PI lacks tourism because it's tourist infrastruture sucks and there is widespread perception it's unsafe to go there. Pure and simple. Do you know how hard it was to buy a Lonely Planet's guide to the Philippines? I went to several bookstores here in California but was unsuccessful. I had to buy it online. People simply don't perceive PI as a place for R&R.

As far as Hong Kong is concerned, people go there for the same reason people go to any big metropolis in Asia or anywhere. Besides, most North Americans or Europeans will feel like they are in Asia in cites like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul or Singapore even if you if you feel they are nothing but concrete jungles.

I never said PI was not exotic, places can be exotic without having to be Asian. I'm not disagreeing with the lack of infrastructure or the preceived dangers. But just remember, many of the people I know for example felt Thailand was dangerous because of what was happening with the demonstrations or what not but that doesn't stop people from going just as what happened in Egypt won't stop people from going there (temporailiy yes but not long term). And the limited availability of guide books is the result of low demand, not the cause of the low demand itself.

Very unlikely that the Phil gment would get involved in tracking down fathers of unmarried mums here. If you did have unprotected sex then you have something of a dilemma as she maybe scamming she may be telling the truth. Which is one reason I always use condoms.

The odds are so overwhelmingly against her being able to do anything to you that they're minuscule. First, unless you have Smart post-paid and used a foreign address for your account, she can't track you that way. Second, it's highly doubtful the hotel would share information with her. If she's from a "connected" family with lots of money, and knows your correct full name there's a vague possibility that she might be able to prevent your re-entry into the country, but that's dubious as well.
