It began as usual. She wrote in the profile she is from Manila, when I said I'm too, she said now she has gone to the province to be with her mom and then began the usual back and forth drama. How she lost her mobile and she is poor but she like me very much and she will switch on the cam later as her mom is sitting with her. I knew it was a scam but went in anyway.

I decided to fish and went over board in saying, that I will send her money to come to manila and I'm sending her 15, 000 pesos for plane ticket, one mobile phone and some pocket money. She was so confident, she fell for it and gave away her real name and address and it was what you know in Manila.

There is an online vigilante community called scambaiters. Scambaiters would go onto dating websites hoping to attract scammers. If he encounters a scammer, he would pretend to give money. But in reality, he would try wasting as much of her time and resources as possible. Often, he would make her do ridiculous things like get her to take unflattering photos of herself or get her on a wild goose chase to get the money. Sounds very much like what you did.

us guys starts chatting to babe on one of one of the dating sites. she claims she's 18.

she turns up at his hotel with her "aunty". aunty assures him she is 18 and leaves them both.

10 minutes later her "dad" turns up accompanied by 5 police guys. says she is really 17 and has consequently been "raped".

to cut a long story short he avoids a trip to jail by paying p12k + p15k fee for a lawyer.

now left phil vowing never to return.

this visit to cebu i met a fellow american guy at the casino. his story is that he came to phi long time ago started living with a girl and had a child. when he wanted to go back to usa for a visit his gf filed a police complaint saying this guy may never return and suing for child support. so he was arrested and put in jail. at trial his passport was confirep001ed and he was asked to post $3000 dollars bond which he did. $2000 dollars bond was only for his release from jail and release of his passport. the case is still in court after 3 years and he is stuck. the story is from his present gf is that he is not blacklisted by nbi and can fly out. he does not want to loose the $3000.

he said he really took care of the girl and the baby very well and all he wanted is to visit usa and go back staying with her. obviously she had another local bf. now he is fighting through the court and court is very very slow. his gf says the baby is not his and the tests show it. however the court is saying since she lived with him and took care of him the girl deserves compensation which is yet to be determined. child support case has turned out to be co habitation support case. i did not know if you live with a phi girl long time she can sue you for compensation. i can understand if a child fathered by the person involved.

maybe some members can really enlighten this aspect of phi law if it is true.

moral of the story is never make a baby with the girl and stay in the country too long. justce system is really screwed up.

Big mistake living with a girl and her having a baby while they are under the same roof. The courts are slow as they just want to see how much he will offer. The know he had $3000.

This is a great series of posts that all newbies should read before getting on a plane to come here. It wouldn't hurt some of the more experienced guys to read these either. The fact is that this is a third world country, at or near the bottom of most international rankings of just about everything, and it's not getting any better. It's got no rule of law, and it rates at or near the top of every corruption index published for the past several years. If that's not enough to make foreigners extremely wary, then they must be blinded by the apparent accessibility of all the young, nubile stuff floating around.

The fact is though, that even living here and being aware of all of the potential scams, and all of the corruption, there's no foolproof way of avoiding becoming a victim other than to strike the country from your list of destinationns. There's simply no total indemnity for anyone.
