There are separate licenses for cars and motor bikes.

If your home license qualifies driving a car and a motor cycle you do not have go through the practical test to get either.

In my situation my license didn't cover a bike so I had to do the practical test, involves weaving in and out between barriers and driving on an elevated narrow straight stretch of pavement. Before that you sit in front of a pc screen and answer 50 questions on the rules of the road and need 45 correct answers to pass.

To get the car license even if no practical road test is needed there are three rudimentary tests set up inside the building.

Testing your breaking response.

Testing your visual ability to align moving objects.

Testing your peripheral vision to distinguish colors.

As far as I could see nobody ever fails these.

The whole process takes maybe 3 to 4 hours depending on the queue size.

Not much English spoken so better if you know a local who has the time to go with you.

The costs are minimal.

As with much of what goes here licensing requirements when driving are inconsistent. Before I got my local licenses I have been stopped more than once and told my home country license is insufficient without an international driving permit and that I needed to pay a "fine".

I always carry and show a copy of my passport, license and relevant car or bike documentation. I explain politely with a smile that a senior police officer good friend of mine in Thonglor police station told me I don't need an international driving permit and then drive on without any repercussions.

As to driving in Thailand by car or bike patience concentration and a relaxed confidence is essential to get there safely.

In Bangkok specifically you've got to be chilled especially on a bike more so during rush hours madness.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's fun but on a good day it can be a buzz weaving in and out getting to the front of the lineup and then opening up the throttle on a clear stretch ahead.

I've read a lot of negative comments on the oily massage parlours, but thought I'd share my experience in case it inspires others to keep looking, as I believe there are still a few diamonds in the rough left to be discovered in the Phrom Phong area. That's where I met my dream massage girl anyway. Age 29, with the tightest most amazing figure imaginable with a great ass and perfect 36 c boobs. She has had no baby, so no baby damage, and had excellent English having lived abroad and travelled extensively, and the best personality you could hope for. Ticked all the boxes for me. She stayed with me for the full 3 nights and 4 days providing an absolute GFE in every interpretation of the meaning, both in the room and out on the town. Money wasn't discussed at all although I gave her what I think was more than fair when I left. She entertainment me 24 hrs a day taking me around various food places, bars and clubs and was the horniest little thing imaginable with the best bedroom skills I have ever known, always begging for sex which we had at least 7 or 8 times a day. Although I paid for the majority of our expenses out and about she also bought rounds of drinks, even paid for a massage for us both. She introduced me to her friends, took me to her apartment and to the airport at the end of my stay. All in all a great find and was well worth my trip to the massage parlour. I understand this is not what everyone is looking for during their stay but it could not have turned out any better for me. Happy hunting.

I don't understand why you not need a IDP? Don't the rules apply to you? Never heard that someone can drive legally in Thailand without IDP and use their national driving license.

[/QUOTE]You always have to do these 3 test when you renew your thai driving license (both car and bike). And yes, people fails the first two test. I have renewed my thai driving license thrice in Pattaya and I always saw someone who failed a test.

Are you guys ever scared being caught on camera by people who post videos on youtube, I. E. , King Epic, Thailand Red, AZIATKA, and etc? Some of these guys post people negotiating with girls or post videos of girls with their clients walking down the street. How do the pro women feel about these videos released on youtube? How are these guys able to get away with it? I don't think they can hide their camera that much.

The problem is that I travel and park the car for the time I travel. If I rent short term the price goes up on the rental.

RL.[/QUOTE]To drive or rent a car in Thailand, many car rental companies require a full driver's license with a photograph and be held for at least 2 years with no major endorsements.

Foreigners on short-term visit may rent a car and drive with a valid foreign driver's license in Thailand.

If your domestic driver's license is not in English, one of the documents below is required together with your original driver's license:

- an International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driver's License (IDL).

- an official translation in English or Thai.

Drivers holding a valid driver's license of the 10 ASEAN member countries can use their national driver's license in the nine other countries without the need to obtain an IDP. These countries are Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

UK drivers with the new-style photo card license will need both the paper counterpart and photo card. UK license holders who have a paper license only will also need an official photo for identification.

Age Requirement.

The minimum age generally to rent a vehicle in Thailand is 21 years old. If you're 21-25, you are likely to have to pay a young driver fee. If you're 65 or older, you may have to pay a senior driver fee. But the age restrictions may vary by different car categories and different car hire companies.

Guess sometimes you click with someone, sometimes you don't, and mileage will always vary I'm sure. I love a good massage so that always gets me in a good mood to start with. I always treat everyone with respect and kindness so I'm sure that helped put her at ease. I learned that she could come and go as she pleased with no financial penalty other than lost earnings when she didn't work. I'm not sure if all massage places give the girls this freedom but it worked in my favour for sure as she didn't need to hurry back to work.

For the car licence no mention of an IDP and that seems to be borne out by other members experience.

As to failing the tests, I was around that room for about 45 minutes, Some failed a test first time, some even a second time but all continued repeating with the help of the attendant until eventually passing. Didn't see a single person turned away.

Different for the actual driving tests. I didn't need to do one for the car licence but did for the bike licence. There one foot on the ground and you're out and need new appointment to try again.

As to needing an IDP if you are pulled over. True it may be required but has qualifications depending on long you have been in the country etc. I've paid fines for speeding, crossing white lines, no helmet, not carrying my passport or driving licence but have never paid a fine for not having an IDP once I showed all docs re car, bike along with passport and home driving licence. Maybe just lucky. As an aside I have come to the conclusion the BIB are really not interested in a protracted prolonged hassle on a marginal issue such as having an IDP. Lots of easier opportunities to get your tea money quota for the shift.

In all cases, your experience depends on the girl, and not on the premises.

Admittedly, certain types of venues have a very low success rate, in my case the Thermae having rock bottom success rate for me. So the big thing about any venue, is your ability to choose the right girl that is going to be fun for your style and having suitable looks, and suitable skills.

Choosing at an oily is tougher, especially if girls are over dressed to hide the body like at Addict as example. Also no chat to find out how much fun she might be. Also tough, because many oily have few girls with acceptable looks for me. However I would never give up. There will be some exceptional girls. I never right off a shop just because one girl was a poor experience too. Just write off the girl.

If you are a Farang like me, but visit a shop catering for Japanese, you will find the line up willing to do Farangs is very limited. That was my recent experience at Dozo. I did not want any of the 3 remaining girls of a total line up of maybe 12. I wanted the Jap / Asian only girls unfortunately. The plainer girls are less fussy. I am more fussy.

I recently decided not to do a particular bargirl any more. Certain things not working well. Does not mean I won't try another girl from same place.

A fabulous girl could be from an Oily, Soapy, bar, street walker, disco, etc. Just have to find them. I have a regular now, great in the room, and extra pretty and slim, originally met at an Oily MP. I knew I wanted her from very first second sitting outside the shop in bright sunshine as I was passing by. Many of my regular Oily girls over the years, were actually first seen outside in daylight.
