I have contact with ex regular girlfriends from the last 35 years in Brazil. I find it interesting to know what happened with them during the years. Their fates varies greatly.
Some have families, kids or became lesbians. Some have died, gotten killed or committed suicide. Some had success and became judge, lawyers, engineers, police and others have became prostitutes, criminals or ended up in jail. Some married gringos and live abroad. Surprisingly many have became very religious, specially evangélicas.
Some still looks fantastic 25 years later and have taken care of their bodies. Others have almost doubled their weight and looks awful.

For the last 3 years every time I have gone to an ATM to get Reais with my US bank debit card I have been hammered in the exchange rate. They say they charge a 12% transaction fee.
The net effect is that you don't get the official rate but a shitty rate. When the rate was close to 6 to 1, I would get around 5 to 1.
I remember like 4-5 years ago I would go to and ATM and got the official exchange rate.
Can anybody can explain why is that?
