I don't know what country you're a citizen of, but I've been charged a Visa fee ever since I started coming to Indonesia (2004 or so). The used to have two different types, but now only have the $25 type.
If you belong to any of the Apec countries you can get a an Apec card, about US$100, depends on the country.
With this you do not need either a visa or to pay any fee to enter Indonesia.

When did they change last time I was there late last yr they still offer 7 day VOA for 10 USD, before 2002 it is free 30 days visa to visit indo for US passport, after the first Bali bombing they start to charge don't know why.

I am German. Before I didn't need to pay a fee. I asked the girl at the counter and she told it's new since one month's.

I had to pay it last March. It was very new at that time.

The 6th floor, sometimes indicated by 5+1 is a bar/bordello on the 6th floor of Hotel Melawai I. The name of the bar is Maribaya. Girls/masseuses (?) hang out in the bar and you can book them for a massage which comes with/turns out to be a complete sex-session.

According to my passport the change putting a huge visa (10/25 USD) into it came in 2003.
Before it was free even for 60 days.

Cheers![/QUOTE]Correct - and till recently it was not possible for people with Dutch passports to get their visa on arrival (VOA) - had to go to the Indonesian Embassy and pay $ 35. Germans could get a VOA from 2003, but no free entrance. That was reserved for countries like Brunei and Singapore.
But htose thinking it is a lot of money and hassle may ask an Indonesian what it will cost him to get a tourist visa to Europe.

The change started officially on 26 january 2010. From that day no more VOA's valid for a week. Instead, a 30-day visa and as a bonus, it is extendable for another 30 days without having to leave the country.

This topic was already in the thread in august with Bulai69 as the initiator.[/QUOTE]What bugs me most is that they waste a whole page of a passport. With a few trips in Indonesia, and China plus a page needed for a work permit every year its no ownder passports only last 2 weeks.
In this day and age of passports with chips and biometrics you have to even wonder why visa stamps/visa pages are even necessary.

Thanks I will test it when I am in Jakarta in 2 weeks time.
I just saw that the price is 450 for Melawai I and i know that I have to pay at Travel only 300. Is Melawai much better then Travel or has Travel also increased the price?
Have I to enter the lobby at Hotel Melawai I?

Thatīs why I have a multiple entry visa for Indonesia.
The old days it was easy to get but now I need an official letter from the Immigration office in Jakarta. The multiple entry Visa is valid for one year. I donīt know the cost right now (company pays).

The money, the rooms and the looks, Travel wins hands down. But somehow, except for my sessions with a particular girl who used to work there (Yola), I've never had a satisfactory session in T. But don't let this scare you off, because apparently all other mongerers have had better experiences.
You do have to enter the lobby at Melawai I, but walk straight to the elevators that are located opposite of the main entrance. You'll be noticed anyway, but don't bother. Since hardly any bulai stays there anymore, they'll know you are there for the 6th floor. :D
