Pedestrians Are Road Kill In Medellin
Will touch down in Medellin next week and have been debating taking taxis or renting a car. I'm staying at Haven and just found out that they do not have parking but there is public parking a block away. I plan on doing excursions and actually exploring the area vs just mongering so I figured it might be more cost effective for me to drive. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Some guys have no problem driving in Medellin, but for me personally, I would be to stressed out by it.
Probably the biggest difference between driving in Medellin versus in a larger City in the USA, is that pedestrians do not have the right of way. This means drivers don't stop for pedestrians 95% of the time, in essence meaning they are "road kill", so I could see getting rear ended easily if I was driving because I would be stopping for pedestrians.
And as far as being cost effective, I don't think so. Taxi's and public transportation are very cheap, so why bother with a car and dealing with all the hills, one way streets, endless red lights, rainstorms, and congested roads.
That's my take on driving here, although others have no problem doing it.
Scooter in the city. Motorcycle on the open road a dream vacay. Ok a car is safer.
Whether or not it's safe to drive depends on you. Thursday I drove from Bogota to Medellin. I don't recommend that drive for most people, although I mostly enjoyed it.
However, if driving stressed you out, probably better to stick with taxis.
Another option you might consider is renting a scooter or motorcycle. Medellin Sports Rentals (formerly Medellin Scooter Rentals) can help you out. Nice people.
You need to stop encouraging me. A hot Showaround tour guide had suggested she would take me on her moped to a waterfall 1 hour outside the city. She was too good looking for me to trust her driving. So I went by that rental shop on my last trip. Ran out of time. If just to get around safely with little chance of being robbed by any other motorcycle gang peeps. And with out the taxi's "unable to find" the addresses with their (we got no GPS) BS. I will probably do it. I may also fly to Pereira, rent a car and drive to Medellin. Fuck the traffic. And the girls! Spend a couple days on the road and enjoy. TallMan? Don't be a wuss.
Not to dissuade you even further, but. Jajaja
No, HIV isn't really the concern, however putting my teenie weenie in the back door, and upon removing it and discovering some poop on my Johnson, well that concerns me.
Funny story, I go to a brothel in Moscow Nov 2018, they bring out a line up, I pick the hottest of the bunch, I take her to the side and tell her I want to fill her ass with my cum sin condom via google translate.
She nods OK.
So I'm fucking her doggy style and I look down and its a huge mess, I freaked out and ran in the shower got dressed and bolted LOL.
A wasted $100 usd, I've been banging putas in the ass since the early 80's and that never happened before, I've broken girls water before but never the colon LOL.
