General Info

Experience wise I traveled in Asia (different spots in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam.) a lot and know my way around there and know enough to not look too much like an fool there – you can't avoid it sometimes as it is part of the game. You know they ripped you of and they know you know but Dominican Republic experience none. I also do not speak any Spanish already read this is not a start but DR was one of the few things possible and I guess it's better than doing nothing.

Arrival and departure are both around 2 pm Travel dates are fixed arrival 30th April departure 6th May as it is between business meetings.

Budget decent hotel, apartment, villa 100-140 $ per night is OK – Don't fancy the 100+$ trip but probably can't change it. I prefer non resort over resort.

I'm thinking about spending the last night closer to the airport to ensure a comfy arrival without getting up too early.

If this is your first time in the DR, you have minimum Spanish, etc. I would have recommended BlackBeard's but they are in Costambar, just west of Puerto Plata.

Unfortunately, Costambar is about a $125 cab ride from STI.

Blackbeard sounds like a great place but I have been traveling for several months now and am looking for some quiet and relax time with the occasional girl overnight or during the day. And what I read about Blackbeard this is not their main focus.

A normal Massage is fine, yes you can get great combos in Asia but there also a the really good ones do a Handjob at the most.

You'll still have girls coming to try and talk you into something, just tell them when you want to be left alone.

With no Spanish, Sosua is your best bet. Plenty of decent hotels well within your price range. There's the semi-private Playa Sin Salida beach just down the street from Casa Cayena (which has a new name, Hotel Sosua Sunrise), if you want to relax with no intrusions, or the public beach if you don't mind a few people trying to sell you something. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and there are excursions available if you want to get out and do more.

For relaxing, Hotel Sosua Sunrise (Casa Cayena) or Hotel El Rancho are good options, short walk to both beaches, short walk to the nightlife, but far enough away to be quiet at night. Hotel Plaza Europa is another place quiet at night, but it's a bit farther from everything. Prices are good and rooms are nice.

There are a few massage places in Sosua, I think 600 pesos / hour, happy ending is extra. Massage is decent.

Or the quiet Costambar beach about 5 minutes walk away. Go to the Costambar beach during the week, and you may well be the only person on the beach.

I will be traveling to Casa de Campo for a bachelor party the last weekend of April. I have heard that it can be difficult to find fun in Casa de Campo. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on this situation? We are large group and will have transportation, so we are OK with going out around La Romana to find some fun. I am planning to take a trip to DR with 5 of my friends. I need help with digressions of villas / homes to rent in Sousa and a location in Sousa that has a great night life. We are looking to travel the last week in May. Any help / suggestions will do. I've head that BB is good but are there any other choices? It's last minute and this was handed to me as such because I mongered 30 days in Rio. As you may know planning for one vs a group are two completely different things. Anywhere you find in Sosua is, at most, a very short cab ride to all the action. It's not exactly a major city.
