Go back 10 years and use the much more broadly diversified S&P 500 Index as the measure for USA Stock market performance overall rather than the somewhat irrelevant DOW.

Since December 22, 2017 when the current administration's first major economic legislation was passed, the S&P has gained roughly 7.6% or about 4.35% on an annualized basis (factoring in partial years). Ok, let's be unrealistically generous and go back to the January 20, 2017 inauguration. The S&P has only gained about 11.25% on an annualized basis since then. Going all the way back to the November, 2016 election, although there is no historic precedence for why we should, we have seen a roughly 14% per year/annualized gain since then. Compared to most recent years prior to the election, those are not particularly impressive results at all.

Guys could walk away. So, it is all voluntary and the resulting price is a fair market value. I don't think anyone can argue with that.

A key peculiarity of the Thai P4 P market, however, is that every December / January there is a huge spike in demand which causes the P4 P Go Go price to rise approximately 250 baht every high season. Then for the rest of the year the girls try to hold to that "sticky" price. If current market conditions were fully operative in low season, I believe the price would be 2000 to 2500 baht as there is just not enough demand to sustain the 3000 baht price and as a consequence many Go Go girls do not get barfined every night or even every few nights. They should lower their price to get more barfines, but due to a national Thai character trait, the girls are very reluctant to do so. I kind of feel sorry for them. Ha Ha. Not really.

But this is one of the main reasons I like to visit Thailand in the low season. The girls are really "friendly" in low season since they are literally starving for customers. I could negotiate price, but I prefer to meet their price and in return I receive a grateful girl very willing to give me GFE and high-quality service. I get that a lot. Other punters can do it their way and negotiate a lower price. Up to them. I believe a lot of guys are getting it for less than 3000 baht, the asking price in low season. So again, it is a free market and no one holds a gun to anyone's head. Guys can do what they think is in their best interest and so can the girls.

Anyway, my point is the free market price is always fair by definition since it is created by supply and demand. And as I stated in the 1st paragraph, the phrase "is the market price worth it?" means nothing in economic terms, although it can mean everything in an individual's own decision making. But until aggregate demand drops off significantly and I mean significantly, I do not expect the price to go down. And whether price continues to rise at the 250 baht per year rate is anyone's guess, but I would not bet against annual, seasonal price rises. Maybe what we need is a futures market on Thai Pussy. 555.[/QUOTE]I would say that there is no such thing as a "free market" in any context and the BKK GoGo scene is quite far away from most aspects os what's deemed a "free market," especially with mamasans who are flash signs in front of dudes with the prices on them and with gals sticking to set prices no matter how low the customer base has become. Remember in Thailand when there are less customers for any business, the modus operandi is to raise prices, not lower them. Price is not always driven by supply and demand. It is a factor, but not always the primary factor. Cultural aspects such as "face" have a huge impact on pricing here in many industries. Pressure from other gals is huge. Get 2. 5 k one night and taking 2 k subsequently is a blow to you. Some gals will rather make nothing than take less than they think they are "worth. ".

Competition does not always drive price down nor increase the level of service in this country as it might in the West. You would think that when the large numbers of oilies opened after 2010 there would be lots of competition for customers and each shop would be striving to provide better service at the best price. Nope, service levels decreased. In groups many of the locals tend to work towards the lowest common denominator. Take Pin who used to work in Boss and now works Soi 4. She was castigated by not only the gals at Boss but the mamasan for providing service that was too good! I kid you not. She told me that was one of the main reasons she left.

Another example, traditional massage shops, they pretty much all stick to the same price in the Sukhumvit area, and again you would think if one were to drop their prices, they'd clean up. I agree with you that "worth" is for the most part subjective. Paying 150 USD up for a ST with an Isaan bar girl is certainly not "worth" it to me.
