Update on Ambon. Last post on the Island was 270 in this thread.

Basically Ambon is not a place you want to go. Boring, dirty and to many Muslims who have appointed themselves to delete any fun for anyone else.

There are two types of bars. Hotel Bars (Swis Belhotel is nice) and Karaoke Bars. The old fun area Tanjung Batu Merah is gone.

The action is in the Karaoke Bars. Around 10 of them in the city. They have girls. Some have "more relaxed" rooms upstairs. You chose a girl and that is it.

There should be some bars / clubs, some with live music, where you can pick up some freelancers. There's bound to be some MPs there but I don't have any details. If there's a spa that's part of the "Delta" chain, it's probably HJ-only (the others are).

In mid-evening you are only 20-30 minutes by BlueBird taxi from Blok M, something to consider if you strike out in BSD.

Spent 2 days in Tegal last week socialising by day and hunting by night.

Firstly hotel Karlita has some very nice rooms in its new Hotel which was completed last year. Ask for the panorama room which has a sea view. Food nothing special but hotel does have a karaoke and discotheque onsite.

The Karaoke there at hotel Karlita had some stunning girls and I thought I was away for the night, not jaded like those Semarang Ciblek. Being the only customer in the place I though should be reasonably straightforward to secure the stunner that was smiling at me but not so. The Mamasan started at $1m ST and then ratcheted the price up to $2. 7M if I wanted to take her 100 meters to the hotel for the night. Go figure that one?

Now this girl was ever so sweet but not that sweet that I would be paying that much. So left madam to a table full of bored looking girls and what was still an empty premises. I think mamasan could possibly do with some training in commerce but what the hell this is how it always seems to go hunting ayam here. No rhyme or reason to the rules or the pricing As I found out the next night at Bahari Inn the other major hotel and Karaoke venue, deal was similar but girls not so pretty so not sure how things worked that anyone would pay that which obviously they wouldn't.

Anyway just walked back to hotel, asked guy at reception and very soon had 22yo bebek in room and quickly naked. 400K short time.

Night number two in Tegal, got dropped off at Bahari Inn to check out the scene. Maybe a little early for once again the place deserted. The millionth customer (not)

Went in, ordered a beer and got going with a basic conversation with manager and barman.

Manager greatly overestimates my Indonesian language skills and spends 25 minutes in this monologue on ceweks, bars, opening hours and how busy the place can get (although not in evidence at that point) , I swear I actually finished my big bottle of Anker before he drew breath. Make mental note to recommend this guy for listening skills course.

Manager confirms pricing system for some rather chunky karaoke girls is similar to Karlita disco. At which point your correspondent thinks it better to brave the mosquito's outside in search of his quest.

So sitting with security guards at gate having a chuckle about stuffing the fat one into my suitcase so he can try some highly paid work in a foreign land. (he asked) and waiting for taxi.

Taxi which was a regional shitty variety turns out to do a regular run each night out to Pelaman compleks to bring mamasan and employee chickens back to Tegal after closing of karaoke bar.

So we call by and pick mamasan up who is a battle hardened ex Bali girl and beat our way up the potholed national highway which joins Jakarta and Surabaya to Pelaman, halfway between Brebes and Tegal. One of the nice things about Java is that plenty of people = plenty of players, so cewek / bebek / ayam / ciblek never too far away.

Arrive and get VIP treatment which entails riding on the back of a motorcycle through this complex of a hundred or more karaoke bars / short time joints, although truth be told it was to stop me spying some very nice looking girls before I got to mamasans joint. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. There were some seriously nice looking girls in this place and lots and lots of them.

So get to Karaoke joint, Bar Diamond something something, drink beer, pick girl. 19yo can't remember her name but she was up to standard, pay money (too much) for all night back at Karlita, chat chat with girls, finish beer, wait for battle hardened mamasan to close joint down for night.

Back in taxi bumping back down national highway with buses by the hundreds flying past, (where do all these people go to?) , drop off mamasan and brood, call past warung to get some dinner for girl and back to hotel.

Girl left around 8AM, OK, nothing earth shattering but would definitely like to have another look at Pelaman. After SK in Semarang, this place was actually quite clean and ordered and the locals were warm enough.

Not sure how the rules work about getting ST in these places, some had signs up that said "No check in", which I was told meant no doing the girl onsite although would love it if anybody could tell me the rules about a place like this and how to get takeout.

I have to go back to Tegal for nothing if not to eat more of their delicious tempeh, so will make it a date with destiny to investigate Pelaman further.

Was in Solo for a few nights just before Ramadan. Becak drivers were willing to show me around at the fish bowls (of course). But clearly towards Ramadan most of them are closing (& apparently afraid of raids). Cost has risen to 500. 000 for two hours. Quality good.

Am planning a trip to Baturaden, was thinking of heading up there around 22 August.

for uni girls can only suggest you try taxi drivers. they all claim they have a supply.

i have a couple of taxi drivers numbers. pm me if you want them.

bars. i only visited hotel bars. no action besides drinking beer.

clubs. try score and corner but they only get into full swing late and i think only busy fri / sat nights.

karaoke. deluxe at penisinsula hotel has a good (fishbowl) selection but be prepared to pay. cheaper if you are hotel guest and some girls from karaoke may be willing to just go to the room. can just drink in bar also, had decent live music. swiss belhotel also has in house karaoke in basement / bar / live music where the selection is actually in the bar, though in separate selection. as always ask the mamasan if you have specific requirements.

one taxi driver took me to a place (bar?) called "kowloon", downtown / seafront, where was shown a couple of young working girls available for takeout.

otherwise, massage close to downtown is available (nice choice of therapists, but suspect hj only in house). pm me for name / location if required.
