Djibouti

I have been to Djibouti and I can say that its a shit hole. Its a largely muslim country. The streets are dirt. The airport is really small and luggage was brought in by horse and cart. I made the mistake of going there during the Haj and it was a total disaster. Everyone was returning from the Haj and luggage was strewn everywhere. Everyone was left to fend for themselves. Its the only way into the country, although I have heard of a new railroad like coming in from Addis. Accommodations were not a problem for me as I was staying with a friend of a friend.

The night life was almost nonexistent. All women were gone inside to their homes before dark. I did really look hard though. During the day, the women that were out were either working or shoping, all were accompanied, or closely watched by a male companion, who is a brother or husband. I suppose it is possible to find some there, but I have no idea how to find it. Maybe others have an other idea. I and others sure would like to hear about it. Downtown Djibouti is a 5 minute walk from end to end, so its not hard to see where the action is, or lack of action.

If your traveling to africa for pussy, its better to go to another East African country, like Ethiopia or Kenya. Just my 2 cents.

Hell I would not even go there for any reason again, because the whole country is really a dump. Just pass on it and go elsewhere.

Transferred from Somaliland, took all day. Alarm woke me up at 6:30 am arrived at 7 pm. Ethiopian airlines is surprisingly good compared to discount Asian airlines. However, their 'ham sandwich' (franken-sandwich) gave me such horrible heartburn that when I was transferring in Addis I really thought I was having a heart attack. I had to pop a Xanax and chill for 20 min.

Hotel neglected to pick me up (arranged) once I landed, was forced to fend for myself at airport. A quick google showed that over 2 k was unreasonable. First offer was 7 k to take me into town. (sigh). Hooked up with another foreigner thinking we could split the fare (1 k / 1 k) - but then they were asking 2. 5 k each. (bigger sigh). Lowered to 2 k each for same cab.

The foreigner wanted to pay it. So I ditched him and just took a seat. Eventually someone said 2 k okay, and I assume I was still paying premium-sucker-fare.

BTW. There was no money changer at the airport. Only ATMs. For some reason the ATM booths are all air-conditioned (can I just sleep here? I heard him asking if he could pay in USD or Euro. No idea what happened to him.

First architecturally interesting African town I've seen. Thanks France! Hotel near the center so took a walk around. About 8 pm. A significant number of fuck-tards on the street trying to scam you out whatever. 'long time my friend' etc. I just ignored them, some feigned outrage 'can't even say Hello, or 'can't even shake my hand!' - guessing people pass through here pretty quickly and thus the scam is on.

Went to L'Historil. The upscale restaurant / bar but turns out they don't serve beer for a long time now. Acted like I was asking for cocaine. Then went to Bar Menelik, the 'most happening' bar in town. Turned out to be a dive basement bar, the manager drunk. Dancing by himself on stage and making a scene, his girls behind the bar serving. Not sure what was up here. I guess you could take out or get numbers, the girls seemed up for it. But you're not getting top shelf. Most were from Ethiopia.

I found the beer prices thrillingly high - 1,200 franc St. George ($7) vs Addis (1. 30). Same goes for dinner, a simple shrimp fried rice sets you back the better part of $10.

I don't mind paying NYC beer prices. In NYC. But really? In a Djibouti dive?

Waitress at restaurant offered a massage later. They all ask how long you're staying and at which hotel. Feeling is that there is plenty around, but again. Not much that you would want to pay for. Walked around a bit after I got take-out (about 10 pm) - but became sick of the hassle. Guys following me, little girls following me, my long lost friends showing up etc. Not threatening in the least, just tiring.

We shall see for tomorrow. Would like to get a Djibouti girl.

Kempinski the only hotel with all modern amenities.

Very few local Somali-Afar girls on the game, those mainly catering to the local Elites, High ranking foreign officers staying in Djibouti.

Most pretty local girls do the short term marriage deal, usually with wealthy guys who know what they are doing. This leaves the Pro territory in contest between average Ethiopian girls and Below average looking Somali-Afar girls.

In general Very expensive even in African standards, must stay in the Kempenski if first time visitor coming in June-August, heat is a serious issue. If you are on a budget come January-December and look for cheaper guesthouses with an AC, if you can mingle with locals. Head to Arta.

Bee recently, I can tell here is all expensive due to embassies, NGOs, military bases activities. Lots of people with lots of someone else money to spend, so no issue for them. Beer is minimum 7 USD in a skanky bar, food as well min USD 10 per plate in a shittly place. Nice places, multiple by 3 to get the cost of food!

In downtown there are clubs such as Casanova or several others in Ethiopia Street, just look for the blinking light to decorate the entrance. Inside, loud music, dark lights and some girls who do no look that good. Did not even ask for prices of pussy, there was no quality and I already know would be out way too much to be worth.

The Vietnamese / Chinese restaurant at the corner with Ethiopia road is good and relatively cheap, so keep that in mind for food option, anything else is crazy pricy if not getting a kebaba at the corner in the street.

Not a place for normal mongers, only for government people loaded with tax payers money!

I've spent a week in Djibouti and found 2 places to go where girls can be brought back home: Hermes and Safari.

For the Hermes the club fine (to take the girl) is 5 k DJF before 10 pm and 10 k DJF after.

There some very beautiful ones.
