Colombians sure like long holidays. Every Monday since I've been here is a holiday. I guess it's good if you can get it.
I decided I'd go on the bus tour out of Parque Poblado. Cost is 15k. This afternoon tour only had 10 people or so. Only in spanish, but the guide offered to translate stuff as I needed.
It was raining about half the time, and they had some umbrellas if you needed them. I can honestly say it was interesting, but there was no one great thing that I saw. It is a good way to see the city.
The last stop, on top of a mountain, at Pueblito Paisa was a nice diversion. Most a tourist trap of course, but you got some nice views as you go up the mountain.
At the end of the tour, I asked the guide if he knew of a decent place for steak around the park. He mentioned the Alex Carne place across the street from Monterrey, and they were nice enough to drop me off.
The food was a good portion. I got a larger steak with sausage and fries for 14k+. About 20k with a drink and tip. The steak was pretty tough, but in the end, edible. I think I'll pay the extra 15k and go to San Carbon.
By the way, the Centro Commercial Monterrey is where I saw the movie for 5k. Not a bad place, though the snacks are hugely inflated. I wonder if anyone actually buys any.
Over the weekend, I went to Mayorista with Menteng. It's an interesting street, for sure. Some really hot chicas, but it's certainly not too customer orientated. I couldn't get one chica to even take her top off. And of course the knock came in 20 minutes or less. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm sure there are some good chicas there, but I got caught up in the eye candy, when I know they usually don't work out the best.
I have been coming to Medellin for the past couple of years and I make the trip every two months. I have never had any problems until this visit. I was walking back to apartment in Laureles from the place near Nutibarri and a block from Laureles park 2 I was robbed by two guys. The first guy was well dressed in what I call work casual,a nice shirt and nice pants.He said hello as I walked past and then turned around and asked me something so I stopped and at that time his partner was right on my back. I knew at that moment he wanted my money,but i stayed calm. He began his bullshit story about counterfeit money around and he said he was a cop and wanted to see my money. His partner was really close at that time so I handed him my money and he walked away as his partner blocked my path toward him so I turned around and walked away. I was more pissed at myself for letting my guard down because I have been here so many times with no problem. I wanted to post this because I know other mongers come here often and sometimes probably let there guard down even in good neighborhoods.

You got to be careful everywhere you go. What time of day was this? Isn't Nutibarri in Centro? You walked that far? You did the right thing. Give them what they want and go. Sehns, locals DO pay less. The chicas know they have no money and charge less to take what they can get. Once they see a gringo, you're already charged a "gringo rate". Do you know in stripclubs, locals don't even tip 1000 pesos for the girls on stage? Most just drink there and never even take them into a room.
Like what has been discussed before. Don't confuse what you pay in the US with what you pay in Colombia. Just because it means nothing to you doesn't mean you should try to inflate the rates just because you can afford to. If you feel they gave exceptional service. Tip them.

It was about 11:30 sunday morning.I was back from the guys art studio close to Eggos restaurant and walked back down Nutibarri ave and turned by Macdonalds and walked past Alicate and Mickey mouse. One block up around the corner back on Jardin was were it happened. I dont ever let my guard down now,especially even with people dressed well. I have been to Medellin about 15 times in the last two and a half years. I will keep returning because I do love the paisas as most of us do.

I do believe the original argument was dont try and pay less than what the locals pay or it makes you seem like a giant scumbag.
Negotiate below gringo rate/rip off rate, absolutely, but lowballing them less than what locals paying = scummy

What you want to pay is your business and if Frank doesn't like the way you operate than that is his choice if he perfers that you stay elsewhere.
I think the best way to deal with these girls is to set a price and then let them know that if the service is very good then a tip will be their reward.

Back to your post, when I do a trip report I try to convey info that others may use. Like taking the bus from the airport for 3, 500 Peso. I never said I would nickel dime a women I planned on being intimate with.
