If you want to eat at high end restaurants, have your latte at Starbucks, wear branded clothing and use top spas its no cheaper than other capitals in developed countries.

If your standard is cheap accommodation, street food, clothes from Platinum Mall or Big see and a massage almost anywhere then it's relatively inexpensive.

As mentioned shifting exchange rates play a big part when making comparisons.

There are still guys there trying to negotiate for less than 1 K. The better girls are not interested at all, and won't even take 1 K. You get what you pay for to a certain extent. I found my best performing Soi 4 girl ever, recently. She recognises she can get repeat business for a good fee and a good time. Maybe she is smarter (and prettier) than most.

The better girls in Thermae may cost 3 K, not sure if that includes a Farang surcharge or not. Probably does. Some are clearly not worth it. There may be cheaper girls too. So Thermae is a waste of time and money for me (not like the old days when the girls performed great all night). I do better with gogo bar girls, if in the right venues and make a good choice. Can see them privately to cut out the BF and drinks costs. Is the bar itself entertaining enough to be worth a visit? Mostly I am going to find special girls. That is all. Not a great place to chat to a buddy.

MP shops can still offer good value for money if can find the girl that works for you. Prices there rose so little in over 10 years. Standard therefore declined. Girls have to do a lot of fucking to make good money.

Taxis are still so cheap that one can use them every day, and you can eat wisely healthier Thai market food very cheaply (without doing Maccas or KFC). I even know of Vegetarian food stands. You can also rent a room by the month cheaply. So its the sex that is getting expensive really. Clothes and shoes should still be priced okay.

Imported goods have ridiculous prices. The middle man agents make big money for doing nothing. King Power Duty Free is a rip off too. I don't buy from them any more.

Thais make so much less money than Farangs, for the lower classes. Its hard to understand how they can afford to buy their car and fill with petrol. Huge gap between the rich and poor here.

The Thai baht was even stronger when I first came here so it has merely recovered somewhat after bad economic times spread over 30 years and including world economy crises. When is the next one?

Would I spend $50 to $100 extra each day on a more fancy food and hotel or on sex? I would not waste it on the Hotel and food, personally. Priorities! Rebalance required caused by rising cost of mongering, and monger less frequently.

45 Baht to the dollar in 2001 was not likely to last.

I was here 1991. Girls were very cheap then despite the weaker exchange rate. The massive exchange rate jump may have been a factor in the rises going up so much from late 90's onwards, plus the bad economy. The Japanese and the tourists could simply afford to pay much more than they used to, with better exchange rates.

(2) Most Wall Street pundits and Market gurus had made this prediction. All the TV Channels reported this story: CNBC, Bloomberg etc. It was not just CNN.

For $100 I certainly got better girls than back in home country, for somewhat higher price, however we always thought the Thailand price should be about 20 to 25% of homeland price, but has not really stayed that way for mongering. Yes you always have the right to not buy if is not value for you. You could not get better in the USA, right? Certainly $100 would still be a bargain back in my homeland. The only reason I can see that you are unable to find beautiful and excellent performing ladies anymore is because you are unwilling to use the Social media and gogo bars to find talent. It does require more time and effort to find quality companions than in the past however they are still here. By limiting yourself to the spas you are limiting yourself to the quality available in the spas. Priorities? I don't plan to skimp on anything. For me food, hotel & sex are a package deal. I can only screw for so long.

When I first started visiting Thailand I loved the $30 short time for GFE sex plus great food and lodging options. Now with the price bumps, lack of GFE and changing service attitudes why pay the increased prices period?

Based on your posts I think we both share a fair number of years mongering. I have 47 years under my belt. No pun intended. We have both watched great sex markets go to shit. Looks like Thailand is heading downhill.

Better to change venues to visit that offer value.

Russia is on sale at 64 rubles to the dollar. Columbia offers decent value. Canada is on sale with the big drop in oil. When Bangkok starts pricing at FKK levels I would rather hit an FKK. I know its your area of expertise. Plus I like the white meat.

Doesn't make sense to chase Thailand of old which most likely will never come back.

I have Thailand, Germany & Columbia booked this year so far. Probably going to delete Thailand for somewhere else offering better value.
