Very tragic - undisclosed number of foreigners but I've been in that club and know its very popular with tourists. Hope no ISG members were involved.
I suspect its a classic New Year disaster, revellers being allowed to take firecrackers onto the premises and all exits locked except the main door.
Last night another fire - Soi Cowboy, Raw Hide.
Luckily nobody injured.

A little too ironic in the naming of the event as "Goodbye Santika" when it truly was the end of the place and of innocent lives. What a shame. When are people going to learn that you can NOT use pyrotechnics and fireworks INSIDE nightclubs. The same thing caused the deaths of 100 and injuries to over 200 in the US at a club in Rhode Island. Neither of these tragedies had to happen. God rest in peace they're souls.

Just chated to a Thai friend today about Santika, the NYE party doubled as a goodbye party after the land owner did not want to renew the lease on the club.
Been there once a couple of years ago, had a good time. Pitty it had to end this way.

I have been to Soprano as well, and also frequent 2 other places, i.e. Exotica in Thonglor and Mayfair in Sukhumvit Soi 1.
I think they have the same concept and cost structure as Pegasus, although Pegasus' looks more prestigious and hi-so, from their website.
You have to pay for a "membership", which basically costs anywhere from Baht 20,000 upwards, and you get something like 5 bottles of, say, Johnny Walker Swing, and maybe 40 "drinks" for the ladies.
Each time you go back, you would drink from your stock of bottles, and the girls seated with you would be deducted from your 40 "drinks" -- it works out to be about 40 minutes per drink. So, if the girl sits with you for 3 hours, then it's about 5 drinks deducted for the night -- if you bring guests, then same formula applies to the girls seated with them. Depending on the establishment, there could be an extra charge if you take a karaoke room, say, Baht 1,500 to Baht 3,500 depending on the room size.
There are no girls available for "takeouts" in Soprano, and you basically pay through your nose, and cultivate a relationship by going back frequently -- it's quite possible to score privately with the girl of your choice after 4-5 visits, but you will have to negotiate separately.
At Exotica, there are 2 types of girls available, takeouts and non-takeouts. You have to inform the mama-san in advance that you would like to have takeouts, and she will bring in a different parade of girls for you to choose from. It costs about Baht 6,000 for the takeouts, excluding the tip to the girl at the end of the night.
At Mayfair, there are also 2 types of girls, and the takeouts tend to be slightly older, i.e. anywhere from 23-25 years and above. The good thing about the place is that there are well-furnished bedrooms available in-house. It's much more affordable than Exotica, as it costs Baht 3,000 for ST and slightly more for LT. Mayfair is a bit past its prime, it's now mainly Japanese customers, as compared to Exotica, Soprano or Pegasus.

Had some days in Bangkok before Christmas and for the first time I met up with a mongering friend, never worked in team before. We booked a 2 bed room apartment at Omni Tower for 3 days, 4000 B a night. I arrived in the morning and had already done a visit to Tulip when he arrived and was quite happy. Just outside of Soi Cowboy we stopped at one of the night stands serving food and beer and my friend asked one of the “hostesses” there if she would join us for trip to Boss where he wanted to go. He had to pay a 500 B “barfine”. It turned out later to be the best 500 B investment he has ever done. The taxi couldn’t really find the place, I think it has changed name, but we ended up at a place called Bossy, God knows where. Not my usual scene, but a lot of candy there. We were back home in the morning hours. The girl had her red days so it was no boom boom for him that night.
Second day we met with a friend of him, her sister, cousin and a ladyboy friend of them for food and drinks. The sister was stunning. The cousin was a sweet little 21 year old which I got along with quite well. No signs of protective behavior and later some gentle stroking and discreet kisses as the drinks were consumed. The stunning sister had too many glasses of wine and complained about the jealous boyfriend monitoring every movement so I don’t think it will last. May be a possibility in the future. My friend told me there was a kind of drama while I was away. Later I asked her if that was her boyfriend, which she denied, but the mood was ruined anyway. Whoever this jealous Thai trying to mark territory was, I didn’t like the situation she had put me in. Bringing me to a place where a jealous local guy work isn’t exactly smart thing and put me in a risky situation. So I left shortly after and she decided to stay as expected. Well, nobody jumped at me while leaving and I got back to the hotel, empty handed. She sent me several messages later, but I didn’t want to go with that girl again.
Next day we took a look at the night marked in Patpong and took a break at a ground floor a-go-go in the other Patpong street. Quite a few lookers with slim and delicate bodies there. Prices quoted, BF600, ST 2000, LT 4000. The one we stopped at had the bad habit of sending the girl up for dancing even when she has just been bought a LD, so we left. I showed my friend Star of Light and the big boobed woman in the bar gave him a BJ in the toilet while having a beer. I just sat in the bar with mine (beer). It was hilarious when the woman came out and spat the load into the sink, too much she complained.

Spending one evening in such a club always cost me 4-5k without getting anything special in return! One night when I was there, I realized this and from then on I never went back.
