I respect your choices and decisions, and also a little envious
I thought that giving myself about 2 months on the ground, I'll come out owning a piece of Colombian paradise / real estate. I'm almost there! Haha.
No reason to be deterred by the recent goings on since you are in it for the long run. Having met you, I know you got this.
Side note: I returned from Philadelphia yesterday, when they lifted their mask mandate. Their vaccination rate is high and the new case rate is the lowest since the crisis peaked. There is a lot of solid evidence that the vaccines are working. There are numbnuts who will tell you the Covid vaccines don't work. There are also folks in the Flat Earth Society. As always, consider the source.
I don't have any international flights booked at the moment but United still E-mailed me and asked me to upload my vaccination documentation, which I did. I also see that as a continuing trend across all airlines and a future requirement for international travel.
Again, good job Ricer!
Depends on the card you have and which ATM machine you use
What are the ATM limits?
The lowest I have seen is 400.000 COP daily limit. The highest someone else can confirm because I have not tried it yet but I think it is 900.000 COP with 3 withdrawals allowed per day for a total of 2.7 million COP.
The point is, to get the best deal you have to look around at the different banks and their limits, exchange rates and service fees. Oh, and you can and should refuse the exchange rate offered at the ATM, that is simply an extra service fee being charged by that bank. 90% of the time your ATM withdrawal will continue if you refuse their exchange rate, although I have been to a couple of ATM's in Medellin where refusing would kick you out and end the transaction.
I used to not pay any attention to fees and then Villainy showed me the amount of money I was wasting per month was equal to over two free pepago encounters or about 300 mil COP. Once he broke it down into terms to which I could relate, I changed my habits, jajajajaja. Even timing your withdrawals when the exchange rate is more favorable adds up. Good luck.
