Visit Family in the Province?
I have a question to the experienced mongers which is kinda similar to what Lloydd72 asked:
When I was living in Philippines many girls offered me to go with to their farms or their villages which are usually located 1-4 hours from the city, I always declined as I was in Davao and roaming around Mindanao is a big no-no for me, soon I will go and live in Cebu and when I get these offers in Cebu I might say yes, though before I say that yes which I might regret so I want to take your opinion guys regarding what the girls are expecting / aiming for with these offers?
And how about me if I went with a girl lets say to her farm so what type of experience / atmosphere should I expect?
If you're just looking to get laid, there are better, easier ways than going into the province. But if you're really into the girl, and / or you value the experience of seeing genuine Filipino life, the trip into the province is worth it.
I met a girl in Cebu and followed her to Samboan, a remote town on the other side of Cebu island. Once we got to Samboan, we still had to take a habal-habal which went up narrow goat trails way up into the mountains. I remember walking through corn fields with a spectacular view across the Taņon Strait to Negros. When we got to her house I sat in the brutal humidity, exhausted from the climb, sweating like a pig, and desperate for someone to offer me a glass of water. It never came. While I was near heatstroke, they were all cool as cucumbers, and totally oblivious to my agony.
I gave every kid--and the place was crawling with them--a five peso coin, which thrilled them. They babbled in Cebuano all day and listened to the Cebuano radio by kerosene lamps at night. Eventually the two of us shared a bed, which shocked me, because we were staying with her mom. I was too nervous to do anything other than kiss her. Plus there was a cute little kid sleeping on the floor beside us. At some point in the night while we were asleep, crammed into a tiny bamboo bed, she rolled off the bed in her sleep!
The next morning I got up and showered in the outhouse, scooping water out of a 50-gallon drum.
If you go into the province stock up on your coins and small change--the provincial economy runs on nickels and dimes. Be ready to rough it. Bring a bottle of liquor, and be prepared to buy food and drinks for the family--it's not only appreciated, it's fun.
A friend of mine, dead now, God rest his soul, told me of staying with his girlfriend out in the province and watching the bats at night swoop in to snatch mosquitoes off his arm hanging on the window ledge. It's memories like these that make it all worth it.
Manning up on USA Social Security
Fatherhood might not cost you anything out of pocket. I did some research lately for a Filipina with a child fathered by an American. Turns out there is a Social Security monthly benefit payments for the minor child and or children fathered by the retiree. Nothing is deducted from the retiree's benefits.
First the child's birth has to be reported to the Manila USA Embassy, DNA maybe required and an interview will be required. After that the child will be issued a USA passport and Social Security number to collect the benefits.
There is a 5 year USA residency requirements for the father prior to the child's birth. Otherwise support payments are paid from your benefits package.
As always consult legal counsel.
