P. s I found the hottest Colombian women in Panama City Panama but they were more expensive than in Medellin and didn't provide as good of a service. That is why I say I didn't just say pack I said equipment so for example I was an M60 gunner for a couple of years, so add the M60 Machine gun, a spare barrel (ultra light infantry had no assistant gunners) and then add the ammo and you are already up to about 40 lbs, now lets not forget starlight scope for the M60 and tripod with TO&E (pintle, traverse bar) for setting up night time defense position we had no truck mounted mortars, we did not even have weapons platoons, we had all the 60 mm mortars divided into the rifle platoons, so all that has to be split up and carried also, tube, baseplate, rounds etc, now lets throw on a 120 foot rappelling rope, throw on a few claymores, - our M / O when running team or squad size missions was to sleep under some brush in a circle with all our heads pointed in toward the center of the clock, one guy in the center on watch with all the triggers for a perimeter of claymores set up around us. We also were trained to use the claymore for a hasty ambush so everyone carried a few.

Four frag grenades, ammo for the. 45 (yes I am that old) 4 liter water bladder (because you have to stay hydrated in the jungle,) machete, Often when gearing up to march it was easier just to have two guys hold the rucksack while you slipped your arms through the straps. For in case we did get in a situation where we might have to do need to dig fighting positions an E-Tool is not always going to cut it so every other guy carried the pick-axe head and ever other guy carried the handle. Then of course you have our other "etc" stuff that each squad leader is going to split up between each person, like smoke grenades, white phosphorus grenades, a folding litter for carrying out wounded, after close to 40 years that is all I can remember (LOL) but I do not forget the weight of it all.
