Be careful what you wish for...
I'm secretly hoping I'll miss my connecting flight, so Qatar Airways will have to provide a free night's accommodation, and I'll get the chance to check out Qube.
Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it!
I did indeed miss my connecting flight to Clark. Qatar Airways booked me on a flight to Manila instead (6 hour wait), followed by a bus to Clark. Another stranded passenger from Belgium & I didn't fancy that. We preferred to take the direct flight to Clark the next day. Qatar Airways didn't argue, prepared hotel & meal vouchers, and arranged transport to the hotel. Hallelujah!
Qatar Airways put us up at the Mercure Grand. After the buffet dinner, my wingman & I were ready to hit the town. While looking for the nearest ATM, we noticed some Chinese ladies heading into the building next-door. Figuring the girls were hookers, we followed their lead. The elevator led us to a club, where we were asked for 85 QAR to cover the membership & entrance fee. When I inquired whether the disco was part of the Mercure Grand, the answer was affirmative & we got in for free. Hallelujah!
After ordering overpriced (38 QAR) beers, my wingman hooked up with an older, yet still attractive Chinese lass. Her asking price of 1000 QAR shocked my wingman. The next time my wingman yelled in my ear, I was shell-shocked. The Mercure Grand was flaming red! The hotel & disco have separate entrances. Several ladies confirmed there was no way they would be allowed into the hotel.
Free accommodation. Free entrance to a club full of hoes. The night couldn't have been more perfect! But Qatar Airways sending us to a flaming red hotel screwed everything up. Damn! Damn! Damn!
The quality at Le Club was disappointing. Most of the PRC ladies were over the hill (30+) & many were overweight. There was only one girl I truly fancied. She was very busy!
When Le Club closed at 1 AM, we took a cab to the Radisson Blu to check out the infamous Qube. Membership was 50 QAR. The entrance fee was another 80 QAR, for a grand total of 130 QAR. Since Qube would be closing within the hour, my wingman & I passed.
Instead of going in, we hung out near the pathway leading up to Qube & started people watching. Judging from the Chinese babes walking out solo near closing time, the quality at Qube is much better than at Le Club. Even though we couldn't take a girl home, we still chatted & negotiated with the better looking specimens. Every girl confirmed the Mercure Grand was not girl-friendly, and proposed we spend the night at their place. The best deals we were able to negotiate at closing time (on a Tuesday night) were 700-800 QAR for the night. But we both ended up sleeping solo. :(
The next time I fly Qatar Airways to Clark, I'll make sure to book a proper stopover in Doha, so I'll be able to spend my remaining QAR on pussy. Since this simple sex tourist can't afford the 5 stars, can anyone recommend an economical, yet girl-friendly hotel in Doha?
