Yep. I am actually thinking about subscribing very soon, as I plan to visit Europe. I would imagine this forum would be really useful especially when traveling abroad.

I'm the kind of guy who likes to help others. In fact I quite like the idea of helping others by sharing with whatever I have, and get rewarded in return, not with money though but more in the sense of receiving contacts of other top quality girls, or any European girls. So it would be like mutual benefits!

I offer a counter to a recent Red Kilt review of UB Massage in Springs Hotel. I have tried this place 3 - 4 times over the last 2 years or so and the results have been the same. Awful. On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest, I rate my collective experiences there as a 1 or 2. They score that for effort. The "massages" are unskilled and always rough, to the point where I have sometimes worried about getting injured. Seriously. And had to ask the girl to stop. The handjobs have been perfunctory at best.

I am not taking a shot at Red Kilt. He is an excellent contributor and reviewer on forums in several Asian countries. I just note that my experiences at the Springs have been uniformly bad. YMMV.

Have also been to Asia Massage and rate my experiences there only marginally higher than Springs Hotel.

Probably due to several factors, I think things have opened up a little in UB. It seems there are now many massage places where the girls offer services. One place I tried recently is Bolor Massage. It is across the street from White Horse Hotel and Strings nightclub. I found the rooms and facilities clean. Prices for bathing and massage are a little cheaper than UB Massage. About MNT 60,000 for a package. But here you discuss with the girl for extra services and a tip. The tip will be around MNT 30,000. Call me old fashioned, but it seems to me that when the girl gets the money directly, she has a higher motivation to provide a good service. I've had body-to-body massage, girl with no clothes on, followed by handjob. All very sensual. Other services were on offer. Again, the girls at this place have discretion to offer and what to offer. So YMMV.

Another place is Nuru Massage, or similar name, on Tokyo St, near the Chinggis Hotel.

There are other places. Talk discreetly to the receptionist. I find they will let you know if extra services are possible. I think more and more places are allowing girls to do this. I speak limited Mongolian, so I am not so far advanced of tourists.

Finally, I put in a small pitch to a massage place that is all massage, no extras offered. It is a Thai massage place, Sawasdee Massage. I think most guys will not be tempted at all to think about extras with the massage ladies here, who are older Thais. But these ladies do a good Thai massage. 2 hour package is about MNT 80,000. The place is in an old building just one building south of Seoul St. , the old building is on the same side of the road and just a few meters from Grand Khan Irish Pub and.

A side note to Dave see and his mates. Don't be too hung up about having a local guide. You'll likely do fine with massage by checking a few of the places mentioned more recently on this forum. I am not such an active night club guy. Getting a bit on in years for that. But I think as long as you stick to mainstream clubs in the center of town, you could find interested girls. Amateurs or semi-pros. Ask the door man whether foreigners are welcome. Most will be upfront with you. Mongolian guys can still be rough as guts, and there's more than a few louts who will cause trouble at the drop of a hat. The culture of Chinggis Khan has not yet been completely refined. Don't expect Mongolian guys to smile and wave like the guys in many SE Asian countries. But you'll be in a group of guys, so your safety increases. If I get a little time, I will try to post a review of clubs where I have had opportunities with ladies.

The population of UB stood only at around 6 700'000 when I first came here in early 2000's and now its almost reaching 1.5 million. It had strong ties with Russia in the past. Its an emerging city in North / Central Asia, and the demand for sex is on the increase too. So I really don't understand why aren't the Russian girls coming here to cater for these demands? Seems like a good idea to me, especially after the recent visa-free policy between the 2 countries.

I was also told that there are Russian girls in the some of the Chinese cities like Manzhouli and Harbin. Don't see why these places are more appealing either.

[/QUOTE]Good lengthy report Azha. No offence taken by your critique of UB Massage in Springs Hotel, but I must say you obviously set expectations pretty high if you have never had a reasonable massage in 3 - 4 visits.

I don't retreat from my positive review. I had a good massage from a woman who knew what she was doing. I asked for "hard" and got "hard massage". Probably 8/10.

I can only assume that you lucked out on your 3 visits and got untrained masseuses. I am very experienced in assessing massages too (I have a regular weekly one in my condo in Manila) and I was satisfied.

I guess we just disagree (albeit quite widely) on what constitutes "quality". Perhaps some additional reviews are needed from a 3rd or 4th party. I will be back in UB early in May anyway so I will try it again, but next time I will just have massage without the scrub. My skin is still growing back (smile).

Thank you to those of you who gave us some suggestions. Sounds like UB is not a great monger location, especially for 4 Americans who don't speak the local language. We tried contacting massage247. Mn for some massages and hopefully more in the room, but they don't respond. Sounds like the old joke of not being able to get laid despite having a fist full of $50's.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Love to meet a local for a drink or 3.

I will be returning to UB for 4 weeks soon and I was hoping to hit Strings now that the weather is starting (slowly) to warm up.

Maybe it's a minor renovation and it will be open for the tourist season?

Even Mint (considered the most popular nightclub) can be quite empty on a Friday night these days.

Went to Castle last Friday in the 3-4th Khoroolol a bit north of the Nomin shopping mall. Did pass by Strings, and it was again looked very closed. Didn't have to pay anything to enter Castle, but didn't see the 2 Russian gogo dancers either. Maybe I went there on a wrong day?

After researching for several weeks, I have no great plans for finding action in UB, especially on a Sunday night. No great clubs, bar scene, and even the advice on saunas / massage parlor seem indefinite. Might simply try the take out masseuse service I read is available, but I have no idea if even that will come through. HELP!

I dropped by the GK Pub tonight (Saturday).

First time I have been there later in the evening as I am usually there much earlier. Tonight I arrived at 9. 30 pm and the place was jumping.

Several tables with two women sitting with roaming eyes drinking and dining. Got a few smiles and suddenly a very cute minx came from behind me somewhere out of my line of sight and sat at my table and started chatting.

She was with a girlfriend and her guy and so she only stayed long enough to give me her number and a promise to call and meet me tomorrow. I will wait and see what transpires as they left soon after.

I never pursued any of the others as I needed to get back to my hotel at a reasonable hour because I have a breakfast meeting tomorrow for my work. The Pub closes at 11, with last orders at 10.30 which is a bit of a downer.
