The "make a plan" bit is a really good idea because Bangkok is an easy place to get a "deer in the headlights" feeling with stimulus overload or the opposite -- getting too comfortable in one bar / soapy / whatever. Agree that there's no need to over prepare, but suggest you / anyone might make a list of must do or want-to-do venues or experiences. At least know "Gee, if it's Tuesday this must be Soi Cowboy. Day 10.
Wednesday morning I awake to a few messages from Ann. She was still up from the night before and hadn't slept a wink. Guess the insomnia from smoking all that Ice had set in. He checked my passport and began asking me a whole lot of questions, what I'm doing in Bkk, how long I've been there, where I'm living, what work I do etc. I knew I was in shit, but also knew how corrupt they are. So I just played along, kept my cool and spoke very politely. He said there use to be jail time for that offence, but recently they implemented 10 000 - 20 000 bht fines after pleading guilty at court. He said that I could appear in court the next day or the day after depending on how busy the court was, and I'd have to remain in custody all the while. At that point the only thing that crossed my mind was, as much as I was fucked, with 2 days in custody after popping a viagra pill, someone else was going to be fucked too.
As he was rambling on, the arresting officer next to him lit up a cigarette. So I butted in and asked him if he enjoyed smoking cigarettes, he replied that he didn't but couldn't give it up. So I asked him if I can get all my gear back, and he confirmed that it wouldn't be confiscated and he'll return it to me, but warned that I shouldn't carry it around and only use it in my apartment. I said that's great, and I was really pleased that he was going to help me, but I had one problem. So he asked what the problem was, and I said I don't have 10 000 bht, I only have 5000 bht, to which he started laughing. I proceeded to pull out my wallet, and he quickly stopped me, and asked me to follow him to one side. There away from prying eyes, I handed him 5000 thb, which he quickly grabbed and deposited into his pocket. I thanked him, grabbed my gear and got the fuck out of there. At the road I hailed down a motorbike taxi and headed to Thermae.
Get to the back of Thermae, whip out my vape device, drop the wattage back down to a sane 70 w and had a few pulls in the smoking section.
