Hi Crazy Dave,

cell phones just work fine...if they are TRIband...or Quadband for if you are European.

My (Dutch) simlock free motorola C651 (Triband) worked good when in the DR....the only thing i needed was to buy a new loader that handles 110 Volts...as my original Dutch loader is only suiteble with 230 Volts;-)
besides that i also could not use my Dutch plugs;-) Total costs between 150 and 200 DOP....;-)

If you wanna buy a DR cell phone (pree paid=con tarjeta) you allready have one as cheap as 1000 pesos!! These babies are basic (no camera or whatever fancy stuff) but are good for communicating with the chicas...;-) And thats vital...no?

For example, Ford, just outstanding contributions, as well as fOREST and many other members. I have read the entire SD going back a couple of years as well as the general info. section.

I have been to Brasil, Colombia, and Argentina many times as well as other places such panama, Costa RIca, Uruguay, Peru, and others in Europe as well. Ironically, I live in Florida, and have never been to the Dominican Republic, but after reading this forum, I have an impulse to just go for a long weekend to scope the place out for myself. I have a wonderful trip planned for Medellin, Colombia(been there a few times already) during mid Feb., but I also have a sudden urge to go to SD. Any suggestions as to when it would be best to go? For example, in two weeks(Jan.), or wait till first or second week in March? Are there any factors such as weather, low season/highseason, festivals( big crowds, and i do not like that), etc. that effect either dates to go?

I am hispanic who is very fluent in spanish and I plan on hitting on regular women. But the reality is that I will only be there for a long weekend, so I will be experimenting with the casas ( it usually takes a bit of time or a few dates to get a piece of ass from a reg. gal). You are a very, very smart monger as you have done your homework. This form is filled with great details and experiences. All mongers going to the DR should invest 1-2 hours and read about other monger's experiences and advice. I just made my first visit to the DR on a short business trip. I read up as much as I could on the forum to familiarize myself with the customs and locales. Thanks to all those that have reported and provided knowledge!

The had a sign saying $50 for the full night so for those of you looking for a cheaper option maybe Mystic a place to consider…and hell you’re right next door to Girl House and Sky House.

I could stay at the mystic but Ive found cheaper options that allow guests and have gotten ok reviews.
