We were staying next tp Asok BTS which allowed us to explore the areas by foot. We were looking for some massage but most places price were 500 baht which is expensive compared to standard thailand rates and the girls were not nice too. Past midnight, we decided to check out the club insanity. We were taken there by a free taxi and the entry fee was 400 including 1 drink.

The club vibe is nice and the songs were also good. Once we are in, we received many smiles and some girls started to pull me to their table and did grinding. Sooner later, everyone asked if they can go with me; why not. But the rates they asked was like 4000-5000 for LT. I am not at all interested in paying that much money in LOS for the local girls so I passed.

After a while, I met a girl who looks normal but very young and has a nice body. After spending 5 minutes with her, I realized she is very good girl and not too much into business. We felt we have something which attracts each other and we decided to head to my apartment.

She asked for 3000 and reduced to 2000 but I only had 1500 with me as cash and she was fine with that.

Why do I like Patpong? The Answer: The Girls Girls Girls.

But don't get me wrong, currently Nana is my overall favorite watering hole and my favorite Nana bars are Billboard, RB2 (where I have a special little sweetie), RB4, and Twister plus there are an additional fair number of lesser Go Go's worth checking out. If you and your friend only have a few nights in BKK concentrate your hunting parties in Nana early in the evening and then later around midnight branch out to Thermae and the Soi 11 nightclubs.

But if you have a week or longer in BKK don't miss out on what is going on in Patpong. I highly recommend Kings Castle 1 and Pink Panther. KC1 has a lot of young, thin, pretty, northern Thai girls. It is either the #1 or #2 Go Go in BKK at the present time IMHO. Pink is loaded with very friendly, nice looking girls too. In addition, there is Kings Castle 2, Glamour, and Badabing which could all hold their own against many 2nd tier Nana Go Go's.

A distant 3rd place in my opinion is Cowboy in its current state of affairs which is sad because for most of the last 10 years Cowboy has been my favorite place with bars like Crazy House, Baccara and Shark having great girls on hand. But lately those three bars have fallen off dramatically in girl quality (especially CH and Baccara) and there have been no new Go Go's on the soi good enough to replace them. And if that were not bad enough there is always the ubiquitous presence of the quote unquote Arab's 6 or 7 buy me drink only bars that take up a lot of space and little else. The Bottom line is the whole soi just isn't what it used to be only 3 or 4 years ago. For example, on my last 6 week BKK visit I barfined only 1 Soi Cowboy girl, a wild little thing from Dollhouse whom I barfined around 12:30 to 1am. She was my 2nd girl on that particular night and I had a good time with her.

So you should probably check out Cowboy as long as you are in the neighborhood. Crazy House is still wild at times and you never know unless you go there whether or not you find a couple of girls to your liking. But IMHO, Nana and Patpong are definitely better at the moment. You will notice the difference as soon as you compare a few bars.

When the agency gals came in, the fun ended and service levels dropped.

In my country, almost nothing is negotiated, we have to learn negotiation in Thailand, and realise the Thai girls may try for more money than what they need, or what they are worth. However we don't have any issue with those who don't want to negotiate. I am too lazy to go for prolonged negotiation with a girl. I can just pass if she does not reach a good price quickly. I prefer girls who do not even set a price, when she gambles that the customer will pay fairly. I suspect a girl will not do that with guys of certain cultures.

In my culture, we would just say the girl seemed over priced based on her quality. Actually there are very few things in Thailand that we need to negotiate the price for. Many of us prefer to take metered taxis. I may accept a deal with driver if I am in a big hurry, but not a really over priced one. Unlikely I could ever negotiate as good as the metered price or better. Most things in Thailand have a fixed price these days. I don't buy from touristy street stalls with rip off prices.

I even thought was funny at a short time hotel with a fixed price for the room, that one dude was trying to negotiate the room price down, for the whole night I guess. Clearly the receptionist has no interest and no power to do that. However he kept putting some small amounts of cash on the table, thinking she was going to cave in. It sort of showed a lack of respect that he thought some receptionist was desperate not to lose a room booking, or something about him coming from a culture where absolutely everything is negotiable. They are busy. Why should she care if he does not take a room? They will make more money by taking ST bookings.

I was getting slightly irritated because the guy was wasting so much time trying it on repeatedly, where I just wanted to grab a room quickly. The receptionist was too polite to tell him to fuck off.

Some Farangs have what is perceived as a bad attitude in Thailand for goods where the price can be negotiated, because they will ask the price, and then fail to negotiate or make a better offer, just refusing to buy. Unfortunately many Farangs are wanting to know the price, and not wanting to actually buy. They won't find out the true price by asking. So they should not ask if they don't want to buy. It is just wasting everyone's time. Would be worse if they negotiated the price and finally decided not to buy though.

Not all bargirls in Bangkok want to negotiate (some are willing). Even not all street freelance hookers want to negotiate. Seems they just can't be bothered if they think a good customer will come soon enough that accepts the possibly reasonable price. I have seen both very protracted negotiations (where girl is expecting customer to offer more), and also seen where girl does not make any lower offer nor listens to them. Just not interested.

I have heard one cannot get a decent priced taxi in Pattaya and negotiation does not help much. They all gang up to set silly prices. Similarly to catch a motorcycle from Soi 4 to Cowboy, one will be quoted a silly price, and unlikely negotiation will help. Its easier just to cross Sukhumvit road and catch a metered taxi for much less. If anyone can actually negotiate a motorcycle to the fair price from Soi 4 entrance, good luck to them.

For me the decline comes from several factors: Yes Agency Girls and Coyotes with excessive barfines, Arab Bars with unbarfinable girls, increase in ladyboys, drinks prices getting to steep especially lady drinks (caused by bars being less busy for customers), high increase is un-subtle surgeries, the change to cater more for Asian customers (chiefly Japanese and Korean), Farangs no longer being the preferred customer, dick scared girls (or overly timid girls with low experience), overdressed girls particularly relating to bras that hide everything, the decline in the types of music that DJs think is listenable, the crack down by government on girls with no Thai ID or wrong age or lewd behaviour, higher levels of girls with teeth braces even.

Very hard to find any aspects of improvement, at least for those who like the old ways. Some bars have cracked down on girls using drugs on the premises. Maybe that can be seen as an improvement (not sure). Some girls still seem spaced out.

I don't think I will be able to contribute much to this thread as it is already full of good credible guidance by senior members.

Started the evening at Soi 11. Sometimes I am let down by my country men. Either too busy selling bad food or hunting in a wolf pack. Grabbed a beer at the Mercure bar because it was empty and the Randy Orton lookalike was doing good cover songs of Frank Sinatra / Grover / Bono. Jogged over to Thermae. Saw bunch of ladyboys standing so didn't bother going inside. Anyway going by RTFF and other websites, Thermae doesn't seem encouraging but may check out today as part of my To Do list.
