. It's very normal for the Chinaman to have sex with prostitutes behind the back of his wife. They have a lifetime of exposure to brothels.
In the Western world, prostitution is taboo among men, looked down upon as a last resort for men who can't get sex any other way.
The Chinamen will always be better at navigating the brothels in south-east Asia compared to the recently divorced Westerner who has been with the same woman since high school.

Short time fee?
I rarely, if ever, take a girl from a GoGo or club. However, tonight I found myself at Billboard in NEP enjoying a spectacular show of different gorgeous women dancing only feet from me. I was spoilt for choice and started to reconsider this option. At one point, around 12:30, this girl next door type started flirting with me from the stage and eventually drifted off out of my view. However, shortly thereafter she was in my lap having taking a roundabout way over to my bar stool.
I ordered her a drink (170 b) and we started light petting etc.while I started to think long and hard about doing one of my rare bar fines. She told me the bar fine is 700 but could not do long time because she had school. Apparently, the same short time situation was also in the cards for tomorrow though never quite understood why she mentioned the next day. When I asked her for the short time rate, she said it was 2000 to which I quickly agreed. She also said it was for two hours though I forgot to ask her how many pops were involved. For what it's worth, she said that she had working in Bangkok for two years. From Issan, of course.
Then the mamasan came over and I was ready to pay her the 700 BF when she said the girls short term rate was 3000. When I said 2000, she shook her head and walked off. I asked my new friend about the rate and once again she said 2000. I repeated this 2000 amount again to the mamasan when she came over but with the same shake of her head she repeated 3000. I thought my girl may have told me that I need to say I was going to pay 3000 (to the mamasan) but it was so loud in there I am not sure that I heard this correctly.
With that conversation undone my friend disappeared and reappeared on stage a few minutes later. I beckoned her over from the stage to clarify what was up and this time she said it was 3000 plus 700. By now, I was pretty irritated and declined and left as it was 1 am anyway.
So why does the mamasan care what the girl and I agreed too? I assume that my short time payment would be to the girl, not to the bar.
The girl mentioned going to her hotel but I told her my apartment was close by and preferred that option. I am thinking she does not stay in hotel but wanted to use a short term hotel in the complex, which I had no interest in utilizing but she did not objec to using my apartment either. Other than that, I found this whole payment scenario perplexing. Can someone shed light on this practice? For what’s its worth, there were a lot girls in there at 1am and not too many punters so figure a lot of girls were going home without a customer though they may have had one earlier.

One thing you need to know is Chinese mix business with entertainment in various ways so business people are used to spend a lot of money in KTVs, then sex after. If you look at the places that cater to Japanese expats in Bangkok, it is the same thing. The company pays for a portion of the expenses for their expats.
Some expenses are difficult to categorize because Chinese tend to build relationship with girls. Many fall in love. They visit each other, attending birthday parties, move in together and so on. There are many stories reported, some with good endings, some went terribly wrong. If talking about wealthy business men. They basically take it to another level that you don't read about here.

In any case, sorry it was a crummy night for you.

Tell her to fuck off. This ain't Angeles City. What you pay is between you and the girl. All you owe to the bar is what's on your bill: drinks and barfine.
By the way, I took two different girls out of Billboard bathtub area over the last 6 months. Never paid either of them more than 1500 Baht. Did them in the short time right next door.

Prostitution is legal in most of Europe, and brothels are common. Even in the American hell there are places where brothels and hookers are very common. Street near where I grew up in the states has had at least 3-4 brothels on it since I was born. They're still there now. Of course the sign says "massage" but you go in and you get sex.
Generally I agree with you though. Guys from parts of the West are beaten over the head with certain rhetoric that most never seem able to completely shake. A lot of the overcompensation you see in terms of tipping and going super long time comes out of this I think. Just my opinion.
But I prefer the Asian model. You might be surprised, but a lot of Asian prostitutes do too. That's why so many western guys complain about getting "scammed" by Thai and Filipina girls. Only one half of those "relationships" thinks it is a relationship. The other half knows all along that a service is being offered for cash.

Because of this and some other well accepted reasons in certain situations they are more popular with the ladies. That's the reality.
Well, as mentioned it's not necessarily true. I have Asian friends in Thailand who are either Thai themselves, or there full time or regularly on business. They usually go to much less expensive places than the go go bars. One Chinese pal introduced me to 500 Baht brothels that he loves. The guy is actually quite well off too. Japanese and Thai friends usually go to Kapoo clubs and spend maybe half of what a short time costs at Nana Plaza. Then they get their contact info and meet them outside of the clubs regularly for 500-1000 Baht.
I think the divide is really between tourists and expats. As usual, race has much less to do with that than superficial appearances and stereotypes may lead you to believe.

Rich East Asians don't slum it at Soi Cowboy. You won't see them walking anywhere either. When they do have to be in Thailand, it's car service from their air conditioned hotel to a karaoke, soapy with models inside, or private club. That is when they don't just have the women brought directly to their penthouse.
Again money is key here. Moreso than race. You won't see many rich white guys sweating through their Asahi Dry t-shirt on Sukhumvit Soi 7-1 in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon either.
The AUD has declined from 33 to 22 in about 5 years. I think 10 years ago the pound was around 80 and is going down past 40. But that can't be blamed on Thai prostitutes. That's your own home currency tanking. So you'd have to take it up with your political class back home, though surely the world economic situation has something to do with it.
If we're talking about prices in Thailand, we have to look at inflation in Thailand (it's less than one percent), or look at the Baht verses the global reserve currency (Baht hasn't really moved against the US dollar for 10 years).
When we look at this, we see that prices IN THAI BAHT should not have increased much if at all over the last decade. And largely, they haven't if you look at a general basket of goods. But the Thai prostitutes have upped their prices quite a lot over the same period. And the only reason seems to be: because they can.

Alcohol has gone up in price, but that is mainly due increased taxation. Residential rents have been quite stable ad nauseam, but commercial rents are really nuts. Restaurant prices are IMHO driven more by rent costs than ingredient or labor costs. Same is true with many businesses here.

Thailand is a military dictatorship going through its 20th coup with a Muslim insurgency and vast political problems with corruption, flooding and now killer air pollution. Generally these things are sufficient to sink a currency. A lower currency actually favours exporting countries like Thailand hence why Japan, China and the US engage in currency wars so they can sell more. The baht is being manipulated to favour certain interests in Thailand not that there is anything wrong with that.
It honestly doesn't bother me if the AUD is low because them economy has been humming here for 25 years without a recession. I'd rather have a job earning 150 k than a cheap sex holiday. If Thai hookers don't want to lower their prices either then as this high season has shown punters will forgo the gogos. Shit even smooci offers a better deal. Early call in to your hotel and then do drinking at reasonable prices instead of 1000 baht bar fines, over priced lady drinks and ST hotels. I saw a lot of quiet bars in December / January in BKK. Just because Thai hookers can raise their prices doesn't necessarily mean punters will pay.

There isn't much of a scene where I am, several spas that offer full service but if they get raided you're in big trouble.
Rent here is about the same as BKK, beer is A $ 5 (US $ 3. 5) for a pint in a decent place and food is probably a bit more expensive for nice food like a steak. Street food is about the same as in Thailand.
As has been pointed out by others, the poor in China are pretty poor and make up the majority and wages are low if you're unskilled. But the rich here are very rich and whilst they are a small percentage, it a big country.
