If the one you happen to choose is one of someone getting shot, then you can live in your world of extremes. Because people get shot for bumping into someone at Thermae right? Was that in the recent news? Even in the land of irrational behavior, is this a regular or likely instance to you? If I were to point to an article of a German man getting stabbed waiting for the bus in Bangkok last September, I certainly wouldn't use that to label Bangkok as an unsafe area. I wish I had private messaging to continue this discussion with you.

On every board in every country there is the same old story about how things are not as good as the "old days". If you search back to the oldest posts they are still griping about how things are not as good as they used to be.

Life is way better now with a much greater range of options and technology. Yes bar girls cost more but now there are so many options out there now, way more than in the "old days". Who could imagine 30 or 40 years ago that you could fill up a mobile phone with contacts and basically just order like it is a menu. Some paid for some and some not.

And I view that as a negative. Before smart phones you had to do some of the ground work yourself, interact face to face with others, and you had fewer sources to rely upon. Bangkok was not nearly as user friendly and let's not get started on Cambodia and Indonesia. In addition there were far fewer people traveling in Asia and it was still slightly adventurous. It took effort, it was a bit of a gamble, and there were obstacles, but most were kind of fun to overcome. You could liken it to climbing Everest in the 40 years ago and doing it now. Few tried back then, now there is a line going up the mountain. The difficulty kept a lot of people away. Scenes change. Imagine being in Prague in the early 90s and having hot Czech gals for 10 USD! Or Brazil in the 80s and early 90s, even well into the 00s. One friend who left BKK in the mid 00s said to me, when it gets expensive and crowded you move on.
That being said there were very important things that were easier. Visas being one. As long as you stayed away from drugs and didn't hurt anyone it was relatively easy to stay as long as you wanted in most of SE Asia. Travel was a breeze. Flights never full. You were under far less scrutiny overall. That matrix no longer exists.
Now, like many other places on the planet bkk's become quite homogenized. Many Thais are happy that most of the street vendors are gone and there are copious malls like Singapore. I'm glad they are happy. The old Bkk is still there, but it's harder to find. Again, I'm thrilled that many of you still find the Bkk scene fun.

Some of the Chinese tourist gals are just smoking hot, put many of the local lasses to shame, however many of the local gals are excellent as well. Walking around central BKK is a treat for the eyes. It's just too bad those lookers are not in the P4 P market, or at least not in the farang market. After looking at these awesome chicks all day it is difficult to enter any P4 P venue as the compromise is just too great. One of my mates made an excellent observation about Jakarta. The gals you see on the street and in the malls are just no where near as good looking as what you see in the clubs. Sure wish it were that way here.

In this case, they probably are not the same. Your price even after negotiation is very low for what Asian think is a good looking girl. If you sit around near the door, you can observe the top girl don't stay inside Thermae very long after they come in. I read someone else made the same observation recently. That is why they don't need to negotiate and why people disagree with you.

I am just trying to apply some context as an observer here, not making a judgment of right or wrong.

For those the price, relatively speaking, is not more expensive. Thermae is still cheap to them. And that is one of the reasons why there are more tourists, because the tourists income have increased and they can afford to travel.

Compare the cost to independent worker in US, the girl's rate is about 1/4 of what a lawyer make, also much less than a good engineer's hourly rate. On top of that, the girls have very limited billable hours. I know this is not exactly the right comparison. I just use this to demonstrate how affordable it is to some.

I live in a area a two bedroom apartment rent is US $3000. If you own a house there and rent it out, you could rent a condo in Bangkok, pay for 1 Thermae girl every night, and problably still have some money left over. In a way, it costs almost nothing.

I found a pharmacy that sells Viagra (the real one), Kamagra (from India), a generic Viagra FDA-certified from Thailand (Tonafil) and Cialis, all at reasonable prices: it is located at 68/1 Silom Road near Sala Daeng BTS station. I recommend the place.

However, it seems difficult to find Stendra (avanafil). The advantage is that it's faster-acting, say 15 minutes, which in certain circumstances can be helpful. Does anybody know a pharmacy in Bangkok that sells Stendra without requiring a medical prescription?

So, this is a claim neither side can make with all good looking girls there or all good looking girls gone. Don't see a reason to approach an unattractive TG either so consider that as well. Also did mention a scale in terms of looks and paired with the pricing. Not sure why there's a disagreement with what happened, but that doesn't matter to me. What an Asian evaluates as a good looking girl isn't relevant because that is his review to give, and those disagreeing in this forum may not be Asian themselves. FWIW, I don't find Thai girls especially attractive in comparison to Asian girls of other ethnicities.

A middle class guy will definitely notice a much bigger bite to his wallet. But we all know that BKK itself has become really expensive, particularly compared to the rest of Thailand in the last decade or so. Real estate prices alone in lower Sukhumvit are banally insane. How many Thais can afford the prices of most things in Terminal 21? (yet the place is full day after day). And more tourists equals more demand, while supply has decreased (along that part of the price demand curve).

So last night, after Thermae got shut down, many people stayed outside and there was a mini Thermae on the sidewalk LOL, my companion told me a story later in my bed about a friend of hers who literally had 7 customers recently. On the same night. (that's a nice 21,000 baht haul in a single day).).

And it's "low season" LOL.

There's a big difference between those of us who describe what Thermae was like in the mid-80's compared to today and those guys who complain and belly-ache about today's prices, service etc or, as you put it, "who live in the past".

Many comments about previous experiences are purely descriptive and designed to show how much things have changed. Extrapolating that to mean we "don't have anything exciting going on in our lives at the moment" is a big stretch.

In my case it's laughable. I have been working for short assignments in 3 different countries in the past 2 months. I should actually be retired now but I prefer the excitement and stimulation of working and having experiences in other countries, and I have posted several times about what Bkk in general and Thermae in particular were like 30 years ago.

A healthy bit of nostalgia never hurt anyone. Sometimes it's helpful to know how much places have changed over the years as long as you accept that they will never return to the same status again.

That being said, very few people I know, if still working, have the disposible income they did 20 years ago. I know lots of guys who used to come to Thailand fkr a couple of months a years and take multiple gals per day. You'd have to be very well off to do that now.

If a girl comes out say Thu, Fri, Sat, is she still a freelancer? (interesting question).

I also think it's really fair to say that present day Thermae is nowhere NEAR the fun it was back in the "old days". Don't know about quality of the sexual experience, I've taken 2 girls out of Thermae and they were both good. (Would repeat with both. And do repeat with one who is in there semi regularly. The other is a true freelancer. But I also think I've been lucky. I'm not interested in over 90% of the girls in there) I think the old Thermae may have been more hit / miss sexually. Just consider the fact that in "the old days" you still had a considerable percentage of girls who would either not blow you, or if willing, really didn't know how to do it.

But just for the experience alone? Shit Thermae was FUN. It was INTERESTING (why did all the old time SE writers hang out there?) and it was open super late.

Old time Thermae has a spot along some of the other immortal names in global P4 P. Like Help in Rio, Hungry Duck in Moscow, Tanamur in Jakarta (and perhaps even the old Blok M).
