I dropped into G-Point last night to talk to the manager. And the girl was there. So I talked to her. She maintained her innocence. She said if she had done it, why would she show up knowing I was still around. Good point, that, but I was not entirely convinced. I will say there is the slightest doubt at the moment: as in a tiny chance that the hotel housekeeping helped themselves to it or a tiny chance that I had a senior moment and put it someplace then forgot that I put it there. I have done that often enough back home. Though I did search around a bit, I didn't search every last nook and cranny of the room.

So for now, she was reported to the supervisor on duty who stated that the bar apparently cares about such things: though the girls are strictly FL'ers, they don't want known troublemakers inside. The supervisor told me they will warn her, another report from someone else and she will get turfed out. The girl knows I reported her. If she is really innocent, then she has nothing to worry about. But if she really did lift my pesos as I still suspect she did, then she's been put on notice.

The girl did tell me that she did not like La Cafe at all: too much meat market atmosphere whereas G-Point is more casual and not as much in your face. The way I see it, the girls are basically a sideline at G-Point. It's an expat hangout bar first and foremost. It's not a bad place to hang out if that's all you want to do. Always seems to be a pool game going on and there's live music after 10pm. Very little pressure from the girls: you can shoo them away and enjoy your food (they have a menu) and drinks in peace which I like.

I'm sure the word spread among all the girls there about the two of us: it will be interesting to see what kind of reception I get when I return to Manila in January. Not that I'm holding my breath: way too many other girls out there.

Everyone knows the meat market at La Cafe. When I'm not in the mood for that, I've gone cruising at a few other places.

Cafe 28 is on Mabini between Salas and Padre Fauria. Pool table, young bartenders, but very few people in there. I understand it's a newer place, just needs better publicity. Staff is friendly.

Amazonia on del Pilar between La Cafe and Padre Fauria St. Waitresses in uniforms, pool table in the back. FLs onsite, but didn't partake. They have ST rooms upstairs, 600pp/3 hours. The FL I talked to wanted 1500pp for ST; I wasn't interested in taking anyone at the time so I didn't bother to negotiate. That one was doable, but her friend trying to pitch her was not. YMMV.

Butterfly Bar on del Pilar between Amazonia and Padre Fauria St. Two pool tables in the back. German menu; guess it must be one of them running this place. Dang cute dancers who are fun to flirt with. There's a DJ spinning tunes for them to dance to. Fun watching that. Don't think they are available for takeout though. One in particular had a rather bubbly personality that belies the tough life she has. Low key vibe, very few customers. FLs walk in from the street to check out the customers, then leave if there's nothing going. OK by me. Some potential, but hard to say, I'm not a student of what makes a bar work or not.

A few other places on del Pilar in this area, but I didn't step into any of them.

On a personal note, I take my reputation and integrity very seriously. As a result of that, I try to respect other people's reputations equally seriously and try to make absolutely sure before I act that I'm without any doubt before I go around accusing other's. That's just me.

In that light, when you had just stated that there was even a hint of doubt about the situation, that perhaps someone else could've taken it or maybe you even misplaced it, is it prudent to go ahead and accuse another person regardless?

Maybe you're leaving and going back to wherever your home is, oblivious to the situation and probably don't care, but the other person is left in the aftermath of suspicion and doubt. Is it really worth it to damage someone else's reputation over what you stated as a "paltry" amount when you yourself have expressed doubt about who the real culprit was?

As I said, I don't mean to preach and I'm not trying to question your character, I'm questioning the decision.

Zachary, your points are well taken. She has mentioned supporting family in the province and my report to the supervisor could well impinge on that. But thievery should not be tolerated and I am still very sure she was the one as there are just too many details that I left out of my report that are off. They all need to know to just take their payment and leave without touching our stuff.

Not going to post her picture if I get it, that would be overkill IMO. I'm willing to give her a chance to show she's been scared straight on these matters. I will say the phone number turned out not to be fake after all and she has been texting me furiously denying all. Perhaps there will be another chapter in this saga, but I am leaving Manila today so that will likely have to wait awhile.

I'm not sure which bar it was on Roxas, but I think it probably was a japanese type by w/ one girl at a time coming out on stage. I had to go to the back to see the girls behind glass. Went to several and they were all the same. None had many girls on stage.

Went to LA Cafe around 10PM on Friday night. The place was packed but I was surprised by the quality of the girls, which I expected to be much lower. I did not stay long but spotted many cuties. It was just too crowded for me and being a cheap Charlie I didn't want to pay the 150 pesos to go upstairs (mostly because I did not intend to stay and I am not sure upstairs is any better than downstairs). Sorry, I don't know the names of the places we went to. I let the girls lead the way. The place with the live band had a guy on a keyboard and one on guitar and three girl singers. The lead singer was kinda plain looking and the other two were HOT. I would've loved to hang with the hot ones! I don't think it was a pick up bar. Several families, working people, etc. They also led the way to the other bars. All within blocks of LA Cafe. Next time I go, I'll pay more attention.

You did the right thing. If she didn't do it, the disagreement will soon be water under the bridge. If she did it, she's on notice to others who care. I suspect it's not just the management who care; some of the other women care, because FL is a business to them, and they know that a bad apple spreads to the reputation of all the others. I have had women at LA Cafe warn me about others there with drug, alcohol, and sticky finger problems. Some argue that this is just a ploy to polish my apple so I'll take them, but I'm talking about conversations with women sitting around BSing with me and a friend whom I've already committed to take out. And LA's management does run some troublemakers off. In the end, of course, it's harder to run herd on the crowd at LA than at G-Point. The point is, bar management and the other women do care.

Regarding keeping valuables in the room, I purchased a nifty package called a pacsafe. I got it for about $40 from REI stateside, but lots of places sell it. It's a heavy nylon bag with steel mesh woven in to prevent cutting through. A cable draws it shut and permits it to be locked to whatever you choose. I usually lock it to the plumbing under the bathroom sink. I keep my passport, credit cards, camera, and most of my cash in it, and then just carry smaller amounts with me. It's easy to move stuff in and out of it when you need something or when you want to secure goodies during horizontal recreation. When not in use it rolls up to about 8 inches in length and maybe 2-3 inches in diameter.
